Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 361: A Trail 2 ()
"What in the world?" Neveah whispered in horror.
She had heard of the affinity fairies had to nature but she had not expected there was even the possibility of something like this.
Neveah knew she could never have suspected anything till the dark fairy landed a fatal attack while she was completely defenceless.
The dark fairy hissed in rage, still lunging for Neveah but Neveah was quick to spin out of the way, grabbing hold of the hilt of the dagger,
She buried it further into the chest of the fairy, blood gushed out as Neveah twisted the dagger viciously, effectively ending the life of the fairy.
Neveah retrieved the dagger, blood spraying over her face but she paid it no heed.
Turning around to face the person who had just saved her life, Neveah was surprised to find Dante, Estelle and a familiar dragon lord.
The dragon lord was a young man with caramel brown hair trimmed short to his skull and gray orbs, displaying a scar that began from the side of his head down the base of his neck.
Neveah had seen this dragon lord once or twice around the Keep, he was a highly respected warrior of the second squadron, but also one of the least friendly.
He was the kind of personality that attendants were taught to stay out of his way when he passed by,
Neveah recalled Davina had precisely warned her never to display her stubborn antics anywhere near this dragon lord or she would not live to tell the tale.
It was funny how much twists fate had in store, this was a fleeting thought in Neveah’s mind as the dragon lord approached her, lowering his head to a bow.
"Lady Neveah, I am Eidon of the second squadron. Are you unharmed?" Eidon asked, his brows furrowed slightly as he inspected Neveah’s state.
"Yes, I am fine, thanks to you. How did you guys find me?" Neveah asked, glancing over at Dante and Estelle who came up behind Eidon.
"I was on the trail of the storm singers and so within close range, Lord Menarx sent me your way as soon as you parted ways."
"However I was slightly delayed when I encountered the young Scabbard dragon."
"I am duty bound to ensure the safety of my kin, forgive my untimely arrival." Eidon reported objectively and then apologized.
Neveah blinked in astonishment at the formal recount of the events and moreso at the apology.
"You have just saved my life, Lord Eidon. I would say your arrival was timely." Neveah dismissed, her gaze moving to Dante and Estelle.
"What happened? I thought you were headed to the Citadel." Neveah asked, though she could already guess.
"We did not get far, we were attacked, Lord Decaron diverted our pursuers and we were separated." Dante also reported.
"Decaron is by himself then?" Neveah asked.
Neveah recalled Cassian had mentioned in passing that there was something in Decaron’s care.
Dante had also mentioned they were headed to the Citadel to ensure the safety of something,
Though no one had directly mentioned it to Neveah, Neveah surmised whatever they spoke of was great importance and had attracted all this trouble.
Whoever was in possession of it was the true target and if Decaron had it in custody and was alone, he would face the full brunt of this attack.
"Lord Decaron will do much better on his own, My Lady. He is captain of the royal dragon guard, one of our finest warriors." Eidon assured.
Neveah nodded slowly, there was no need to speak of her thoughts when whatever they were protecting was being kept a secret.
It would not be long before Rodvan and Kaideon got to Decaron too, Neveah could not say much of others but she trusted in the dune lord’s ability, Decaron would be safe.
"How is the situation at the camp?" Neveah asked Eidon.
"Everon has it in hand, but dragon fire has spread far, you should not consider returning till it is safe." Eidon replied.
"Menarx wants you to keep me safe then?" Neveah asked to be sure.
"Lord Menarx orders me to rely on your guidance to find the storm singers and bring you to him once they are eradicated." Eidon relayed his orders.
"It’s good you all are here then, if we can take down the...storm singers," Neveah began, using Eidon’s choice of words.
"The battle will be over swiftly. The troll golem is in these parts, this beast is at it’s full strength in darkness and with the storm making flight treacherous,"
"His Grace and the king’s guard will be disadvantaged facing the troll golem in battle."
"We have only a short time to take out the storm singers before a battle breaks out. If we split ways, we can get it done in half the time." Neveah relayed.
"Splitting ways would mean leaving you to yourself. The forest is dangerous at this time, My Lady." Eidon protested.
"As am I, Eidon. You will work faster alone, Dante and Estelle will go with me, Dante can keep me safe." Neveah compromised.
Neveah leaned down to the ground, grabbing a stick, she began drawing out a shape.
"This is how I believe the dark fairies have positioned themselves, given the locations of the first two... only this formation can amplify their magic to this extent." Neveah relayed whilst drawing it out.
Eidon and Dante crouched down, studying Neveah’s drawing.
There two locations they had found the first two fairies at were crossed out on the formation, leaving only six points left.
"The trouble is, I do not have a map to match the locations exactly." Neveah said.
"Let me." Eidon offered, taking the stick from Neveah’s hand.
"Fitting this into the map, this location is also taken care of... I killed one of them storm singers on the way."
"This leaves five locations, and I know this forest well enough, I will give you the directions you need." Eidon said.
