Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 399: Who The Trial Was Meant For ()
"That being said, it should be your turn to explain why exactly you were present in the academy on that night. And how I ended up in dwarf territory on said night." Neveah asked Davina who just stood, wringing her hands.
"I did nothing, I do not know anything." Davina claimed innocence but everyone had already witnessed her guilt for themselves.
"You have made it clear that you do know something, Davina. You can no longer deny that fact, you now face the council’s judgement if you cannot provide us a reasonable explanation." Everon warned.
"Lying before the council is a grave crime, false testimony against a Lady of the King’s guard is an even greater crime and these are but a few of the charges you bear for all you have said and done today, beginning from contacting the elven council and beating the petition drum."
"All of these crimes piled together will earn you nothing short of a death sentence, Davina. Unless you have a reasonable explanation for all of this, then now would be the time to give it." Lady Kaliana advised.
"I... I have nothing to say." Davina stuttered out.
"I did not expect you to. This trial was never meant for you, anyways." Neveah replied just as the doors came open and Estelle walked in along with Dante who pulled a screaming Lady Adrienne along with him.
"Unhand me! Unhand me this instant!" Lady Adrienne shrieked, struggling against Dante’s hold.
It took her a moment, but when Lady Adrienne realized where she had been brought to, all her struggles stopped, she completely froze up, her eyes wide in horror as Dante pulled her over till she stood right in the center of the hall.
"Young Lord Dante, this is the princess of the Fae, accord her some respect. " Lord Everon cautioned.
"I don’t care who she is, I was asked to bring her here and she did not wish to comply." Dante replied with no remorse whatsoever.
"How did you find her and bring her here? My men are yet to report back." Kirgan asked with a raised brow at Dante’s timing.
"I have asked Dante to bring me the Lady Adrienne seeing as her name was sure to come up during the course of the trial, I would like her present while Davina explains what it was exactly that happened on that night." Neveah replied instead of Dante.
Neveah’s eyes were still fixed on Davina, watching her reaction to Lady Adrienne’s presence and as expected she had grown even more anxious.
"Your Grace, what is going on here..." Lady Adrienne said as she glanced around the hall looking perfectly confused.
"The council has received a testimony that you were seen at the academy on the night Lady Neveah was abducted. However, Davina here claims you are innocent and she infact was the one at the academy on that night."
"However, she has refused to explain her reasons and so the council will need to be cleared on exactly what happened on that night." Kirgan explained the situation to Lady Adrienne.
"Why would anyone make such unreasonable claims? I surely was not present at the academy on that night. The academy is off limits to all except the Lord Dragons and dragon riders, how could I have been there?" Lady Adrienne asked in complete surprise and bafflement.
"That unreasonable claim came from me." Neveah chipped in, her expression blank as Lady Adrienne fixed her with a look of disbelief.
"I am well aware that you do not like me, Lady Neveah. We have had our differences, but I have done nothing to warrant such animosity from you... how could you claim to have seen me at the academy?" Lady Adrienne asked, her tone already trembling.
"You are very right to say I do not like you and it is good you know it. As I have said before the council, I intend to stand by my testimony if Davina cannot provide a reasonable explanation." Neveah replied clearly.
"Davina has confessed to it, why are you still dragging me into this? Your Grace, this is absurd!" Lady Adrienne cried helplessly.
"On the night I was abducted at the academy, it all happened so seamlessly that not even the dragon guards were able to tell what had happened."
"There were no records of anyone entering or leaving the academy, either. There was no evidence left behind of what happened and it appeared as though I disappeared off the face of the earth." Neveah said calmly.
"I do not understand what any of that has to do with me!" Lady Adrienne exclaimed.
"Oh, but you do. It all would have been a perfect plot if only the mastermind considered for a moment that a perfect plot is in itself an evidence." Neveah continued.
"Davina is a human through and through. She has no magic whatsoever, she is not a dragon rider, neither is she a skilled warrior."
"There is no possible way she could have gone unnoticed if she had entered the academy through any of the gates and she could not have gotten into the academy in any other way... unless of course, she had some help." Neveah continued.
"How did Davina get in and leave the academy unnoticed, even with an extra person, you might wonder?" Neveah asked.
"Portal." Estelle announced.
"There were no traces of a portal in the academy." A dragon lord spoke up.
"The unique thing about a jump portal is the fact that if you did not witness it being cast, it leaves no traces behind."
"However, Mor’rud tells me a jump portal requires potent magical energy and so it is not an art that can be used by just anyone." Neveah continued.
"That is correct, those who can cast such a portal are few and far in between. Here in Keep Skies, there are only the most talented mages of the academy of magic and..." Everon began but trailed off at the end.
"Royal born fairies." Menarx completed.
