Chapter 167: Interrupted Thoughts (Ch.167)

~The Isle Of Kezrar Dún: Headquarters of the Black Network~

Celeste walked down a long, winding hallway, her heels clicked against the marble floors and her expression was furrowed into a deep frown.

She was not usually one to let her mood reflect on her face, but this time, Celeste was greatly displeased and there was no possible way she could conceal it.

Rage burned within her veins and she could barely contain it.

Celeste quickened her pace till she arrived at a large double door made from wood, pushing it open, she stepped in, slamming the door shut with such great force that it rattled.

And then Celeste turned around slowly, her gaze immediately settling on the only other occupant of the hall.

Her hands clenched into tight fists and Celeste sucked in a deep breath to calm herself, but it was all to no avail.

There within the hall, the man in black sat, laid across a dais.

His signature black cloak was splayed out behind him and his legs were crossed over one another while his hood and mask were still intact, hiding his visage from view.

"To still be at such ease even in this situation, you certainly are one of a kind." Celeste began in a deceptively calm tone.

The man in black did not respond, remaining motionless, it seemed as though he was fast asleep but no one could sleep through the loud bang that had sounded when the door was slammed shut.

"Need I repeat myself?" Celeste asked in a dark tone, knowing she was being ignored

The man in black released a quiet grunt of displeasure, he was not surprised at Celeste’s arrival... he had expected it even.

Celeste was always one to throw a fit when things did not go her way and the man in black knew this well enough.

But even so, he still found Celeste’s rude entry and the disruption of his thoughts extremely unpleasant.

The hand of the man in black lifted up, gesturing towards the doors.

"Is it a habit of yours to take out your anger on other people’s property?" He finally spoke up, his tone casual yet there was a deadly hint spun within it.

"Azkar!" Celeste hissed in a warning tone.

’There she goes again...’ He thought to himself in exasperation.

"You are much too loud, if you get so emotional over every little matter, you will be heading for an untimely death." The man in black, Azkar pointed out.

"You know why I have come. What is the meaning of this?!" Celeste demanded.

"The ruby scaled dragon was more powerful than I expected, I failed... what more do you wish to hear?" Azkar asked in boredom.

"You failed...or you retreated with no cause?!" Celeste snapped furiously.

Azkar did not respond immediately, he did retreat...but in Azkar’s defence, it was not without cause.

"However you wish to word it. I did not execute the task as ordered, I had a change of heart. It is that simple." Azkar finally replied with a shrug.

"You had a change of heart...?" Celeste repeated slowly, her gaze narrowing slightly.

"And do you wish for me to convey those words to His Lordship?" Celeste asked in a chilling cold tone.

For a moment the hall was in silence, and then Azkar sat up, adjusting his position so he now watched Celeste with interest.

"Do I sense a threat somewhere in your words?" Azkar asked, his head tilting slightly to the side.

"Azkar...you are towing a dangerous path and you will not favor the result. You will execute your orders without fail!" Celeste warned as she strode further into the hall.

Azkar broke into quiet laughter, an amused sigh escaping him right after his laughter died out.

"I...Azkar, Lord of Kezrar Dún... I do only what pleases me. His Lordship is yet to barge into my hall and create a scene...who exactly do you think you are?" Azkar asked in a low but dark tone.

"His Lordship’s right hand." Celeste replied back firmly.

"You may become the Creator himself... and it still would never be your turn to give me orders." Azkar clarified.

Celeste eyes reflected her displeasure but she did not confront Azkar any further.

Azkar was not one Celeste wanted to offend, and for good reason.

"What exactly are you up to?" Celeste asked in a much calmer tone.

Azkar shrugged casually, leaning back.

"The ruby scaled... I will offer his head to His Lordship at my own time." Azkar replied.

"And what can you say of my aides you have killed? The ones from the light hall?" Celeste asked again.

"Oh...them? They wielded my spell... without my consent. I had thought you gave the order..." Azkar said, his tone displeased.

Azkar had been going about his business when he sensed it, someone wielding a spell he had formed himself...a spell linked to his own blood.

It would not have mattered if the target was anyone else, but when Azkar sensed just who it was...he acted before he fully comprehended it.

Azkar was yet to decide what he thought of the little girl, but she had only become even more interesting to him now.

"It matters not...they laid a hand on who they should not have, naturally... there would be consequences." Azkar murmured in a dark tone.

Celeste frowned at Azkar’s words, crossing her arms behind her back.

"Need I be worried?" Celeste asked with a raised brow.

"The affairs that are mine to handle... they will be taken care of in due time. You may assure His Lordship that everything is in Azkar’s control." Azkar assured.

Celeste said nothing more, turning around, she took her leave as swiftly as she had come, leaving Azkar to his own thoughts.

"Now... where was I?" Azkar murmured to himself as he laid back down across his dais.

The thoughts of a certain beauty with hair the shade of fine gold returned to the forefront of Azkar’s mind and he did not resist them.

"Shall I make a guess... would we meet again? Or would she heed my warning?" Azkar murmured to himself curiously.
