Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 415: Soon Complete ()
Dear Kaideon,
This is already my third letter, I had thought I would not be able to keep this up but somehow I am,
I think it just feels good having someone to talk to... I find myself more in need of it in these days.
It’s been three days since my last letter, we have received His Grace’s orders on the fate of the hidden city and the mission is moving forward as planned, we have already begun the second phase, it is only a matter of time now.
While everything else has been moving according to my plans, these days have still been the most miserable three days....
Neveah’s hand froze mid stroke, heaving a quiet sigh, she scrunched up the paper she had been writing on and tossed it aside.
"Mi Lady will not be sending out a letter?" Mor’rud who had been watching Neveah asked.
"No, Kaideon will get too worried. He might come out here himself and that is something I would not want." Neveah decided, placing her pen back into the pouch she carried.
Neveah leaned back against the tree trunk, not minding the sway of the branch she sat on or the worried look Mor’rud fixed her with from down below.
Mor’rud would always caution that the height was too great and the branches of the tree too fragile,
He feared Neveah would come tumbling down one of these days since she had made this her favorite spot.
Neveah was not certain how to make the dwarf understand that this height was only too high for a human or someone who risked death from a fall.
If Neveah fell and was somehow not agile enough to ensure her safe landing, she would still only sustain light injuries that would heal not long after, it was nothing to fuss over.
"My Lady." A dragon lord called to Neveah from down below, Neveah had already picked up on his approach and so she hummed in response.
"Lord Conrad’s team has returned with a new route, he awaits you in your tent." The dragon lord conveyed his message to Neveah.
"I will be with him shortly." Neveah replied.
The dragon lord took his leave and Neveah reluctantly sat upright, glancing down for a moment before she casually dropped down, much to Mor’rud’s horror.
"Mi Lady!" Mor’rud exclaimed when Neveah landed right infront of him on two feet, her brow raised at his horrified expression.
"You have seen me scale up and down this tree with no trouble for days already and yet you are just as worried as you were on the first day."
"One would think you would have realized by now that you have nothing to be worried for." Neveah pointed out.
"It is mi duty to be worried and so Mor’rud will keep at it, Lord Menarx asked me to look after yer and Mor’rud must do so without fail." Mor’rud replied determinedly.
Neveah was not certain if it had been the short moment of panic believing she would fall or the determination but Mor’rud’s accent which was not always noticeable slipped out and was all the more prominent in that statement.
And the dwarf’s lofty stance when he only came up to Neveah’s waist, as well as the look in his eyes, it was just thoroughly amusing and had Neveah been in the mood for amusement, she would have had a good laugh at it.
"Right, how considerate of him." Neveah murmured in a blank tone as she lead the way back to the camp.
Neveah did mean the words she had just said, but Mor’rud must have mistaken it for sarcasm because he sighed in exasperation.
"What in the stronghold is going on with yer two? Tis already been three days of this tense atmosphere, Mor’rud sees everyone is getting worried but no one dares say anything." Mor’rud asked in exasperation.
Neveah passed a glance over at the dwarf, rolling her eyes at his exhausted expression.
"You would get a better answer from his end... I am not sure I know either." Neveah murmured in response. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
"But mi lady is perfectly fine with his absence? If not, why do yer not send for him? " Mor’rud still asked.
"It’s not like I banished him away or something. I assigned duties that would keep the second patrol team for days,"
"Imagine my surprise when he sends me word that he will lead the second team and no longer the first. He could not even bother coming to see me to tell me in person... some stupid note." Neveah huffed indignantly.
"I am pretty certain I saw the first team before chosing to entrust it to Lodenworth, and now the one I want away is here and the other is away...why am I even telling you this?" Neveah was beginning to rant when she realized she was discussing her thoughts with Mor’rud.
"Because yer need to get it off your chest and yet decided not to write to yer father. Now, yer are having an outburst..." Mor’rud began to explain as though Neveah had truly expected an answer to that question.
"It was a rhetorical question, Mor’rud." Neveah interrupted.
"Ah..." Mor’rud said sheepishly, realizing the explanation had not been needed.
"Mi Lady should send word out to Lord Menarx, demand his immediate return. Yer are usually very domineering, how is it that yer will say nothing now?" Mor’rud asked in bafflement.
"Demand his return?" Neveah asked, shaking her head slightly.
Mor’rud did not understand what was wrong with Menarx but Neveah did know, how could she demand his return?
Neveah said nothing more till they arrived back at the tent where Lord Conrad and Lady Fiona had been waiting.
"My Lady." The dragon and rider pair greeted in unison.
"Conrad, Fiona... what news?" Neveah asked, walking over to her table to take a seat.
"As My Lady predicted, the supply routes come from the west of the plains this time. The route of the team from last night have been documented." Conrad relayed to Neveah, handing Neveah a small note.
Neveah opened it and studied the mapped out routes, she then rolled out a much bigger paper and after comparing with a map, she fitted the small note at it’s rightful position in what looked like a large puzzle of land and landmarks.
"My lady... the routes all fit in perfectly, we are just a few more routes short of the complete picture." Conrad commended.
"Indeed. In just a few days more, our map will be ready, then we can make use of what the second team has been working on." Neveah agreed with a nod.
