Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 381: What Now? ()
’It all leads back to the Eclipse Domain...’ These words echoed repeatedly in Neveah’s mind.
Rage unlike anything Neveah had ever felt before surged within her veins, but there was an even stronger emotion that settled heavily in her heart... despair.
How had eighteen years of her life been completely ruined in the hands of those she had thought to be her family?
How had she spent her days groveling for everything she rightly deserved?
Grasping at straws, fighting for every day of life and bleeding out her heart with no one to rely on, sinking further and further into the darkness of all her pains...
Yet all for what? For what reason had she been put through all of this? Could there even be reason enough? What could make up for the life she had led and that she had lost?
A strangled sob escaped Neveah’s lips as she struggled to fight back the tears and withstand the terrible ache in her heart.
"Veah... may I hold you?" Kaideon asked, his tone was thick with a pain that mirrored Neveah’s.
Pain for all he had lost and pain for all that he had failed to do right...all he had not even had the chance to do right and all that had let things come to this.
If it were any other time, Neveah would have succeeded in hiding her emotions, in burying them in the depths of her heart and pretending they never existed.
Emotions, these terrible pesky things made one weak...were these not the teachings Alpha King Lothaire had impacted to her?
Forcefully engraved on her heart through countless inflicted pain and tortures before it had finally become a part of who Neveah was?
But this time, these emotions that had built up over years and years forced their way out, Neveah felt like she would explode if she did not let it out.
Neveah lay her head down on Kaideon’s shoulder as the sobs wracked through her, her entire form trembling.
She clutched tightly to Kaideon’s shirt, as though if she did not hold on so tightly, she would fall apart.
Kaideon wrapped his arms around Neveah, holding her just as tightly as she cried her heart out, her quiet sobs growing louder by the second.
The door came open and Menarx stormed in, his eyes which were blazing with rage quickly converted to a pained look as he took in the sight of Neveah crying in Kaideon’s arms.
Menarx was not alone, for whatever reason, King Jian had come in with him and now they both stood in silence and watched Neveah completely fall apart, her devastated cries tearing at the hearts of anyone who could hear her.
Menarx and King Jian both knew this was not a moment they could or should interrupt and so they said not a word, taking their leave once again.
Silent tears slipped out of Kaideon’s eyes as Neveah’s tears soaked up his shirt, he held Neveah and rubbed soothing circles down her back. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
It took a while, but Neveah’s sobs slowly calmed, her trembles also stilled and her hands clutching Kaideon’s shirt dropped to her sides.
"I... I’m sorry..." Neveah began to say but Kaideon cut her off.
"Hush...never apologize for showing your truth, child."
"You have every right to scream your heart out if you so desire, I will be right here to hold you together, so crumble if you will... the world be damned... " Kaideon whispered firmly, brushing Neveah’s hair away from her face.
Neveah nodded her head slowly. Now that her tears were spent and her heart had calmed, it dawned on Neveah that her entire reality had just changed.
Kaideon of the White Dunes was her father, it was still difficult to accept and Neveah knew it would take her a long while before she could come to terms with this.
And then there were the secrets the Eclipse Domain was hiding and the truth of what had really happened with her mother.
With the answers Neveah had gotten came so much more questions and Neveah now had all the more reason to live, because she needed to know...to fully understand what had happened eighteen years ago.
"What are we to do now?" Neveah asked quietly, her head still rested on Kaideon’s shoulder.
"Now, we bide our time and make plans. Do not burden your heart, I will find you the answers you seek... the answers we need, at any cost." Kaideon vowed to Neveah solemnly.
Neveah did not doubt Kaideon would do just that, rather than doubt, Neveah was more worried that this would now define Kaideon’s life.
The Eclipse Domain had dealt enough damage to Neveah’s own heart, she did not wish for Kaideon to face the same pain because of them...but it could not be helped.
Neveah did not need any words to know there was nothing that could stop Kaideon from finding out what truly happened to his rider.
And Neveah shared the same thought, she would give anything to know what they had done to her mother, even if it meant razing down the entire Eclipse Domain to get to the truth.
And there was this one mercy fate had granted Neveah for the first time, even if it had come eighteen years late, Neveah knew now that she was not alone, she would never be alone anymore.
"And us?" Neveah asked quietly.
"I have waited eighteen years not knowing what exactly I was waiting for, now I have finally found you."
"I can wait some more Veah...for however long it takes for you to let me in, to let me be your father." Kaideon assured.
"Thank you." Neveah whispered, her eyes growing heavy with sleep.
"No, thank you Veah... for returning to me." Kaideon adjusted as he carried Neveah into his arms and took her over to her bed, placing her down and pulling the covers over her.
"Get some rest." Kaideon said, sitting beside the bed.
"Does this mean... I am now the heiress of the white dunes..." Neveah asked sleepily, a playful smile on her lips.
Kaideon chuckled quietly but nodded.
"That is exactly what it means, Lady Neveah." Kaideon agreed with an adoring smile.
