Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 671: Born To Die ()
’I cannot die like this...’
’I cannot die like this...’
Neveah could hear the words, those same words which had just been a mantra in her mind now echoed in a barely audible whisper from somewhere close by,
So close it sent an eerie chill down Neveah’s spine and stirred a deep seated ache in her heart, so painful Neveah could have sworn her heart was shattering into pieces all on it’s own, all from each repetition of those pained words that resonated deep within her mind.
That voice...it was thick with pain and exhaustion, it was not even a plea, but a lamentation, of one who could hardly accept the fate they were faced with.
The potency of sorrow and regrets in that tone was so thick, it overwhelmed the pain Neveah felt and pulled on her heartstrings, leaving Neveah less concerned about her present predicament and more desperate to know,
’Just who was saying those words? Why did they sound even more sorrowful than they did when she thought of those same words a moment ago?’ She wondered.
’Who was this person and were they in the exact same situation that she was currently in, or even worse?’ Came another thought.
Neveah fought through the haze of pain wracking through her and by the sheer force of will alone, she regained awareness of her environment and somehow found herself staring up into the open night sky.
The sky was littered with hundreds of gleaming stars and the moon itself was high in the sky, its glow reaching down, as though reaching straight for Neveah.
’Where am I?’ Neveah wondered.
’What is this place?’ She thought to herself.
The night sky was beautiful, and it struck a sense of familiarity within Neveah. For some reason, Neveah felt she had been in this very position before, staring up at these very skies.
’I cannot die like this...’ Came that pained gasp, once again.
Words uttered so weakly as though hanging on to the very final breath.
This time, the words sounded so close, Neveah was moved to seek out the source. And in doing so, Neveah’s head slowly turned to the side and she found herself staring into a familiar pair of eyes and a woman that looked just like her.
Just like Neveah was, the woman was laid on the cold, muddy forest ground, her golden tresses splayed out beneath her, stained with mud, dirt... and blood.
’Blood...there was blood pooling beneath where she lay.’ Neveah realized, watching the pool of blood beneath the woman grow larger and larger as she continuously bled out, the blood seeped into the earth and even spread towards Neveah.
A small droplet of water touched Neveah’s cheek. Glancing up at the sky, Neveah realized it was raining...it had been for who knew how long?
Neveah’s attention was drawn back to the woman laid beside her when she heard a quiet voice whisper some words... the same words Neveah had uttered as she awaited her death all that time ago.
"Dear Creator, I am Neveah Omega Lothaire but everyone just calls me Omega. The daughter of Lothaire Raul, the Alpha King of the Eclipse Domain."
"My father has betrayed the mate bond, he took carnal knowledge of a human woman and she bore him a child, the child was me."
"Born to a human mother, I was meant to be born human, everyone thought I was but the truth is, when I was five ... I experienced my first shift."
"I have a wolf and not just any wolf, my wolf is an Alpha King."
"My father’s mate, the Alpha Queen of the Eclipse domain has a son, he is the future Alpha King and my step brother. The Alpha King wolf is rightfully his, so why was it given to me also?"
"I do not understand it at all, I did not ask to be born, I do not know why I have to be blamed for the mistakes of my parents, I do not know why I am mated to my own stepbrother...I do not know why I have to die."
"All I know is fate did me dirty because he found out... that I was born with what was rightfully his and so...he killed me."
At the end of her words, her voice drifted off and Neveah heard the violent cough that followed after as the woman choked on her blood.
’This is not a woman that looks like me, this is me...’ Neveah realized.
It dawned on Neveah why the skies had looked so familiar, the very skies she stared up to in the final moments of her life,
Somehow, Neveah was back at that moment again. In that moment when the cold hands of death had seized her soul, putting an end to her bitter life.
’But how?! I escaped this fate! I lived! I lived!’ Neveah panicked as she watched the life leave the eyes of the dying woman... leave her eyes.
’l lived then...but I am dying again...’ Neveah realized.
’Blessed Creator, even up until the very end, you show me no mercy...one like me is born to die, this is my inevitable fate...’ Came the thought again. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
The very same thought that lingered on Neveah’s mind in her final moments all those time ago, was the same thoughts that came to mind once again.
"I am dying for the second time already... and I finally have the moment where my life flashes before my eyes, all my deaths have become one... one final end..." Neveah murmured, staring up at the moon.
She laughed ironically despite the pain she felt and the sorrow that gripped her heart.
However, Neveah’s laughter died out when a heart wrenching roar of pain and despair shook the very forest.
It shook Neveah to her very core, and Neveah felt her already aching heart clench up tightly.
That sound...it could not have been from her, Neveah was already dead. But who?
Neveah forced herself to sit up despite her pain and she staggered up to her feet, her gaze roaming this way and that in search of the source of that voice... until she found it...him.
Far in the distance, was a familiar figure hunched over, his back faced towards Neveah. His inky black hair swayed in the wind as he tilted his head back and let out another earth shaking roar.
That silhouette, Neveah could recognise it anywhere.
"Xenon?" Neveah asked in utter bafflement.
