Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 56: Up On The Terrace ()
Neveah stepped out to the courtyard, glancing over the bustle as the guests evacuated the guest palace, seeming much too active than they had any rights to be.
Neveah wondered if posing to be a human for so long has made her accustomed to it, she actually felt completely exhausted and in desperate need of some sleep.
It was a few hours past dawn already and Alessio’s crowning had been celebrated all night long up until the crack of dawn.
Although Neveah had retired early, she had barely gotten any sleep in. Her entire night had been spent tossing and turning in bed, trying to figure out exactly what had happened last night.
Neveah’s hands clenched into fists as she once again recalled the feel of Alessio’s lips on hers, the memory sending a shiver of disgust down her spine.
Alessio had kissed her last night, he had actually kissed her with such passion that it horrified her and then in the blink of an eye, he was gone.
Neveah could not understand it, what exactly was going on with him? Alessio did not even know they were mates yet, for what purpose did he feel it was okay to kiss her?
These were the thoughts that had plagued Neveah’s mind all night long, not granting her even a moment of reprieve.
And what was even worse was the shameful fact that she had been unable to do anything... she had been completely frozen in place, her thoughts in shambles.
Neveah realized the effects of the mate bond on her were getting stronger. In that moment, every sane thought had flitted away from her mind and all she could think about was Alessio.
And then the moment he pulled away, she regained her senses again and was filled with horror and rage
The reality that she was weak and vulnerable to Alessio because of the mate bond horrified her and Neveah lamented her fate that she still had to be bound to him by such a powerful bond.
Neveah had wanted things to begin happening differently from the past lifetime to prove to her that there was hope in changing her fate,
But now that something different had happened, Neveah would rather it had never happened at all.
Neveah stood at a distance from the Eclipse Packs as they prepared for departure, the mood was still one of excitement at what they had all witnessed in the banquet and Neveah wanted to stay detached from it.
Not all of the Eclipse Packs would be leaving Eclipse Fang today, only seven of them were to leave in such a hurry including the Eclipse Hunt Pack and this was owed to Luna Colleen’s condition.
After the effects of the poison had worn off and all the Eclipse Lunas had been restored to health, Luna Colleen had been in a constant state of unease about her pups.
She had come to Neveah everyday for the past four days to confirm her pups were in good health and with each visit from Luna Colleen, Neveah could not help feeling guilty.
She had done what she needed to do to stop the Alphas Summit and gain her father’s permission to go to Eclipse Hunt, yet she had done it by endangering Luna Colleen.
And although Neveah knew there was no harm done to the Luna or her pups, she still believed her actions had been selfish and inconsiderate to someone who treated her with such sincerity.
However there was nothing Neveah could do and even if she were given a chance to change her decision, she knew she would still make the very same one.
All Neveah could do now was make up for it by ensuring Luna Colleen and her pups would be safe, this was her decided method of atonement.
"Veah!" Luna Colleen’s voice broke through Neveah’s thoughts.
Neveah had hoped they would not take notice of her yet but of course, Luna Colleen had still taken notice.
Luna Colleen beckoned on her and Neveah walked over to them, ignoring the looks she received from the other pack wolves of Eclipse Hunt who were not familiar with her.
Amongst these were Vincent and Dechlan and Neveah’s gaze lingered on the two for a moment before she returned her attention to Luna Colleen.
"I know you said we didn’t need to bother about you but I want you to feel at ease, I took the liberty of asking your attendants to pack up some of your clothing and other things you prefer to use... I hope you do not mind." Luna Colleen explained.
Neveah had not intended to take anything with her from Eclipse Fang but since Luna Colleen had already gone ahead to request Laila prepare her travel amenities, she could not oppose.
"It’s fine." Neveah assured with a small smile.
"Dane is with your father, he will be with us in a moment... have you bid your farewells yet?" Luna Colleen asked.
Neveah did not respond immediately, she was not certain how to break it to Luna Colleen that she didn’t actually have anyone to bid farewell to.
There was no one in this Eclipse Palace who cared about her or was concerned about her well being, this had always been Neveah’s reality.
Although the Eclipse Domain knew her to be the treasured Eclipse Princess, the entire Eclipse Fang knew clearly that she was nothing more than a bastard child.
They would much sooner send her on her merry way to the afterlife than bid her farewell.
It was only a relief that the Eclipse Fang Pack house was seperate from the Eclipse Palace and she rarely encountered the pack wolves save for those who had palace duties or when there was an urgent pack meeting.
"Veah... I know this is all in a rush for you, believe me... I would not take you away from your family if I was not in desperate need of your aid. I can only ask you to bear with this for me. " Luna Colleen said in a pleading tone.
"It’s no inconvenience, Luna. I am willing to go with you." Neveah reassured with a small smile.
Luna Colleen returned Neveah’s smile, her eyes shining with gratitude.
"Is there anything you need help with?" Neveah asked quickly, feeling uncomfortable to be confronted with an emotional Luna Colleen.
"Sure, come on." Luna Colleen said and Neveah followed along with her.

Neveah secured the strings of her cloak around her shoulders, Alpha Dane had already returned from the Alpha King’s office and the Eclipse Hunt were ready for departure.
Neveah glanced back at the Eclipse Palace for a moment and it was only then she noticed Alessio standing at the top of a terrace.
"He has been over there for a while now, he must be worried for his little sister." Luna Colleen said with a smile.
Neveah forced a smile, if only they all knew the true faces of the Eclipse royals like Neveah did.
’Worried for his little sister?’ Neveah thought, her eyes narrowed with spite.
Alessio had never once considered her to be his family...not even once, to him, Neveah had always been the shame to his father’s name.
"You should go to him... we will wait." Luna Colleen suggested and Neveah opened her mouth to decline immediately but Luna Colleen cut her off.
"Go on Veah, you will not be seeing him for sometime, do not let him worry for you." Luna Colleen lectured jokingly.
"Yes... I should." Neveah murmured to herself as she turned around and walked back to the terrace.
As Neveah ascended the stairs, she clenched her hands into tight fists as she had hoped she would not have to face Alessio after what had happened last night.
The closer she got to him, her heart tightened with rage at the fact that she had been too weak to rip his head off last night and had let him touch her.
That feeling of helplessness in that moment was akin to what she had felt when Alessio tried to forcefully mate her in her previous lifetime.
He had dared come to her quarters and touch her as though she was a property of his... Neveah hated it, she hated him and hated the fact that even at this moment, she still did not dare oppose him.
She was not strong enough yet...but someday, she would be and she would never have to feel helpless again.
"How long?" Alessio asked as he stared down from the terrace, he did not have to turn around to know Neveah had arrived behind him.
’You should hope I never return... because if I do, I will take everything from you.’ Neveah thought to herself but instead she said something different.
"As long as father allows it, Your Grace." Neveah replied in a tight tone.
Alessio did not speak for a moment, just staring ahead in absolute silence.
"About last night..." Alessio began but Neveah cut him off.
"Your Grace was under the influence of alcohol and mistook me for one of your bed whores...you need not explain this to me." Neveah replied in a blank tone.
" Yes, I did. As long as you understand it." Alessio said, his tone reverting back to it’s characteristic chilling cold.
