Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 546: Lurk ()
The Light Hall, an order of Fae sworn to the Dragon King. They were charged with the sole duty of reinforcing the barrier that spanned the entire stronghold, protecting the stronghold on all sides.
Though an order of Fae, it was completely independent of the influence of the Fae kind and had always been so since it’s founding as this was imperative for it’s operation.
There were as many Light Halls as there were Asvarian Beacons, the beacons and the barrier itself were both dependent on the magic channelled in the Light Hall.
Four Light Halls in total reinforced the entirety of the barrier and each Light Hall was built to hold the capacity of exactly a hundred of the Fae kind, each with their own distinct duties.
The Light Hall also had an established hierarchy, which was determined by dragon kind.
"At the very head, the Lord of the Light Hall and the three arch Fae lords."
"Each one of the arch Fae lords is a Fae with element based magic. The four major elements, fire, earth, water and air and with this ability, they dedicate their lifetime to reinforcing one of the four arches of the Quartrefoil each."
"The union of all four elements created an impenetrable barrier that withstood all forms or manner of darkness, darkness which was a manifestation of the fifth element of spirit... and it has been so since the founding of the stronghold." Neveah murmured quietly, twirling a pen in her hand as she audibly summarised all she had read.
All of this was a part of the basic knowledge her father had impacted to her a long time ago, but it was necessary to place them in consideration while studying the reports.
Neveah was not certain how many hours had passed, she had been too focused on deciphering the reports and now she had gone more than halfway through them, with only about two dozens left.
"The four lords who reinforce the arches play the most significant role. They are amongst the most powerful Fae’s in the stronghold and so their duties cannot be handled by anyone else who has not achieved the same expertise in channeling."
"And following them are the ten Fae who polish the Quartrefoil with light energy daily, channeling the light of the Asvarian Beacon that shines along the length of the barrier and further strengthens it."
"The next rank of Fae have various duties, including keeping the channeling gems clear and untainted for the magic of the four lords to be properly channeled. This duty is regulated amongst different groups." Neveah recalled.
"All hundred Fae from the light lord himself down to the least attendant in the hall are well vetted before they are granted a place amongst the order."
"The current order in the light hall have been consistent for almost a century, though a few minor changes have been made to some personnel in the past decades when the need arose." Neveah continued.
"A year ago, Lord River reported a fluctuation of the light in the beacon, this was the reason Father was furious on the day of our return." Neveah got up to her feet as she truly began contemplating the reports that were most significant.
After all this time, she had narrowed down the reports related to the notes her father had made and placed aside the unrelated reports.
"The source of the issue was traced down to defective channelling gems and to rectify this, the reports tell that father granted Lord River consent to renew the entire Quartrefoil with a new supply of the rare channelling gems, a project that took an entire month and cost a hefty sum of dragon gold."
"The project took so long because they could only renew one arch at a time, as any less than three arches would not be sufficient to maintain the barrier, hence only one arch can be compromised at a period of time." Neveah noted.
Neveah picked up the half written report her father had made, reading through it again.
Amongst her father’s concerns, he had especially highlighted the personnel involved in the restructuring and import of channelling gems who had been granted temporary access into the light hall for the duration of the project.
"Why did father mention them?" Neveah wondered.
Neveah was still lost in her thoughts when she picked up on a familiar scent that drew her attention.
Neveah raised a brow, glancing over to the balcony of her father’s study.
She placed down the report in her hand and walked over to the balcony, pushing the door open.
Neveah stepped out and she was not at all surprised to find King Jian stood there, gazing down at the city below.
"The Dune City has a unique appeal at these hours..." King Jian murmured the moment Neveah was through.
"I hope I am not interrupting your appreciation of that appeal from lurking by my balcony where you should not be." Neveah replied.
King Jian glanced over at Neveah, a ghost of a smile found it’s way to his lips but Neveah did not miss the dark look hidden away in his eyes. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
Neveah found, it had gotten just a little easier to read him now, as cold and collected as the Dragon King was, Neveah could now see things she would not have been able to pick up on if it were even a few days ago.
Neveah could tell whatever the Dragon King had in mind before she had come were not pleasant thoughts.
He had just returned from an interrogation, Neveah did not reckon it had gone so well.
"You have returned... how long have you been here?" Neveah asked as she walked over to him.
"A while." King Jian replied truthfully.
"Why did you not let me know you had come?" Neveah asked, stopping beside King Jian.
"You seemed very focus, I did not wish to disturb you... but my predator will not let me be as we have dearly missed your presence, and so I can only lurk by your balcony where I should not be." King Jian admitted.
