Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 540: From Everything ()
The strange liquid in the pond was perfectly still, as it had been since the first moment Azkar arrived there,
But all of a sudden, it began to churn, finally giving a reaction just when Azkar had concluded he would be unsuccessful.
Azkar turned to the pond, his eyes settled on the rune, still dyed red with his blood.
The rune had begun to glow dimly, reacting to Azkar’s blood a complicated expression reflected in Azkar’s eyes.
Azkar took a few steps back, watching in silence as the pond became violently troubled, swirling about a particular axis.
The swirling grew increasingly faster, almost creating a semblance of a whirlpool down to the depths of the pond and then it stopped, just as suddenly as it had begun.
Azkar waited, with undeniable apprehension. He had watched this happen once before but never had he summoned one of the dark lord’s pets by himself.
It was a privilege the dark lord has allowed to no one but his most trusted aides, because each and everyone of the dark lords pets were extremely powerful, gifted just a tiny strand of the dark lord’s power.
Hence, even in his death, his weapons lived.
These were the last sentinels that were hidden away before the great battle, and thus the few who survived.
Amongst dozens of the dark lord’s pets who all served different purposes, only three could be salvaged and it had taken centuries of slumber to recover their strength.
Azkar had contemplated a thousand times, on when the right time would be to unleash them on the world.
But it was only when he had set eyes on King Jian, only then did it dawn on him that he had allowed his enemies know peace for too long.
He had allowed them revel in the illusion of their victory for centuries, and now... the Dragon King had found his one true happiness, there was no better time than this.
Only one who truly had everything, could feel the depth of pain that came with losing it all..
Once the churning stopped, a monstrous claw emerged first from the pool, and then a second, before a small, strange looking beast rose fully from the depths.
It stepped onto the shores, glancing around with it’s beady eyes.
The beast had a similar size to an imp, with a small build, two large twitching eyes and two oddly long hands compared to it’s short and stout legs.
It’s skin was leathery and moist, and a sizzling sound could be heard from it.
The beady eyes of the creature moved to settle on Azkar, they narrowed slightly, as though in disbelief of who had summoned it.
"I have need for you...how would you like a new and larger home than this pond of yours?" Azkar offered.
Azkar knew the creature could understand his words, it tilted it’s head slightly and then it’s form slowly reformed and reduced, converting into a small object shaped like a ball, with a leathery outer layer.
Azkar crouched down and picked up the ball, twirling it in his hand slightly before he got back up to his feet.
Behind Azkar, Ida approached holding a basin filled up with fresh water.
Azkar turned to Ida, without a word said, he dipped the small ball ever so slightly into the bowl of fresh water and Azkar watched as the water soon began sizzling.
"Still as toxic as ever..." Azkar murmured to himself.
"Where will you send it?" Ida asked Azkar.
"I have given a thought to that...all she cares about is in the White Dunes, except one... the Starron girl, and her Dragon...thus, Fort Scabbard it is." Azkar said, a dark look in his eyes.

Neveah bit down on her lip to contain her anxiety as she headed down the hall to her father’s study.
When Kaideon’s summon had come, Neveah had not been surprised by it...
Kaideon already had questions and after what had happened at the meeting hall, he would have even more questions.
It was a few hours since she had left the meeting hall, timely saved by Cassian’s message to King Jian, whatever it had been.
And now, Neveah contemplated just how she would answer to her father or to anyone else.
The meeting hall of the Dune Castle thankfully was built in such a way that the sounds from within were kept within, in order to avoid significant information being leaked.
Neveah could still comfort herself in the fact that she had not given the entire castle a show.
However, that did not mean the dune dragons had not noticed something was off, and Neveah would soon find out how much exactly they knew.
Neveah soon arrived at her father’s study and she knocked once on the door before stepping in.
Kaideon was seated at his desk, as always and he was by himself this time, his gaze lifted to settle on Neveah the moment she walked in.
"Veah... come." Kaideon beckoned with a nod as he got up to his feet and walked over to the balcony.
’He does not look pleased.’ Neveah surmised.
Neveah had still not heard a single word from her wolf since the meeting hall, going silent in Neveah’s time of need was becoming her wolf’s favorite thing.
Kaideon stood at the balcony and Neveah stepped out behind him, shutting the balcony doors before she walked up to him.
For a moment, they stood in silence until Kaideon broke it.
"Have you come to a decision?" Kaideon asked Neveah.
"I have." Neveah replied with a nod, before she breathed a deep sigh.
"I have many doubts, father. Doubts I just cannot shake off...but even so, I have long known what choice I would make, there was never any path where I traded him... them, for fear of the future." Neveah confessed.
"Them..." Kaideon murmured quietly, there was no surprise in his voice, it just seemed like he was processing it.
"One is the Lord of Onyx Scales... the other is supreme King. Veah...it might only get harder from here on out." Kaideon said, passing a look to Neveah, his tone deeply concerned.
Neveah looked down, nodding slowly.
Kaideon sighed quietly, pulling Neveah into his arms.
"You do what your heart desires, my child. I will protect you... from everything and everyone." Kaideon vowed, rubbing Neveah’s back soothingly.
