Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 596: In Danger of Spreading ()
"Even duty and honor all have limits... one is not expected to do beyond what duty obligates. Saving the family from the mob was your duty, nothing beyond that."
"You need not mourn the child after saving them from the mob...yet you do. Is this also your duty?" The dressmaker asked Estelle.
Estelle shook her head, the dressmaker was right. No one made the dragons do what they did, the world was often against them too...so why did they?
"Loyalty." Estelle adjusted her response.
The dressmaker smiled slightly and nodded.
"The cause to whom one has pledged loyalty determines the path... nothing else matters. Loyalty has no beginning and no end..."
"The Dragon kind is loyal to their vow to protect and uphold the realm... whilst I also have chosen to dedicate myself to the service of these protectors. That through my meager efforts, they may keep the world safe with no worries. It is the noblest cause, why should I require acknowledgement?"
"I see the result of my service in every life saved, every danger thwarted and every threat averted." The dressmaker finished with a smile.
’The cause to whom one has pledged loyalty determines the path... nothing else matters.’
’The path I have chosen is to be by Dante’s side, what does it matter if I can never truly hold his heart? So long as I can be by his side... face the world together, that much is already a blessing.’ Estelle thought to herself.
"You should hurry back now, Lord Dante must be anxious searching for you." The dressmaker added.
Estelle nodded slowly and placed down the pen with which she jotted down the measurements.
Estelle then made her way to the exit but she paused halfway.
"Thank you, for all you do...My Lady." Estelle said to the dressmaker.
Though the dressmaker had made it clear she required no acknowledgement, Estelle did not think it right to leave without saying anything after being confided in.
There were many who worked tirelessly in the background to keep the day to day life of the dragons and their riders running, they too played a major part in keeping the stronghold safe...but no one knew their names, not even the dragons they served.
Estelle inclined her head to a small bow and then took her leave.
Estelle shook her head slightly, still pondering over the words of the dressmaker as she walked down the halls.
"Knowledge truly comes in the unlikeliest of places." Estelle thought to herself.
It was not long before she arrived at the landing platform just when Dante’s maroon beast was in sight.
The dragon shot straight for the landing platform and shifting mid air, landed on his feet.
"How did it go?" Estelle asked Dante, walking over to him.
The expression on Dante’s face already told Estelle all she needed to know.
"They must have caught wind of why I was paying a visit. They would not see me. I have left a note, I cannot force their audience... not today." Dante relayed to Estelle.
Dante had gone ahead to pay a visit to the couple who had lost their daughter earlier in the day, just to communicate condolences and their intentions, however this visit had clearly not gone so well.
"It cannot be easy for anyone, to give up the body of their dead child to be experimented on rather than being laid to rest." Estelle murmured in understanding.
"I also know that... I would not ask it of them if it was not of grave importance." Dante said in agreement.
"You should let me go with you, Uncle Mycroft also wants the same." Estelle added.
"I will, when I am certain we will not be met with aggression. It is already hard enough on you, to have witnessed that..." Dante trailed off.
"I will be fine. I will learn to be fine." Estelle assured Dante, looping her arm around his.
"I have already prepared everything, at dawn, we will go see them together. And we will not force our way in...we will wait until they receive us, even if it means waiting all day. Can you do that for me?" Estelle asked Dante gently.
Dante’s brows furrowed slightly, his inner dominant side adverse to the idea of waiting on anyone when he could easily get his way through other means.
Dante sucked in a breath, taming his more primal side and he nodded in agreement.
"Fine, we will do so." Dante agreed.
"Come, you need to eat, you have not had the chance to get a meal all day." Estelle said, pulling Dante along with her.
"I can go for days without eating, you know." Dante pointed out, chuckling quietly as Estelle scoffed.
"I cannot, and I do not wish to eat by myself." Estelle replied, leaving no room for argument.

Estelle awakened with a start when the door to her room was suddenly thrown open.
"What is the meaning of this?!" Dante who had been seated at Estelle’s desk hissed at the intruder.
Estelle rubbed the sleep off her eyes, getting off her bed, she hurried over to find the intruder was infact Dante’s brother, Damien Mycroft.
"Dan, there is trouble. I spied a mob forming around the funeral home where the dead human girl was laid to rest. I landed to look into it and..." Damien paused slightly.
Estelle and Dante exchanged a look and then looked back to Damien.
"It seems the mother of the girl has also come down with the contagion. And three others in the vicinity... the mob went to the funeral home in their rage, but the couple was nowhere to be found."
"Leaving the body of the child behind, they disguised themselves and have fled Fort Scabbard!" Damien revealed grimly.
"But if the mother has already contacted the contagion..." Estelle trailed off.
"The contagion will spread beyond Fort Scabbard." Dante completed in a quiet tone.
"Stop them! Track them down and capture them!" Dante hissed, storming out of the room.
