Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 405: Hear Her Out ()
"Veah, love...are you up?" Menarx called quietly as he stepped into Neveah’s quarters, accompanied by Everon.
Neveah groaned in annoyance at the rays of light that seeped in through the opened door, she had kept her room in absolute darkness to give the illusion that it was still nighttime.
"What is it this time? You know I do not wish to see anyone, Narx." Neveah grumbled as she sat up on her bed, glancing over at the unwelcome guests.
"It has been three days already, Neveah. You hardly leave your quarters and have ignored all the summons from the academy, you have refused to see anyone but Kaideon and Menarx." Everon accused.
"That’s because I’m not just anyone, I can’t be looped in with the rest of you." Menarx defended, walking over to Neveah and placing a light kiss on her forehead.
"Whatever." Everon scoffed out.
"Truly Veah, If I did not know already, I would think you just had your heart broken." Everon pointed out matter of factly as he pushed open the curtains as well as the balcony doors to let in light.
"Can you just leave me alone?" Neveah asked though she knew it was a futile request.
"You had a falling out with King Jian, which in my opinion has been long coming. You have every right to be angry, I just do not see why you are taking out your anger on your own self." Menarx spoke up.
"You both have never been on good terms in the first place, this shouldn’t be a big deal at all." Everon supported as he inspected his work in brightening up Neveah’s room.
"You will be the first rider who rejects her place on the king’s guard, everyone is talking about you and how you gave the Dragon King a piece of your mind."
"Added to that, news of all that happened during the council gathering has already spread all around. Lady Neveah of the White Dunes and the Lady of Ruby scales, you should be the most popular person in the stronghold already." Everon said, laughing to himself.
"That is precisely why I do not wish to step out. I do not want to hear anything that would further annoy me... much less cross paths with him by any chance. I just might snap again and hit him." Neveah grumbled as she kicked off her covers and sat up on her bed.
"If you go to the academy as everyone is begging you to, you won’t have to see him. The academy masters all believe you blame them for letting you get abducted, they keep requesting audience... even that old crook, Maloway." Everon reasoned.
"He was the one who sent me there in the first place. I won’t ever do what he wants me to ever again. Attending the academy is for riders who plan to be loyal to the crown, what would I do with that knowledge?" Neveah replied with a scoff.
"You really are throwing a tantrum now. I wonder what Menarx thinks about that." Everon said in amusement.
Neveah sighed quietly as she glanced between Menarx and the heap of gifts and other random stuffs she had received in the past three days, all of which were Menarx and Lady Kaliana’s efforts to pacify her.
There were even a few from Lords Imagor and Kirgan, the first she could understand, as for the second, Neveah was not so certain why Kirgan was getting involved.
Other than the fact that she completely ignored everyone these three days and Kirgan most likely just wanted some peace restored to the Keep.
"He thinks he can sweet talk me into overlooking the fact that your King never apologized." Neveah replied, referring to Menarx like he was not there.
"I think you should just accept the gifts, Jian would die before admitting any wrong." Everon advised.
Neveah also knew that, it was exactly why it was all the more annoying. The fact that she obviously deserved an apology but would never get one.
"You see, that is the problem with you all. Everyone is on his side! You all believe he is above apologizing for his wrong and it’s terrible to watch, I best just stay here." Neveah huffed out in annoyance.
"Okay, okay, calm down. Don’t get worked up now, you’re still in recovery." Everon advised, walking over to Neveah to check her condition.
"I’m fine, Everon." Neveah assured.
"Very well then. If nothing else, what do you plan to do about Kaliana?" Everon asked, taking a seat on Neveah’s bed.
"What do you mean?" Neveah asked, crossing her arms over her chest.
"You know what I mean, Veah. You have refused to see her at all, unlike our mutual friend, she is truly sorry at least." Everon reasoned with a sigh.
"Yes, Veah. She has gone to Dante and Estelle also, I cannot keep sending her away, you should hear her out." Menarx agreed.
Neveah frowned slightly, she turned Kaliana away multiple times for the past three days.
Thinking of all she had gone through just to save Kaliana and her child, Neveah just did not wish to see her.
"She should be sorry, and her being sorry changes nothing." Neveah deadpanned.
"Well, you are going to hate us for this then. I told you she wasn’t ready, Everon." Menarx murmured guiltily.
Just at that moment, Neveah’s door came open again and Lady Kaliana walked in.
Neveah’s eyes narrowed slightly, watching as Everon swiftly took his leave, leaving behind only Menarx to bear the brunt of her anger.
"Narx, I can’t believe you." Neveah accused. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
"Veah, give Kalia a few minutes only, for me." Menarx asked, taking Neveah’s hand in his.
"This is emotional blackmail." Neveah pointed out.
"Gods, I love you!" Menarx gushed, laughing quietly when Neveah shoved him away from her.
Menarx headed out of Neveah’s room, placing a hand on Kaliana’s shoulder as he passed by her and it was only when the door was closed that Kaliana spoke.
