Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 178: Look Out ()
Neveah watched Roman struggle to put in order the mess he had created, but he simply did not have the strength to lift up such large logs.
The young lad grunted in frustration before he lifted a pleading look to Neveah.
"What?" Neveah asked with a raised brow, still keeping track of Lydia.
From the sounds Neveah heard in the kitchen, Lydia had not taken notice of the trouble Roman had stirred, however it would not be long before she did notice it.
"Uhmm... can you help me lift them up? The logs are too heavy... please?" Roman asked hopefully.
Neveah rolled her eyes at the young lad, walking over to him, she lightly flicked his forehead.
"There are things you should do with your hands Ro, magic is not a toy." Neveah chided, though her lips twitched slightly.
"Hey!" Roman exclaimed, lifting a hand up to rub his forehead while his lips were pouted.
"I’m not a child you know, I’m already six summers this year." Roman relayed with a huff.
Neveah sniggered beneath her breath, passing the young lad a funny look.
"One, two, three...to six, you mean? I only need two hands to count that and there will still be many fingers left over." Neveah replied with a shake of her head.
"You don’t look that old either. Grandma says you are not even an adult yet!" Roman shot back in his defence.
Neveah raised a brow, she had said nothing of her age but it was only natural Lydia would make her own speculations.
"Then as a non-adult... I cannot help you fix your mess. My child arms are so small, how can I lift these large logs?" Neveah teased, making to head back but Roman hurried to block her way.
"Wait! Wait!... Don’t go, grandma will skin me if I don’t tidy up here." Roman pleaded anxiously.
"Even if I stay, do you actually think I can lift these logs?" Neveah pointed out the obvious.
Roman’s brows furrowed thoughtfully as he considered Neveah’s words. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
"Then what can I do?" Roman asked in dismay.
"I could try to lift a few." Neveah offered, raising a brow in surprise when Roman shook his head.
"You only just recovered, I don’t want you lying sick again. I made the mess, I will fix it. Besides... I’m the man, I can’t let you do anything to tedious." Roman dismissed, puffing his chest out as he spoke.
"Did you hear those words from your father?" Neveah asked, laughing quietly as she headed back to the logs.
Neveah stared around for a moment before lifting the closest log up with a hand, the log itself was almost as tall as Neveah’s height and wide too but for Neveah, it barely weighed anything.
Neveah passed a look to Roman who stared at her in shock, his eyes wide and his mouth wide open.
"Still think I’m a child?" Neveah asked as she picked up another log and headed over to stack them up properly.
There were about twenty logs and so it would take a few trips to place them all back the way they had been.
"You... can lift two of them?!" Roman exclaimed in awe.
"Only because I have just two hands... thinking about it, I could probably take about ten...it actually is not that heavy." Neveah replied, chuckling to herself when Roman’s eyes bulged.
"Are you... a she-dragon?!" Roman gasped in awe.
"Silly boy...do you not know there are no she-dragons?" A voice interrupted.
Neveah glanced over her shoulder to find a strange man dressed in a loose tunic and leather breeches.
He was about 5ft and 11 inches tall and had a broad build with an appearance strikingly similar to that of the young Roman.
Neveah had not heard him approach at all and that surprised her, but she already knew who he was without the need to ask.
In the same manner, the man glanced over at Neveah, his eyes lighting up.
"Why? You’re awake!" He exclaimed in surprise.
Neveah could tell this was Lydia’s son, the man who had found her by the shores and saved her.
"You must be Trevin." Neveah acknowledged, lowering her head to a small bow.
"Oh, please don’t. I’m just a commoner, you don’t need to regard me so highly." Trevin quickly stopped Neveah with a chuckle.
"Regardless of who you are, you saved me. You have my gratitude." Neveah expressed in a honest tone.
"I didn’t really do much, do speak less of it. I am relieved to see you are faring well, I was so worried that I sent for my wife." Trevin said, walking over to Neveah.
"Ah, Lydia mentioned Roman’s mother to me. She is a junior mage at the academy of magic, yes?" Neveah asked.
Trevin nodded with a smile as he also flicked his son’s forehead in the same manner Neveah had.
"Father!" Roman exclaimed in an aggrieved tone.
"How do you let a recovering woman carry such heavy logs?" Trevin reprimanded before he turned to Neveah.
"You should be resting, the weather is cold out here, after being in the water for so long, you might catch a cold." Trevin said.
"I do not catch colds that easily... besides, like I told Ro here...it would take at least ten of these at the same time before I consider it heavy." Neveah replied honestly.
Neveah lifted another two logs and carried it over to the stack, placing them down neatly.
She turned to find Trevin staring at her in shock, much the same way Roman had been a moment ago.
"You see father? She is certainly a she dragon!" Roman exclaimed victoriously.
"How many times do I have to tell you there are no she-dragons?" Trevin grumbled, passing a glare to his son.
"Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. Leave it be now, I will put them in order." Trevin still insisted, as he got down to picking up the logs.
Neveah made one more round, before she stepped over to the side and passed a glance to Roman.
"Are there truly no she-dragons?" Neveah asked curiously.
