Chapter 82: A Possessive Mate (Ch.82)

"We can neither advance nor retreat. Then, we have no choice?" Neveah’s wolf asked and Neveah sighed as she stepped into the woods.

At this point, the only feasible choice was to choose death over being sold out by her father, yet Neveah had already tasted death before and even now, it still left a bitter residue on her tongue.

Neveah had only just turned eighteen, she did not fear death but if she had to die, she would die for a good cause... she would never be forced to death by her father or die at her brother’s hands.

One lifetime of weakness and failures was already enough, facing the same fate a second time over was inexcusable.

"Our life has never been easy, what else is new?" Neveah asked, she had not expected it would come to this but even so she would not despair.

"Indeed." Neveah’s wolf replied and Neveah shook her head slightly, forcing away the dark thoughts from her mind.

"We asked for a change to our fate, what greater change could there be than this? The dragon shifters were never in the picture previously."

"The fact that they show up now, it is already different from what we knew or experienced before. They are a variable I can neither comprehend or predict and if their presence is a good turn of events or otherwise... I cannot decide yet." Neveah admitted honestly. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

"But a difference is a difference...a prove that fate has changed it’s path already and the wheel is spinning in the opposite direction, it matters not what comes ahead." Neveah’s wolf continued, understanding Neveah’s point.

If she did not have control over her own fate, she would not lament it. Though Neveah could not understand why the dragon shifters had taken a liking to her, but one way or the other, as long as she was still alive, there was hope.

Neveah had never given up till this moment and she would not give up even now, whether it was the eclipse fang wolves or the dragon shifters, they were all people who believed they could control Neveah’s fate.

"They do not understand just how wrong they are." Neveah’s wolf thought to her in a dark tone.

Neveah trudged through the woods, though her dress was light and provided no protection against the chilling night breeze, especially now that it was winter and the ground was already covered with snow, however Neveah did not mind it.

Neveah just kept walking ahead till she reached a certain point, not too far off from the forest’s edge as she did not want to encounter the patrol team.

She lowered herself to a seat, ignoring the damp wetness of the snow seeping through the fabric of her clothing as she leaned her head against the tree, her eyes fluttering closed.

Neveah’s calm had already been restored, she was only momentarily caught off guard and now that the shock had worn off, there was only a melancholic feeling left as she sat in the snow.

Though the snow was chilling cold, Neveah found it comforting and she was not even certain when she drifted off to sleep.

Though Neveah was asleep, her senses were still alert and the moment she sensed a presence hovering over her, Neveah’s eyes snapped open.

Neveah lifted her gaze up to be met with Alessio staring down at her, his green orbs reflecting an emotion she neither understood nor was willing to contemplate.

A tired sigh escaped Neveah at the sight, she had completely forgotten about Alessio and the fact that he had just discovered they were mates, so she would have to deal with him as well.

Neveah had already known Alessio was her mate for two lifetimes, there was nothing so interesting about it again and the sight of him only brought displeasure to her.

"It is cold out here, you will harm your health." Alessio began in a deep, guttural tone that alerted Neveah to the presence of Terran on the surface.

"I am born human Alessio, I shall not live that long anyways. There is no need to be so particular about anything." Neveah said in a blank tone.

Alessio’s gaze narrowed slightly as he stretched a hand down to Neveah to help her up but Neveah only stared warily at Alessio’s hand before she rose to her feet by herself, ignoring Alessio’s offered hand.

Neveah could understand Alessio’s sudden tenderness to her was because of the mate bond, but the last time Alessio had found out they were mates, things had not panned out so well for Neveah.

So to Neveah, every move, every action that Alessio took, they could not escape Neveah’s suspicion... she had turned her back once on the enemy, there would not be a second time.

"What brings you out here, should you not be by father’s side? Deciding on exactly how much I am worth?" Neveah asked in a blank tone.

Neveah had already decided to act as though she did not know anything, that she did not know of what Alessio was to her. Perhaps that was the best way to get past this hurdle.

Alessio did not respond immediately, he only stared at Neveah as though he had never seen her before and this was the first time he was truly seeing her in all the years they had known each other.

Alessio’s gaze unnerved Neveah greatly though she did her best to conceal her unease and keep a straight face with an emotionless expression in her eyes.

This was someone at whose hands she had died in her previous lifetime, how could she not be uneasy in his presence? Especially when he stood at such close proximity.

Alessio stood right before her, his broad stature made it impossible for Neveah to escape to either sides of him and she could only lean against the tree to maintain some distance.

"Your worth, do I not already know it clearly..." Alessio began as he lifted a hand to Neveah and Neveah flinched away from his touch.

"I will not hit you." Alessio stated, believing this was Neveah’s fear... being hit by Alessio was the least of Neveah’s worries, she did not want to be touched by him or be in his presence at all.

"If I did not know your worth before this time... I do know it clearly now." Alessio continued.

"My worth? What is it then? A dragon scale? A magical artifact? A rare mechanism? Territory? Gold? Dragon tooth? An army perhaps?" Neveah asked in a calm tone as her wolf churned furiously in her mind.

"Your worth...it is the fact that you belong to me." Alessio said in a deep tone.

Neveah’s hands clenched into fists at her side as she heard Alessio’s words but she kept her gaze blank.

"I do not understand how you mean." Neveah replied.

"You have no idea... for how long I have desired you Omega. Who would think, that you were mine all along?" Alessio continued, this time, his right hand darted forwards and encircled Neveah’s waist before she could even react.

Alessio pulled Neveah closer to himself, so she was engulfed with his scent as his left hand lifted up to trail a finger down the side of Neveah’s cheek.

Electrifying jolts surged through Neveah’s veins, the jolts were strong at all the points Alessio’s skin touched Neveah’s and had Neveah not hardened her heart and will, she perhaps would still be weak to the mate bond.

But the Neveah who had awakened in this lifetime was no longer the Neveah from the previous lifetime and the Neveah from half a year ago was no longer the same Neveah as the one who stood there at this moment.

And so, even with the recognition that Alessio was her mate, the tug of the mate bond on Neveah’s end was already numb and Neveah did not feel the slightest not moved.

Neveah only felt a sense of Deja Vu as Alessio repeated the very same words he had said in the previous lifetime, words that admitted he had always seen Neveah as more than a sister he detested.

Neveah had no understood it then, and even now, she still did not understand clearly why the person who had made her life a living hell right from childhood could dare to claim he desired her.

But then again... desire was just that...lust. A need to possess Neveah not for the tenderness of the heart but for his lustful urges.

"I know you can feel it just as I do, Omega. You have been a human yet lived amongst us long enough to understand what it means...do not feign ignorance of what you are to me." Alessio said in a low tone,

His tone was barely audible as he dipped his head down to Neveah’s shoulder and breathed in her scent deeply, his eyes returned to settle on Neveah’s with a glow in them.

"But if you do not know it... I will let you know it now that you are mine!" Alessio declared in a tone thick with possesion.
