Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 148: Man in Black 2 ()

And so Neveah was unfazed when another of the hideous beasts emerged from the forest, it’s beady eyes reflecting it’s blood thirst.

It stood a short distance from Neveah, it’s breaths loud and heavy as it’s gaze settled on her, the thick stench it exuded clouded Neveah’s nostrils and Neveah forced down the urge to retch.

The beast stood so close but did not attack, it only stared at Neveah... awaiting an order from the one seating on a branch above.

Neveah guessed he had been watching her, perhaps trailing her all along and she had not even noticed his presence until a moment ago.

"Who are you?" Neveah asked in a dark tone, referring to the strange man seated above.

"Nobody of interest..." The man replied casually.

"What do you want from me?" Neveah asked again. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

"You are not the one I am after... the one of ruby scales... that is who I want." The man responded.

"And you hope to find him with me?" Neveah asked again.

"I hope that he... comes to find you. Until then, I must trouble you to accompany me." The man replied.

Neveah did not need to ask any further, she understood clearly why this assassin had come for her while keeping Menarx distracted,

They knew clearly that they stood no chance against Menarx himself and so Neveah was to be the bait...to lure Menarx into an ambush.

Menarx had said Neveah would be a distraction... Neveah was already displeased with that, the last thing she wanted was to be the weakness of another.

Be it out of duty or concern, Neveah knew Menarx would come after her, and he would be in danger.

But there was one little problem with this plan orchestrated by the man in black, Neveah was not some damsel in distress that needed saving.

"I am pressed for time at the moment and cannot afford to be abducted, hence I must decline your offer and be on my way." Neveah replied calmly.

An amused chuckle sounded from the man seated on the tree, as though Neveah’s words were the most hilarious thing he had ever heard.

"Do you really think you can leave here alive?" The man asked,

At that exact moment, the beast took another step forward, a fierce growl rumbling from it.

Neveah had never seen a conjured beast in her life before today, she did not even know such things existed.

Though Neveah had heard of the terrors of dark sorcery, the Eclipse Domain was far divided from the terrain of witches and other creatures of magic.

Neveah could not ascertain the strength of this beast but at the same time, she knew it did not matter.

The beast had set eyes on her, it was either it’s life or hers.

In a flash, the beast lunged at Neveah,

Neveah’s wolf rose to the surface, her eyes glowed and her claws and canines elongated, a ferocious snarl sounded from her,

The beast was airborne and it’s speed was blinding but Neveah held her ground, she spun to the side, launching a powerful kick at the beast that brought it right down to the ground.

The beast swiped at Neveah’s feet and she leaped away just in time to escape it’s sharp claws, however Neveah did not catch the movement of the beast’s tail in time,

The beast’s tail slammed into Neveah forcefully, knocking the wind out of her and the force sent her tumbling through the air and crashing into the trunk of a tree.

Pain exploded all across Neveah’s back and a groan of pain escaped her, she clearly heard the sound of her own cracking bones,

"Shit!" Neveah hissed in annoyance as the beast lunged again and Neveah rolled out of the way, narrowly escaping it’s attack.

The satchel strapped to her waist came undone in Neveah’s movement and Neveah’s eyes widened slightly.

The Ubrith flower was stored within, after searching for so long, Neveah had found just a patch of it,

The day was far gone, Neveah did not know how long it would take to find another and Lady Kaliana’s life as well as Neveah’s own life depended on the Ubrith flower.

The dragons were all counting on her, but that was not as important as the faith Xenon, Menarx and Lord Everon had placed in her.

Neveah made to lunge for the satchel but watched in horror as the beast’s hoof stomped right on the satchel, smashing it into the earth.

Neveah growled furiously, rage surging within her as well as a killing instinct that overtook her every thought,

It was okay that things were never easy for her, it was okay that she had to work thrice as hard for everything in her life compared to others,

It was okay that she had to fight all her life for her own freedom, for what should have been her right, but every day that passed, she found it was farther and farther from her reach.

All of this was okay, but what was not okay was people constantly destroying her efforts, that no one ever sought her consent before interfering with her life.

It was the same in the Eclipse Palace, it was the same in the Dragon Keep and right now, even some assassin in black dared to mess with her...

"I already said it...no one stands in my way! Not in this lifetime!" Neveah hissed as her shift took over, her human form was shed to give way for the Alpha King wolf within.

An earth shaking growl rumbled out of Neveah as she stood, towering over the beast by an entire inch.

Neither the beast nor the man in black expected Neveah’s shift and what came as a greater shock was her gigantic size.

In a flash, she lunged at the beast, tackling it down to the ground, her claws digging into it’s shoulders.

The beast growled fiercely and struggled beneath Neveah just as her claws dug down even deeper and ripped off the Beast’s head in a flash.

Blood sprayed all over Neveah, staining her midnight blue for as her gaze moved to the man in black who still stared down at her.

’Little girl? Who?...This King?’ Neveah thought, rage surging through her veins.
