Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 531: A Word ()
Xenon’s hand had gone up quite a good measure now and it lingered for a moment just an inch from her inner thighs, his thumb twirling slowly over the fabric of her breeches.
"I have made the necessary arrangements. There is a more pressing matter at hand." King Jian reminded.
"Fort Blazed." Orin murmured knowingly.
When Xenon’s hand moved once again, Neveah stiffened visibly.
Sitting upright on her chair in a casual move, she pressed her thighs together to cut off Xenon’s path, just in case he was insane enough to attempt what Neveah suspected he was going to.
Neveah’s movement had been executed naturally enough that it had not caught any attention, none except Xenon’s gaze which moved to settle on Neveah.
Neveah ignored Xenon’s stare, keeping her gaze fixed ahead of her.
"Indeed. We must confirm what is hidden away by that barrier out in the dark lands and we must do it discreetly..." King Jian said with a nod, trailing off mid sentence.
King Jian’s gaze moved to Neveah and Neveah’s heart shriveled up in apprehension, this time, she was not conflicted on what that look in his eyes was.
At any other time, Neveah would not have caught the reflection of his amusement through his ever blank expression...but somehow, she did this time,
And there was that knowing gaze in his eyes, King Jian was well aware of all that was going on all along, Neveah was certain of it.
"Veah...is everything alright?" King Jian strayed off topic, much to Neveah’s horror.
"Yes...of course, Your Grace." Neveah forced out in the most natural tone she could muster.
"Does not seem like it. You look...stiff." King Jian pointed out.
All eyes turned to settle on Neveah at King Jian’s words.
"Be at ease... everything is under control. You do not have to force your strength today, rest... you have not fully recovered." King Jian’s words were misleading.
Everyone else would take it to be concern for Neveah’s well being, and while there was sincerity in that, there was equally an ulterior motive only Neveah was aware of,
King Jian’s words did not sound like a request at all... ignoring them would only draw more attention Neveah’s way, and King Jian knew this.
With all eyes on Neveah, Neveah slowly leaned back against her chair, relaxing her posture whilst gritting her teeth.
’You should not have run...you have triggered their predator instincts...’ Neveah’s wolf casted blames for the situation.
Neveah could tell her wolf was not at all bothered by the situation and would not take her side even if a panel was called to give judgement to Neveah’s predicament.
"Now you must understand, the dangers of the dark lands are abundant, as you all have witnessed with the death gale. Hence discretion is just one thing... caution is another thing entirely." King Jian carried on with his words.
Xenon in turn, carried on with his torment. His hand slid down to Neveah’s inner thigh, his fingers grazing over the crotch of Neveah’s breeches.
Neveah sucked in a sharp breath, grateful for the barrier her clothing formed, otherwise...
At this rate, Neveah was grateful the dragons did not have a sense of smell as sensitive as that of wolf shifters, they would not be able to pick out the change in Neveah’s scent as Xenon stirred every feeling he should not have been stirring.
Aroused was an understatement, Neveah could feel her body temperature rising in response to the heat spreading through her...it was only now it dawned on Neveah that she did not have as much self control as she had thought.
While their environment should have made it impossible for Neveah to be stirred, instead it was all the more arousing.
Neveah did her best to ignore the growing pool of desire in her lower belly, and Neveah was grateful when Kaideon spoke up...her father’s voice drawing her back to reality.
"I will go ahead with a team of scouts. Study the barrier to identify it’s source and weak points."
"The dune dragons have guarded this part of the barrier for centuries, we are more familiar with the terrain of the dark lands on this end...if anyone can go in undetected by the dark forces, it would be me." Kaideon said.
Neveah’s hand moved to rest over Xenon’s, stopping him from doing anything silly.
"But Father, it has been a long time since you ventured beyond the barrier. It is likely there has been many changes we cannot account for." Neveah spoke up, her tone more shrill than it should have been.
"I understand your concerns my dear, I will be cautious." Kaideon reassured Neveah with a small smile.
Neveah swallowed down her concern and did not protest further, Kaideon was the only one who knew his way around the dark lands as he had kept a close eye in these years.
He was also Dune Lord, this side of the barrier was Kaideon’s responsibility.
Xenon had again been understanding enough to let Neveah get her words out, but now, he reached out with his other hand and gently pried Neveah’s hand away from his.
Neveah could not even struggle, any sudden movement would not go unnoticed.
"Then I will leave it to you, Kaideon. You must return in two days at most, regardless of what findings you make." King Jian instructed.
"I will take Rodvan and Coran with me. It will be best to keep the party as small as possible." Kaideon decided.
"Very well, further orders will be passed on individually to the rest of the enforcers."
"For the time being, you must prepare the White Dunes to serve as the point of confrontation... the twelve squadrons are on standby and my brothers will make flight for the dunes on Kaideon’s report." King Jian dismissed the dune enforcers.
The dune enforcers got up to their feet and Kaideon lead the way out as they would have further deliberations amongst their ranks before his departure.
Neveah made to go with them but Xenon prevented her.
"Neveah will remain here, I must have a word with her..." King Jian announced.
