Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 66: Making Arrangements ()
Neveah heard a soft knock on her door and then her door came open and the sound of footsteps on her floor board reached her.
However, she did not react as she lay in her bed, her eyes closed as though she was asleep, Neveah had been in this position for hours, over half of a day,
And yet, all along, she had not been asleep for even a moment... how could she think to find sleep when her heart was so uneasy?
Neveah was positively exhausted, after the scare from her father’s gift and the intentions behind them and then came Lucas finding his mate which kick-started a string of excitement and jubilation.
It seemed Lucas’s mate was the daughter of Alpha Dane’s head warrior, she was a warrior herself and born to a prestigious family, a bloodline worthy of being the Luna of Eclipse Claw.
The head warrior had immediately declared a celebration as the girl Meira was his only daughter, yet had not found her mate up until her 24th year.
This had been a cause of concern for the head warrior of Eclipse Hunt for the longest time but with this, that trouble was already resolved without a hitch.
Both Lucas and Meira had waited the longest time to find each other and now that they had, their bond would be that more stronger, influence by the years of pent up longing.
Alpha Varleston of Eclipse Claw had also received the news and ordered for Lucas’s immediate return, however the head warrior of Eclipse Hunt could not bear to send his daughter off so quickly.
Alpha Dane had then declared a banquet in Meira’s honor to appease her father and give the pack members a chance to say their goodbyes.
The banquet was to begin soon and on the morrow, Lucas would depart from Eclipse Hunt alongside his mate and would be conferred as Alpha of the Eclipse Claw Pack in the soonest possible time.
Neveah felt this turn of event was rather befitting, this kind of bliss was what Lucas deserved... rather than risking his life to battle Alessio and defend Neveah’s honor, this was a better fate for him.
Neveah was glad for him, yet at the same time she could not bring herself to share in his joy, she had at least been able to change his fate, this could be considered a success.
But Neveah could not help thinking, what could be done of her own fate? With Lucas finding his mate, it was a timely solution that could put a permanent end to her father’s plot,
But would Lucas be the last? How many more would her father send her way, when exactly would he stop? Neveah had believed she had broken away from her father after leaving the Eclipse Fang.
Yet it seemed the Eclipse Hunt was not nearly far enough, not even the ends of the Earth was far enough.
He had even threatened her with her mother’s name, Neveah wondered, would she ever be able to completely break off these shackles? Would she ever be free of the Eclipse royals?
Neveah did not have an answer to any of these questions, all she desperately wanted to do now was run, run as far away from all of these troubles as she possibly could,
Yet Neveah had promised Luna Colleen to be at her side till she safely delivered her pups, she could not go back on her words, she could not abandon Luna Colleen to her own fate merely to seek safety.
Neveah did not know what to do, there were many paths set before her but none of them seemed right, if she stayed in Eclipse Hunt till her father summoned her back,
All Neveah’s efforts would go to waste, yet if she left, Neveah would forever be burdened by her vow to Luna Colleen and Alpha Dane.
What could she chose? Her ownself? There was no assurance she would be able to get far before word reached her father and he sent people after her.
The Eclipse Domain was so vast and all the territories were under her father’s rule, Neveah had never ventured out the Eclipse Palace before, how could she find her way out of the Eclipse Domain?
"Veah?" Alpha Dane called, heaving a quiet sigh when Neveah gave no response.
"I know you are awake, I can hear your heartbeat." Alpha Dane said as he walked over to Neveah’s bed and took a sit beside it.
"You did not ask if you could come in." Neveah pointed out in a quiet murmur.
"Why should I ask when I already know what your response will be?" Alpha Dane replied as he stared down at Neveah.
"My doors are shut, it goes without saying that I would like to be alone." Neveah said in a blank tone.
"It was also unlocked... clearly, you knew one of us would come to you." Alpha Dane said with certainty.
"I would have been expecting Leen." Neveah admitted and Alpha Dane chuckled quietly.
"I would have you know that I am not such horrible company." Alpha Dane boasted before he sighed again.
"After you left, Leen was worried for you and felt light-headed. She wanted to come but I insisted she got some rest and leave it to me." Alpha Dane explained.
"You did good, she is already so fragile, it would be inconsiderate of me to add to her burden." Neveah murmured with a sigh.
Neveah knew she had taken her leave in a worrisome way but she needed to calm her unease and did not want to dampen the festive mood.
"You have been in here for hours, almost the entire day... everyone is worried for you." Alpha Dane said.
"I guess I did dampen the festive mood afterall..." Neveah said with a mirthless chuckle.
"You have your own troubles, no one has any rights to blame you and whoever dares will have me to deal with." Alpha Dane said in a firm tone.
Neveah scoffed beneath her breath though her lips twitched slightly.
"That is rather reassuring, I must say you are a lot to deal with." Neveah said in agreement.
"Why do I sense sarcasm in your tone?" Alpha Dane asked suspiciously and Neveah shrugged, her eyes finally fluttering open to reveal an innocent look.
"You heard wrongly." Neveah replied and Alpha Dane rolled his eyes.
"This is also for the best, with the Varleston boy finding his mate, your father will have to back off from the betrothal scheme." Alpha Dane said after a moment of quiet.
"One scheme precedes another...my father’s schemes are never ending, this has taken a surprising turn but I doubt this will be the end of it." Neveah said with a shake of her head.
"At least you will get some time to plan ahead, your father promised to let you stay till Leen has put to bed. Till then, we will be able to come up with something." Alpha Dane assured.
"There is nothing else to be done, I will not have you oppose my father for me, that is seeking death. I cannot tarry in the Eclipse Hunt, lest I be a burden...after your pups are born, I will leave." Neveah said.
Alpha Dane was quiet for a moment before he nodded in agreement.
"In that case, Leen and I also have an arrangement." Alpha Dane said with a nod.
"You do?" Neveah asked in surprise, sitting up on her bed.
"Indeed. My mother was originally from the shadow domain of Alpha King Rhysand Clave. I have kin there, after Leen’s travails are past, I will send you to my kin."
"Your father may be all powerful in his eclipse domain but he holds no power or authority in the shadow domain, you will be safe and protected there till you are ready to return." Alpha Dane said with a smile.
Neveah was speechless, all the while, she had worried for her future believing she had no one to rely on, who would have thought Alpha Dane and Luna Colleen were already making plans for her benefit?
"Your wolf’s fur is a midnight blue shade, the shadow wolves are known for their darker coloured furs, you will blend in perfectly well and no one will ever have to know your true identity."
"You are someone I regard as my own daughter, my kin will treat you with high regard and you will lack nothing." Alpha Dane assured, believing Neveah was quiet because she held reservations.
How could Neveah care if she lacked or did not lack, so long as she could get away from Eclipse Fang, she was even willing to be a rogue.
Now that there was a method to truly and completely break away from the shackles of the Eclipse royals, it was more than anything Neveah could have ever dreamed of.
So much more and Neveah was not certain when silent tears began trailing down her cheeks.
