Chapter 675: Who You Are Meant To Be (Ch.676)

"But... how?" Neveah asked in bafflement.

She had not felt anything different, she had not even sensed Demevirld’s influence in that moment.

The only difference had been the extreme emotions that plagued her as she struggled to retrieve her consciousness, surging through her so powerfully that Neveah had felt like she would explode.

Unable to maintain her human form, Neveah’s wolf had taken control, forcing a shift and since that moment, Neveah was only just now regaining her calm.

With her mind on edge, Neveah had not even registered anything that had happened in that brief duration of time...but she had sent a mental signal to all the dragons? How was such a thing even achieved?

She did not have the ability to communicate mentally with any other dragon besides her father and Jian, unless on the basis of skin to scale, yet she had done such a thing?

"I am not sure myself. But one thing that is certain, Jian is no usual dragon and he is of no usual bloodline. None of us have a full understanding of the extent of Jian’s abilities, as such, your bond is not one that we will be able to comprehend." Kirgan admitted honestly.

"Your bond with Jian only grows stronger by the day, you have yet to graze even the surface of what you both are fated to share. There is no denying it, and it is impossible for any dragon blooded to deny it at this point... that you embody the Dragon King." Kirgan said to Neveah directly.

"If he was here...if Xenon was here...but without them, I..." Neveah’s voice faded into silence.

In her mind, she completed the thought: "I feel like an impostor."

’A queen is only a queen by the side of her King. Without them, what exactly was she?’ Neveah wondered.

"It is not a topic debatable even by you, Neveah. From the moment you were conceived, you were fated to be Jian’s... perhaps even before that. So if by any chance you wonder if you are worthy, you must ask yourself this..."

"If not you, then who? Whatever happens, the one thing that stands true is the fact that a dragon will have just one true bond his entire life... and for Jian, you are that. There will never be anyone else." Kirgan guessed Neveah’s insecurities.

Neveah knew this well enough, even more so after that glimpse of the past lifetime. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"What we have received is but the endorsement from the surrounding academies and the rider council that is within close proximity to dragon keep and directly sensed your signal. Word of what happened is spreading as we speak and more dragon lords will send word of their acknowledgement."

"By dawn tomorrow, all who live and breathe in the stronghold will know of it. But the rider council leaves the choice in your hands."

"We will grant the Fae permission to portal into Dragon Keep, and any other representatives that may follow. We cannot avoid confrontation, this is not the dragon way." Kirgan said firmly.

"It is without a doubt that a unified council might be called for. You may choose to step up and preside over the council and if not, the King’s guard will take care of the pressing matters by whatever means." Kirgan paused briefly.

"But it would be a matter of honor to have you assume authority before the tributary races, my brothers are all in agreement." Kirgan finished.

Neveah sucked in a breath, staring ahead. She did not say a word, not even as Kirgan took his leave.

Kirgan paused by the door and turned back to Neveah.

"When I first set eyes on you in wolf territory, I knew then that your existence would be a pivotal point in the lives of both my brothers... though I was not certain how."

"Xenon adored you so dearly, even in his haze. And Jian who barely let emotions show detested you so openly... there has not been a moment when you have not been special, Neveah Vairheac. It is who you are meant to be." Kirgan finished his words and left.

Neveah remained there until she collected herself and then she headed back up to the first level.

The atmosphere in the audience hall was oppressive yet eerily silent. The rider council was already gathered, awaiting the impending arrival of the Fae representatives and the representatives from the Hidden City.

"Word that the Keep and Menarx’s district were compromised would have spread, it will stir panic. The city guard is charged to do what you can to maintain the peace of the citadel and its environs." Imagor instructed, placing down a scroll.

"Menarx’s district will be sealed off for the time till the source of the breach in the portal wards is taken care of. The captives, the dark sorcerer and the dark fairy will be remanded in the central dungeons and tried at dawn...there will be no delay." Kirgan added also placing down a scroll.

"Now that the internal affairs are sorted after the breach, the scouts have reported that the Fae representatives will be arriving soon. The council will hear them out and decide accordingly." Imagor announced to the council.

"I do not see why we are granting them an audience. The Fae has violated several laws and at this point, the discord between our two species is irreconcilable... the only reason we have not declared war is..." Conrad began raging but trailed off.

"In the absence of His Grace, declaring war against an entire race might cause more harm than good." Everon completed the statement.

"We all know it clearly enough. The Fae know it too, that we are indisposed to begin a battle with the breaking right at our barrier. This is why they have continuously incited agitations to push us to take first aggression." Lord Andron added.

"They will do the same once again. The time for battles will come, but that time is not now. The council should take note of this and act accordingly upon their arrival." Imagor instructed firmly.
