Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 38: Mate ()

"Veah, the moon banquet begins in a few minutes. Come on out..." Alpha Dane called out to Neveah.

Neveah groaned beneath her breath, she had hoped to get some time to herself but of course her father had sent orders for her to attend Alessio’s banquet.

Neveah did not think there was anything to celebrate, Prince Alessio had always been the undisputed heir, why did everyone have to act as though it was such an amazing thing now?

Prince Alessio was the first and only male descendant of the Alpha King, it was no surprise that he had obtained the Creator’s blessings.

Neveah did not see what was so special to be celebrated with such a grand banquet, Alessio had been handling royal affairs since he turned twelve.

Granting him a third of the Eclipse territory to manage was hardly worth all the ruckus,

Neveah knew her father would not be dying anytime soon, as much as that would have been an event worth celebrating, she had long accepted the fact that men like her father lived long lives.

Which meant, Alessio would not be Eclipse King for at least another decade, being named official heir was nothing special.

However Neveah seemed to be the only one who held such opinion as everyone else was clearly elated at the prospect of a banquet in Alessio’s honor.

"Veah?!" Alpha Dane called again.

"I heard you the first time!" Neveah said back as she got up to her feet and strode out, rolling her eyes at an inpatient Alpha Dane.

"What is it with you women and taking forever to get dressed? We’ll be the last to arrive and Lothaire and I are not on the best of terms." Alpha Dane grumbled.

"Since when did you care what my father thought? Besides, arriving last is good too...you get to parade Aunt Leen about." Neveah pointed out, rolling her eyes when Alpha Dane grinned.

"I’ll just go on ahead so I don’t interrupt your plans, my father must have sent someone for me." Neveah said as she headed out with a shake of her head.

Neveah had known the moon banquet was a terrible idea, yet she had not expected it would be this terrible of an idea.

The very moment Neveah arrived at the highest mountain range, a mouthwatering scent invaded her senses and Neveah froze up, her heart sinking down to the pit of her stomach.

’Could it be...?’ Neveah thought to herself, not daring to complete her thought.

She had heard of that moment, that moment when one caught the most intoxicating scent you had ever had the pleasure of inhaling,

That scent that had you weak in the knees, that scent that could only mean one thing...a mate.

Neveah glanced around, her eyes wide as they searched through the seating arrangement of the young alphas before arriving at the center of everyone’s attention...Prince Alessio Terran Lothaire.

Just as Neveah was searching for him, it seemed he was doing the same,

And the very moment their eyes met, Neveah’s wolf whispered a single word in her mind, a word that had Neveah’s heart shriveling up in terror rather than joy.

’Mine.’ Neveah’s wolf said to her and Neveah shook her head in disbelief.

’No...no, never!’ Neveah thought in panic as she watched Alessio’s gaze narrow warningly.

His lips moved to form words and Neveah was familiar enough with him to catch his message despite the distance.

’Don’t you dare move.’ Alessio warned, as though knowing Neveah intended to run for the hills.

Neveah was frozen, unable to move as Alessio’s gaze held hers from where he sat, his orbs glowing, revealing his wolf was on the surface.

His lips moved again and Neveah again caught his words.

"Come here...mate..." He said.

Neveah could hardly hear anything other than her own heartbeat, her gaze was fixed on Alessio’s glowing green orbs and she could not avert her gaze no matter how desperately she wanted to.

As though she was entrapped in a spell, even when reason screamed at her to recall who Alessio was and all he had done, her heart kept beating erratically.

However, the moment Alessio rose to his feet when Neveah did not comply with his order,

Neveah’s senses returned and in a flash, she turned and took off into the woods.
