Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 584: Do Not Resist ()
Neveah’s claws dug into the ground as she darted across the distance from the light hall to the barrier.
Everon’s massive dragon form flew low overhead and it did not take too long for them to arrive at the barrier.
Neveah passed a look to Lord Eldowin who still focused his magic, channeling into the barrier.
The Fae of the Light Hall could not relent yet, not until they were certain this event had truly ended.
Lord Eldowin lowered his head to a small bow and stepped aside slightly to let Neveah through.
Neveah glanced at the barrier for a moment before she went through it, the expected rush of magic brushed past her but Neveah no longer took notice of it.
Now on the other side, Neveah could see the extent of damage for herself and she could only stare in horrified silence.
The first thing Neveah was confronted with was the dust clogged in the air, it was yet to settle properly.
There was only a small patch of land left separating the barrier from the canyon, and dirt and rocks still rolled down from the jagged edges of the Earth into the depths of the canyon.
Neveah lifted her gaze to Everon and nodded for him to go overhead. Flight was the only way to get over the canyon and Neveah did not have that ability.
Everon flew ahead while Neveah prowled the edges of the canyon, she peered down into the depths, careful not to miss a step that would send her tumbling down.
’Darkness...’ Neveah thought,
Darkness was all she could see, it was impossible to determine just how deep this canyon was but if the shrieks Neveah could hear was any indication, then knowing the depths was the least of their troubles compared to what lurked down below.
’The death gale was not triggered by Xenon’s flight or Coran and Garron’s, then does it mean...it is now...’ Neveah trailed off, leaping away from the edge as more loose rocks crashed down to the depths.
Neveah glanced up to the sky once again, Everon had flown far out of sight and Neveah paced anxiously, her claws scratched the earth as she struggled with the urge to go further into the dark lands.
Just when Neveah was losing patience, she caught sight of Everon’s dragon form far in the distance.
And he was not alone, he supported another massive dragon on one side and on the other side, Garron’s familiar dragon form supported the same dragon.
The dragon between them seemed unconscious or just a moment away from it, he could barely even control his own flight and was completely supported by Garron and Everon.
"Coran!" Neveah thought in dismay,
What had happened was unknown, but all three dragons flew for them.
And then, Neveah noticed Garron’s dragon form sway unsteadily. It happened in just the blink of an eye,
In the next moment, Garron lost hold of Coran and was crashing down from the sky, his wings limp at his sides.
Everon was helpless to aid Garron, not with Coran’s weight completely leaned on him.
Everon himself was slowly losing altitude and struggling to maintain balance.
Neveah’s eyes widened in horror, she glanced back and she could see three of the dune dragons making a desperate bounding flight for Garron.
But they were too far away, as great as their speed were, they would not arrive in time. Garron would crash straight into the depths of the canyon.
Neveah’s mind spun, a violent surge was stirred within her and Neveah struggled to suppress it, but she could not.
’Save him...we have to protect your family. Do not fight me, Veah... do not fail me like Jian has...’ Demevirld’s familiar haunting voice whispered eerily in Neveah’s mind.
With the combined efforts of Neveah and her wolf, Demevirld had been cast to the very depths of her mind, unable to influence her thoughts with his convincing words...
But in this moment, Neveah’s control faltered and that crack was enough for Demevirld’s presence to surge to the forefront of her mind.
Neveah’s claws dug into the earth as her shift was forced by Demevirld’s influence, her form reverted back to human and a wave of magic exploded out of her,
Neveah’s back arched and a pained gasp escaped her. It had all happened in barely a split second, but it felt to Neveah like a lifetime.
Neveah was still crouched on all fours, trembling from head to toe as Demevirld’s overwhelming magic surged through her fragile blood vessels.
Neveah lifted a gaze up, her eyes glowed a bright golden shade, she was not sure what she wanted to do, all she knew was that she had to save Garron.
A portal of the same golden shade opened up right in the path of the three dune dragons and then the exit portal opened beneath Garron.
The three dragons went through the portal before they could stop themselves and in a split second, they had arrived by Garron, right before he could fall below the earth surface.
The dune dragons were quick to stabilise Garron’s flight and surge upwards again, right as a dark swirling mist rose up from the canyon.
Neveah’s gaze narrowed slightly, the dark mist rose steadily like steam, climbing higher and higher and it seemed to be spreading from other end of the canyon.
Neveah’s nose twitched slightly, there was a strange stench carried along with it.
Neveah knew this strange dark mist was responsible for Garron and Coran’s state.
’They must have flown too far ahead and met it.’ Neveah thought.
Neveah slowly got up to her feet, the dark mist spread rapidly over the vast canyon and the dragons were still flying overhead the canyon.
Neveah lifted a hand slowly, her gaze was narrowed as Demevirld’s power swiftly responded to her call.
A glowing golden shield-like wall materialised out of thin air, right over the canyon and up as high as the skies, cutting off the spread of the dark mist from the dragons.
’There now, how pleasant is it? When you do not resist me?’ Demevirld commended delightfully.
