Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 359: You, Die ()
Neveah’s eyes were narrowed in focus, fierce winds howled all around them, signalling the beginnings of a storm.
The chilling cold wind whipped through her hair as Menarx soared over the forest at blinding speed,
Neveah ducked low to navigate the tumultuous winds that had begun the very moment they took flight.
It was hard to see far ahead of them, the shadows sung by the dark fairies seemed to trail them on all sides and the howling wind was of no help either.
"It’s dark, hold tight." Menarx thought to Neveah as he surged forwards with even greater speed.
They soon caught up to Cassian and they had only gotten a short distance away from the camp when Neveah sighted a silhouette in the distance.
It was a mass of shadow that moved so fast, Neveah was not even certain she had seen anything at all.
Neveah squinted slightly, letting her wolf rise to the surface to amplify her senses.
Neveah’s eyes glowed dimly and it was then she caught sight of the form of a beast in the shadows.
It charged from the side, in complete silence and Cassian’s gaze was fixed ahead of him, he would not take notice of it.
"Cassian! Watch out!" Neveah screeched, but that was all she could get out as the monstrous beast with bat-like wings crashed right into Cassian,
It was about two times smaller than Cassian but it’s speed was blinding and it’s form was pitch black like the shadows itself.
Still, Cassian had caught it at the last moment.
The two beasts tumbled through the sky and Cassian quickly gained the upper hand, the jaws of the large sapphire dragon clamped down harshly on the other beast and tossed it away.
Neveah did not have the time to worry about Cassian as two of the same beasts soon charged Menarx on both sides.
Menarx banked to the left, escaping one of the beasts, his tail flung out, crashing into the other beast and crushing it’s skull on impact.
But the beast only disintegrated into shadows and soon reformed, charging again.
"They’re not real. They’re sung to life by the dark fairies." Neveah asserted.
"Shadow beasts, it is an art of dark magic. They are even more lethal than true beasts." Menarx thought back to Neveah.
Neveah’s gaze darted about quickly, watching as more of the beasts were formed by the shadows.
’Mor’ rud says the summoning magic of fairies is far different from sorcerers.’
’ It has a short range of effect, one of the dark fairies have to be close by to sing life to the shadows.’ Neveah thought to her wolf.
Somewhere in the shadows, the dark fairy behind these shadow monsters would be there, singing her enchantment.
Neveah’s eyes glowed brighter as her wolf rose entirely to the surface, tracking the source of the melody that rang even louder all around them.
"Narx, go left!" Neveah thought to Menarx.
Menarx swerved quickly, following Neveah’s direction.
They were linked in mind and so Menarx heard the words Neveah exchanged with her wolf, he understood their intention.
He turned to the left, narrowly escaping being hit by one of the shadow beasts.
Cassian could see to the beasts in the meantime, but they would not get past those shadows just by battling them.
Neveah’s gaze scanned the forest, settling on a clearing down below.
’There, someone is there.’ Neveah’s wolf thought to her.
"Let me off, you have to help Cassian. Go to Jian when it clears, I’ll do better on land with this storm, I’ll catch up...trust me." Neveah thought to Menarx.
Menarx hesitated, a growl of displeasure escaping him as he gave in.
"Be careful." Menarx thought to Neveah.
Menarx banked low and Neveah leaped off, shifting mid air so she landed with no harm.
Menarx took off again and Neveah’s wolf eyes scanned the forest,
Her ears twitched slightly, locking on to the trail before she dashed for the clearing
Neveah soon caught sight of her target, a strange looking woman sat in the middle of the forest, beneath a large tree.
There were no words uttered from her, but the potency of the dark aura around her told Neveah all she needed to know.
The dark fairy also sensed Neveah’s arrival, she turned to face Neveah, her dark orbs gleaming with malice.
"Die!" She shrieked, lunging at Neveah, along with a horde of shadowy vines that shot at Neveah from different points.
Neveah snarled, launching herself forwards, she skillfully spun away from the vines and toppled the dark fairy down to the ground,
Neveah gave no chances for a struggle, the dark fairy’s magic would give her the upper hand if Neveah allowed it.
Neveah’s jaws went straight for the dark fairy’s exposed throat, and a harsh clamp down ended the fairy instantly.
"You die." Neveah murmured as she shifted back into her human form, wiping the blood off her lips.
Neveah glanced up at the sky, the shadows in this part of the forest had cleared, paving the way for Menarx and Cassian to get through.
But there were still other dark fairies hiding about in the forest, singing the storm song.
The dragons would not be half as good as Neveah at tracking them down, even if they would never admit it and so Neveah set out on her own mission.

Jian’s eyes snapped open, his brows furrowed slightly as he picked up on a strange tune echoing far in the distance.
This tune, it had been a long time since he had last heard one of such, but Jian still remembered it well enough.
"Dark fairies." Jian murmured to himself as he got up to his feet.
Jian reached out to Cassian through their mind link, but it was to no avail. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
As though something intercepted their connection, Jian just could not reach Cassian.
"Damned song birds still lingering about, was there anything I actually annihilated?" Jian hissed in annoyance.
Jian was about to make the return trip back to camp but he paused in his step.
There it was, that dark aura lingered in the air, completely distinct from that of the dark fairies and Jian’s gaze narrowed slightly.
Jian crouched down, placing a palm down on the ground, his senses were tuned to his surrounding as he reached out, trailing the source of that dark energy.
It was not far out, Jian could sense it clearly and what Jian was even more aware of was that it was headed for him...it knew he was here.
Jian’s lips twitched in amusement as he got up to his feet and disappeared into the forest.
