Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 364: Immobile ()
The minutes passed by quickly while the stream remained still and Neveah was quickly growing uneasy.
"They are underwater, they should have a need for breath already... how could they still stay submerged?" Neveah murmured to herself.
It was nothing short of displeasing having to wait without knowing what exactly was going on and Neveah herself truly did not care much for Dante’s assurance.
The first thing everyone ever thought about nowadays was keeping Neveah safe before their own selves,
It was a strange difference from Neveah’s reality back at the Eclipse Domain and the first few months after arriving Dragon Keep,
So strange that Neveah still struggled with all the protectiveness.
’We all have a different level of endurance to different factors. Dante is a battle dragon Neveah, we do not compare to his ability, stay calm.’ Neveah’s wolf thought back to her.
Neveah groaned beneath her breath, it was indeed a fact that Dante was recognised by the second squadron as an experienced battle dragon, he would not be easily taken down.
The first change Neveah took notice of a few moments later was the red coloration that bubbled up to the surface.
It began as a small patch on the surface of the water, but that patch grew wider in just a few moments as even more blood blended with the water in the stream.
A blood patch could have meant many things, but Neveah wanted to believe it meant only what she thought it did.
Not long after, a gasp echoed across the clearing as Estelle’s head broke the surface first.
Neveah hurried over and extended a hand down to help Estelle climb out of the water.
Estelle took Neveah’s offered hand, gasping for breath in between coughs.
"Where’s Dante?" Neveah asked, as she pulled Estelle out.
Neveah breathed a sigh of relief when Dante’s head also broke the surface before Estelle could respond.
Dante seemed unharmed as he walked over to the edge, the stream had suddenly returned to normal and the bottom could now be seen revealing it was never so deep in the first place.
"What just happened?" Neveah asked, staring at the shallow edge of the stream which the bottom was very visible and unlike it had been a moment ago.
"Some hidden whirlpool in the water formed by dark magic, sucked us right in. The dark fairies have planned this attack out with much detail." Dante revealed with a frown.
"There were two of them down there... wherever that was." Dante explained the delay as he tossed the dagger in his grasp to the ground.
Dante then crouched down beside Estelle to inspect her condition, Neveah wisely stepped away in order not to interrupt the two.
"I’m fine... I’m unharmed, but you were hurt..." Estelle replied, still sucking in deep breaths of air.
Neveah glanced over to Dante who shook his head slightly.
"It is just a scratch from the second dark fairy who ambushed us, it will heal." Dante replied dismissively.
"It should have already but it clearly hasn’t, you know how dark fairies play with poisons." Estelle insisted, pulling Dante’s hand to inspect the injury.
"Look, it’s still bleeding. You heal fast Dante, a scratch shouldn’t linger." Estelle fussed.
"A scratch? Can I take a look at it?" Neveah asked and Estelle nodded quickly before Dante could protest.
Neveah leaned down and checked the scratch on Dante’s forearm, each scratch was about a few inches long and had been left by extremely sharp fingers.
They were not so deep, just surface wounds but the flesh around the scratch was red and swollen.
"It is poisoned, just as you said. How could you guess?" Neveah said with a frown, looking to a wide eyed Estelle.
"My father once told me during combat practice that dark fairies lined their claws with deadly venoms, it is why they never bother wielding weapons."
"Between their magic and poisoned claws, they have about enough to take down even the strongest opponent." Estelle replied in a panicked tone.
"Do we need to find a physician? We should go to Lord Everon!" Estelle exclaimed anxiously, already getting up to her feet.
"Elle, calm yourself. We can’t go back there or anywhere near the battle, do you forget Lord Decaron’s instructions?" Dante reminded, placing a hand on Estelle’s shoulder to keep her still.
Neveah watched the exchange between the two and she could surmise there was a reason they had parted ways with Decaron and left him to lure their attackers away all by himself. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
Neveah also knew it was being kept from her intentionally and so she did not ask.
"Dante is a dragon lord, a little poison won’t take his life. I have some experience with poisons, there’s no cause for concern." Neveah assured as she studied the scratch again.
She applied pressure down on different areas up the length of Dante’s forearm with measured force.
"This poison seems to have a paralysing effect, your muscles are getting numb." Neveah murmured to herself.
"What are we to do?" Estelle asked.
"I cannot prevent the numbness from spreading, but I can prevent it from leaving any lasting effect."
"Dante will be immobile for a short moment, we will have to rely on Eidon to take care of the rest. We must go find Menarx once the effect subsides." Neveah murmured.
"Would you need anything?" Estelle asked immediately.
"The blue bell flower and some fresh water would do, I saw a groove of it on our way here." Neveah said to Estelle.
"I’ll get it." Estelle replied, rising to her feet while Neveah gestured for Dante to sit against a tree.
Estelle was about leaving but stopped and headed back to Neveah.
Taking off a satchel from beneath her cloak, she handed it to Neveah.
"Hold onto this for me. It’s safer wherever Dante is." Estelle said.
Neveah raised a brow, passing a look to Dante who nodded slightly and Neveah took the satchel, strapping it over her back.
