Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 478: To Begin With ()
Xenon passed Neveah a glance, shifting his gaze away when Neveah also glanced over at him. π³ππ²ππ¨ππ―πππ§ππΉ.π°πΌπ
He maintained his silence and Neveah was in no hurry, she had much more with which she could convict him.
"As it turned out, I ended up choosing to join fatherβs ranks as a dune enforcer. And in all these months, there has not been a single thing I casually mentioned or complained about that was not miraculously delivered to me or taken care of." Neveah continued.
"Now, while I would like to believe I have very blessed luck, the mystery of it all just screams your name, Xenon." Neveah accused.
"How and why? I mean, it could have been anyone...why have you concluded it was me?" Xenon asked, still avoiding Neveahβs gaze.
"Other than the fact that you have admitted it unconsciously? I know you, Xenon. And you are the only one I know that could be so unreasonable." Neveah deadpanned.
Xenon pursed his lips, clearly having no defence against the word Neveah had chosen to use.
"Everyone else would listen and honor my choices, stay away and let me live my life or at least, no one else would be so decisive and obsessive about my personal affairs to the point of being unreasonable."
" But you, Xenon, you only ever do as you please. You do not listen...you are too domineering and possessive to let an entire year of my life pass by without interfering in some way." Neveah accused.
Innocent as Xenon tried to appear, it was exactly so and Neveah knew it. Xenon was naturally a domineering and obsessive man, Neveah had figured this out early enough.
Not a single moment would pass where Xenon would not do exactly as it pleased him and exactly what was in his heart even if it was precisely what he was asked not to do.
"And so, I am not angry at you for not coming to see me. I am angry for quite the opposite...in the past year, you have not let me be for even a moment and I have to wonder, if you believed I would forget you if you didnβt do something to annoy me." Neveah said pointedly.
"I..." Xenon began to say but he trailed off, still having no words to defend himself.
"Look me in the eyes, Xenon. Look at me directly and tell me it was all just a coincidence and you had nothing to do with it. If you say it... I will believe you." Neveah dared.
Xenon hesitated for a short moment but finally, he looked over to Neveah, and as his gaze met Neveahβs expectant gaze, Neveahβs heart did the familiar skip,
She found herself marvelling at those pools of onyx black and just how mysterious and captivating they still were.
It had been a year already, Neveah had hoped she had completely cleared her head by this time. She had even been thankful for the time away from Xenon, time she believed would allow her tame her heart.
But Neveah realized in this moment just how much she had missed this man... how much she still longed for him...a lot had changed in a year.
Was this feeling something that would never change? What had Xenon done exactly that his place in her heart could endure for this long?
"Xenon...do you not have something you want to say to me?" Neveah asked, pulling herself out of her daze.
Xenon blinked, the only visible sign that for a moment there, he had also lost track of what he had in mind.
"Iβm guilty... I just... I was losing my mind being unable to see you, I just had to do something." Xenon muttered, admitting to all of Neveahβs accusations.
"And ignoring my opinion was that something you settled on?" Neveah asked with a small frown.
"I was hoping it would not be so obvious..." Xenon confessed in an apprehensive tone.
"Right... " Neveah hummed.
"And that was why the local physician at the infirmary suddenly became so nice and receiving when he originally considered me unwanted competition?" Neveah asked.
"I am not sorry about that! He threatened you! And you would not allow Kaideon get involved, even kept your identity hidden! No one is allowed to conceive the thought of hurting you, Veah...I will not stand for it..." Xenon clarified, completely unapologetic.
"It was not a threat, Xenon. At least not that serious." Neveah replied with a sigh.
"His exact words were βDo not come around here anymore or I will make you regret itβ. Now, the White Dunes is not his...no one gets to tell you when to come and go and he surely got to understand the meaning of regret." Xenon muttered.
Neveah exhaled a heavy sigh, Xenon was as stubborn as ever and in his hard headedness, he was digging an even deeper pit for himself.
"You know what happened on that day better than I who was even there. Who do you have on me, Xenon?" Neveah asked with a glare.
Xenon chuckled awkwardly as he realised he had let it slip that he was perfectly informed of everything that Neveah had been up to and all that had happened.
"Are you not going to tell me?" Neveah asked, standing up to leave.
"Garron! Itβs Garron..." Xenon gave up his source of information with a wince.
Neveah scoffed beneath her breath, she was not even surprised the mole was one of her uncles. They were furious enough at Menarx to play matchmaker behind her back.
"What an uncle, I have. The traitor..." Neveah murmured.
"He had no bad intentions... Garron owes me a favour and I threatened him..." Xenon again confessed to his actions.
Neveah slumped down to a seat, gazing up at the sky like she would find help and answers there, which of course was a futile attempt.
"What am I going to do with you, Xenon?" Neveah asked in an exasperated tone.
"To begin with...hug me?" Xenon suggested, a beguiling smile on his lips.
