Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 509: Six Months ()
~The Isle of Kezrar Dun
Azkar’s eyes snapped open and he sat up on his throne, glancing around his hall for a moment, his eyes settled on the small pond of water by the side.
The fishes in the pond had begun circling the edges in a strange manner and Azkar knew they had felt that aura like he had and were thus rightly agitated.
Askel breathed a heavy sigh as he leaned back on his throne and lifted a hand to rub his temples.
The winged man’s eerie methods of communicating his summons had always unsettled Azkar, and that was saying a lot considering Azkar himself was not amongst the best of men either.
It had been sometime since the winged man had last requested Azkar’s presence.
The winged man had entrusted Azkar with his duties and Azkar had done his best to fulfill them accordingly.
Azkar had done a good job of it too, he would like to believe so since he had not been summoned this long and above all, he had not set eyes on Celeste, which to Azkar had been the best part of these past five months.
Azkar guessed the peace he had been basking in had lasted for too long already, he should have expected a change lay in the horizon.
"All I wanted was some sleep...but I see that is too much to ask." Azkar murmured to himself.
The summon came again, this time more urgent than it had been before. The pond in Azkar’s hall began swirling and churning rapidly and Azkar grunted beneath his breath.
And then, Azkar froze up as it dawned on him that something was not right.
"Had it happened already?" Azkar thought to himself in suspicion.
Azkar then shook his head in doubt afterwards, it was hardly possible.
However, his doubt was short lived when Azkar stood up and walked over to the pond.
With a wave of his hand, he dispersed the turbulence and the clear water changed instantly to reveal an image which provided Azkar the confirmation he needed.
"How did he find out so quickly?" Azkar murmured to himself and then he turned and headed out of his hall.
Not so long after, Azkar had arrived in a different scene entirely.
It was the cliff where the winged man always sat and of course, the winged man was right there once again, just like he always was.
Azkar had not even gotten close when the winged man began to address him, sensing Azkar’s presence the very moment he had arrived.
"Shall I expect it to be a tasking endeavour to summon you now, Azkar?" The winged man asked in a chilling cold tone.
"I think My Lord would agree with me that the premise of our relationship dictates that I am not at your beck and call." Azkar replied blankly.
Azkar knew his reminder would not be appreciated, but he did not care much to be appreciated in the first place.
"And the premise of our relationship also dictates that I need not honor our bargains if you prove anything less than useful to me." The winged man also reminded, passing a glance over his shoulder at Azkar.
"This is about the girl." Azkar acknowledged, walking over so he stood a short distance away from the winged man.
"I have ordered you to keep an eye on her. To watch her closely and find the right opportunity to bring her to me..." The winged man began.
"And I have said the time is not yet right." Azkar replied with a raised brow.
"Indeed you have, but what I failed to realise until now is that you have been withholding something from me." The winged man accused.
Azkar brows twitched slightly, he had come expecting it, but he had not thought the winged man would already have discovered it all.
"How much do you know?" Azkar asked, his question earning him a scoff from the winged man.
"What I know is that you, Azkar knew all along that the wolf girl had not only activated the treasure but could control it’s power."
"Or at least, you had suspicions. You saw something... something you have hidden well for however long." The winged man continued.
"The girl is still weak. Yes, her power has developed much faster than I had anticipated but it is not nearly enough for what we need it for..." Azkar began but was cut off by the winged man.
"I disagree. From what has happened today, I can tell she is exactly where I need her to be... I want her, not some time in the future but now." The winged man decided.
"She is still a far ways away from her true potential. If we rush things, all we have worked for will be for nothing. In a few years, she would have more control." Azkar reasoned.
"What you mean to say Azkar, is that in a few years, she would be strong enough for there to be a chance of survival for her after the ritual." The winged man deadpanned.
Azkar’s brows twitched again, a tell tale sign of his agitation.
"Listen Azkar, I do not care what fancy you have taken to the girl but you must know, that I will not delay my plans in consideration of her life...if she can be sacrificed for our grand plan, then it is her honor."
"So no, I will not wait till she achieves her true potential. Whatever you want with her, I will give you six months to have your satisfaction... after which, I expect that she is brought to me..."
"Or believe me Azkar, I will deal with it myself and you know how I handle my own affairs." The winged man made clear.
Azkar did not respond, he turned and took his leave.
Not long after, Azkar was walking through the streets of the dune city, bidding greetings to folks he had made acquaintance with.
With neither his mask nor black robes on, and dressed like the common people, the dark sorcerer Azkar was no more.
In his place was a bright young lad with a mission... and a deadline.
