Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 441: Of Onyx Scales ()
"Lord Menarx, it is within our rights to seek that you honor the bond with Princess Adrienne, it is only customary. How can you stand aside and watch your true bonded die for the sake of a replacement?!" Lady Diandre demanded, stepping out from the midst of the Fae council.
Lady Diandre was a fairy with a peculiar identity, she was the high lady of the Fae council as well as one of the very few remaining direct descendant of the deceased High Queen of the Fae.
Had the rulership of the High Queen not been abolished by the deceased High Queen, leaving governance of the Fae in the hands of the clan leaders who formed the council, Lady Diandre was the most suitable candidate for the title of High Queen.
She was also the aunt of the two Fae princesses, Lady Keila and Lady Adrienne.
With long hair cascading down in waves and a face still in the prime of her youth, it would be difficult to tell that this Lady Diandre had lived for over three centuries and held the highest power amongst Fae kind.
Menarx had not expected Lady Diandre had come in person, but the very moment he landed, Lady Diandre had stepped forward and was the first to confront him.
Menarx’s large dragon orbs narrowed slightly as he stared down at Lady Diandre who daringly confronted him from a close distance without a single ounce of fear.
"Narx, you need not have come in person." Imagor thought to Menarx through their link.
A low growl rumbled in Menarx’s throat, he knew exactly what Imagor was worried about and he would not bother denying the possibility of it, but there was absolutely no way he would not see to this himself.
Menarx shifted, reverting back to his human form so he was now on level with Lady Diandre.
"You dare portal here without consent! Approach Dragon Keep, step foot in our Citadel with your royal forces and you believe you can make it a matter of dialogue?!" Menarx demanded.
"The royal forces of the Fae are unarmed, as you can see." Lady Diandre countered, gesturing to the Fae royal soldiers who donned their usual attire but carried no weapons.
"I hope you have left your magic back in your tribe lands then." Lord Cassian replied, making it clear that arriving unarmed did not in anyway reduce the gravity of their actions.
"These Fae warriors are of the royal guard. They are tasked with the protection of the royal family and its heirs and have come to perform their sworn duty!"
"The true descendants of the High Queen, those who carry the pure royal blood are few and far in between, are we to stand by and watch the life of my niece, Princess Adrienne jeopardized by Dragon Kind?!" Lady Diandre demanded.
" You dare interfere in my personal affair?! I will say it here and now, I will not bond your niece! Neveah is my lady and this will not change!" Menarx made his stance clear in a dark, eerily calm tone.
"Watch your words and do not throw accusations around! Your niece had already contacted the poison before she arrived the Keep, what has it to do with us?!" Imagor demanded.
"Besides, we have yet to demand an explanation for the attempt on Lady Neveah’s life by one of your kind using a treasure of your people. If you have come to point fingers, we can very well do the same!" Xenon’s harsh voice put an end to every other conversation that had been ongoing.
"L...lord Xenon..." Lady Diandre stuttered in surprise, her domineering facade dropping at the sight of the Black Fiend.
Word of Xenon’s return had already spread, but it was one thing to hear of it and it was another thing entirely to see it in person...to see Lord Xenon of Onyx Scales as he used to be many decades ago.
Xenon strode over, passing a look to Menarx who was barely restraining himself from lunging at Lady Diandre.
Xenon placed a hand on his shoulder.
’You should go back in, leave this to me.’ Xenon thought to Menarx.
Menarx stared over at Xenon for a moment.
’Do not worry, I will stir enough trouble.’ Xenon assured knowing Menarx did not wish to leave things as calm as they were.
Menarx said nothing but he took his leave.
"Can you prove that the assassination was linked to us?! That he did not act independently?!" Lady Diandre countered, her tone now uncertain to face Xenon directly.
"And he was in possession of an Ixora bloom? The treasured flower of the royal forest, so dearly protected by the royal family by coincidence? A fairy attacked a Lady of the King’s guard in Dragon Keep, take a guess if the Fae can escape responsibility..." Xenon said.
"You must have forgotten your place in these years since I last saw you Diandre. Some flimsy group of fairies dare act out in Dragon territory... very well." Xenon added with a sinister smirk. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
"Sixth squadron! Take everyone here into custody! Arrest them all! Whoever resists... their life is forfeit!" Xenon ordered, a dark look in his eyes.
The sixth squadron complied immediately, the shouts of outrage from the Fae council were completely ignored as the sixth squadron apprehended the entire council as well as the royal guards with them.
"You cannot do this! I will not stand for it!" Lady Diandre shrieked.
"Respectfully, let me escort you My Lady... I will not ask a second time." Imagor offered, gesturing to the Keep.
"Lord Xenon! The Fae clan will not forgive this disrespect!" Lady Diandre vowed.
"As you know... the Fae clan and the Black Fiend have always been at odds. Now that I have returned, we can go right back to it." Xenon replied with a casual shrug.
Xenon stood to the side, watching with arms crossed as the fairies were all dragged away to the Keep.
"Is this really okay? I mean...it is the Fae royal council after all." Cassian whispered to Xenon from where he stood beside him.
"If only I cared." Xenon replied as he followed after the yelling fairies.
