"Alessio...you have only become Prince Royal for a little more than a year."

"This is a critical time if you hope to succeed your father’s reign. How can you chose to take it for granted?" Alpha Queen Vilma asked is deep concern.

"Father is in his youth, he will govern for many more years. Why must I bother? All he sees me as is a poor imitation of himself." Alessio murmured in a dark tone as his eyes fluttered closed.

"Alessio, how can you say that?! Your father gave you the governing rights to a third of the Eclipse Domain. And the Creator’s mark you bear proves your claim true."

"Your father will honor you as his heir so long as you do not disappoint his expectations. So long as you can earn his respect and prove your worth to him." Alpha Queen Vilma reasoned.

Alessio chuckled quietly beneath his breath, his mother seemed to be the only one still living in denial of the kind of man her mate truly was.

"Prove your worth...how did that work out for you, mother? He crowned you Queen and fathered a child elsewhere." Alessio said the words on his mind before he realized it.

Alessio immediately regretted his words when he heard his mother’s gasp and Alessio sat up on his bed.

"I should not have said that." Alessio apologized in a guilty tone.

Alessio knew how much the reality of his father’s infidelity still tormented his mother, it was why he still could not reveal who Neveah was to him knowing his mother would be shattered.

In all these years, Alessio detested his father for this one wrong his father had done to his own mate.

And to cover up his shame, Alessio’s father had ordered for word to be spread that his mate, Queen Vilma birthed a daughter,

Even when all in the Eclipse Palace and the Eclipse Fang Pack knew there was no such thing, however the rest of the Eclipse Domain were well deceived.

To Alessio’s mother, it was a torment she could never escape and she could not afford to defy her mate too, she could only swallow down her bitterness.

"You do not know anything!" Alpha Queen Vilma snarled furiously at her son.

Alessio bit his lip, forcing his wolf down from protesting against the reprimand.

"If it was not for that b*tch Eira... how could Lothaire do such a stupid thing?!" Alpha Queen Vilma snarled.

Alessio said nothing in response, only watched his mother in silence as she threw a fit as she always would at the reminder of that event.

Alessio felt bad for his mother, but now, he felt even more bad for himself.

His father would much rather have Neveah be his link to the greatest royal dynasty in existence, the dragon shifters and so the Alpha King was willing to give up all other use for Neveah.

Meanwhile, his mother would much sooner kill Neveah with her own hands than watch her return,

Alessio knew this because there was a time he had also shared the very same thought.

But Alessio thought differently now...he wanted Neveah back, to return to his side where she truly belonged.

The mate bond had only become so active because no matter where Neveah was at this moment, she still had Alessio in her heart.

And the thought of that was all Alessio needed to know, but there was just one thing that troubled him.

Alessio did not have the power or what it took to stand against the dragon shifters and his father would never support him.

But the next words of Alpha Queen Vilma provided Alessio with the answers he sought all this while.

"And you! Get your act straight! Your father has decreed the beginning of his tour through the domain."

"In his absence, the Eclipse Palace and affairs of the domain are in your hands. You must make up for all the disappointment you have caused in the past month!"

"You must be the perfect son your father wants you to be and gain his respect!" Alpha Queen Vilma asserted firmly.

Alessio raised a single brow as his mother continued with her tirade of reprimands but he could hear nothing else but the first announcement she had made.

’Father...is leaving?’ Alessio thought to himself.

"Alessio, are you even listening to me?!" Alpha Queen Vilma snapped.

Alessio glanced up at his mother and nodded absentmindedly, watching her finish the words she had to say.

"How long... when did he decide this?" Alessio asked in surprise, he had not heard any word of it and he was being left in charge of the domain.

"After the Alpha’s summit was suspended in such a manner, the Eclipse Alpha’s have displayed one discontent or another."

"To set things back on order, your father came to an abrupt decision to declare a tour round the Eclipse Domain."

"He will be leaving with his Beta and a platoon of pack warriors in a fourth night and the tour is expected to take a few months at the least."

"In this time, your father will be unable to see to the affairs of the Eclipse Domain and even with your recent disappointments, he has decided to leave this to you." Alpha Queen Vilma revealed.

"That is because I am his only son... truthfully, he has no one else." Alessio replied in a quiet murmur.

"You had better not miss the next council gathering!" Alpha Queen Vilma warned before she stormed out, leaving Alessio to his thoughts.

"Father is leaving the Eclipse Domain...for months?" Alessio murmured to himself again, still processing what he had just heard.

And suddenly, Alessio knew exactly how he could attain the power to stand up to the dragon shifters.

"A palace such as Eclipse should never be left... without a king." Alessio murmured in a low tone.
