Omega's Rebirth-Chapter 122: Facade ()
"Am I truly seeing it clearly? Or is it just my eyes creating non existent images?" Came a voice that broke the silence.
After a moment of silence where fifteen stunned eyes just stared at Neveah in surprise, one of Lady Adrienne’s lackeys spoke first, the thin female with a haughty look and straight black hair.
Davina had revealed to Neveah that this female was called Lady Celia, she was also an excellent student of the healer academy and a trainee in her final year of training,
She came from a long line of healers in the Dusk Castle, one of the major fortresses of the Asvarian stronghold.
Lady Celia hailed from a long line of nobility and though her family were neither fairies, dragons nor any supernatural creature, they were of pure Asvarian bloodline which meant they had dragon blood in their veins.
The human population of the Asvarian stronghold were humans indeed, but after centuries, bloodlines and lineages were interconnected, no matter how sparse or distant the connection was.
Hence even the human population were divided in two, those of Asvarian descent which were the mortals with a measure of dragon blood in their veins and then the purely mortal human population.
Of course, both distinct mortals did not have the same lifespan or life expectancy, while the human population that were purely mortal had the same short and fleeting lifespan as those of the Eclipse domain,
The human population with dragon blood aged far slower and lived far longer though they had no supernatural abilities like heightened senses, speed or strength, magic and the likes.
The Asvarian stronghold was a place where so many different species existed under the rule of the Dragon King and it truly seemed that only the wolf shifters and a few other species were far out from the reach of the dragons.
The supreme ruler of the world was what the dragon king was known to be, Neveah found it laughable hearing of it in tales but now, witnessing it for herself... she slowly began to understand why that title was fitting.
Neveah shook her head slightly, as always, her thoughts had trailed but as she brought herself right back to the point, she recalled how Davina reminded her repeatedly that she could not afford to offend any of these females.
"If you mean the fact that the new attendant just emerged from the private hall of His Eminence, the royal healer...then no, I think we all see the exact same thing." The other lackey, Lady Rosalie replied in a cross tone.
Every other member of the group remained in complete silence, including Lady Adrienne.
Neveah knew other than Lady Adrienne and her lackeys, the rest of the trainee healers were not all that concerned about her or her existence.
"Hey, you..." Lady Celia began again in a condescending tone, her nose furrowed into a sneer.
"What are you doing coming out of there? Is it okay for just anyone to frequent the healer hall?!" Lady Celia seethed.
Neveah pursed her lips, the trainee healers knew nothing of her appointment with Lord Everon for her herbal tonics.
They also did not know that not just today but Neveah visited the healer’s hall everyday for the past week, it was only that she visited long after their morning class or long before it hence they never crossed paths.
"Can you speak?! Celia just asked you a question!" Lady Rosalie was never one to be outdone so she was the first to rise to her feet and storm over to Neveah,
Blocking Neveah’s path just when Neveah contemplated taking her leave to avoid any further confrontation with these group of people that were so high in status that they could never be in the wrong.
"What are you doing here, attendant? Are you unaware that Lord Everon’s private halls are off limits in his absence? Not even us trainees can go in there." Lady Adrienne finally spoke in a much calmer tone than her peers. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
The innocent smile settled on Lady Adrienne’s face gave her a kind appearance and her polite tone made it seem like she had only spoken up to calm the situation and show her peers the right way to approach it.
Neveah did not truly understand Lady Adrienne...but she had lived a lie for long enough to tell a facade the moment she saw it.
For whatever reason Lady Adrienne played the saint, Neveah did not feel feel she owed any explanation to these trainee healers and she did not have an explanation for them either.
"I have duties to attend to, I will take my leave first." Neveah said as she made to move past Lady Rosalie to the side but Lady Rosalie still cut off her path.
Neveah’s hands curled up into tight fists as she struggled to maintain her calm while her wolf growled lowly in her mind.
"You do not get to just walk away as you please! Explain yourself or face the consequences!" Lady Rosalie warned.
Neveah scoffed beneath her breath, shaking her head slightly.
"Did you just... scoff at us?" Lady Celia demanded in a dark tone and Neveah’s gaze finally settled on them.
"Whatever makes you feel entitled to my explanation?" Neveah began in a calm tone.
Neveah heard a shocked gasp coming from one of the other trainee healers.
Meanwhile, the three noble ladies were momentarily taken aback by Neveah’s question that reminded them they were not in any position to demand answers from her.
"As trainee healers of the healer hall..." Lady Celia began to argue but Neveah cut her off.
"Exactly...you are just trainee healers, you are not even allowed into your royal healer’s study hall... naturally, anything that happens within is no concern of yours." Neveah continued in a low, dark tone
"Whatever gives you the guts to demand an explanation from me? The private hall is not even yours. Whatever questions you have...take it up with your royal healer."
"Better still, trainee healers come here to study the arts, don’t they?...So study quietly and stop being nuisances." Neveah finished with a dark glare.
"Now, if you will excuse me... I must get to Lord Xenon or you shall have to explain exactly why you have delayed his matters." Neveah warned as she shoved past Lady Rosalie.
The eyes of all fifteen trainees trailed after Neveah till she disappeared from sight, but if one got a closer look at Lady Adrienne, one would see the evil glint reflected in eyes.

It was the end of another morning of training, the trainee healers were rounding up the day’s work to have it inspected by the royal healer before they could take their leave.
The junior royal healer had introduced a new and extremely rare herb to the trainees, one that could only be harvested once in a century and was used in the littlest amounts just so it would not be exhausted.
Of all the healers in the Asvarian stronghold, this herb was only available in the hall of the royal healer and was personally harvested by him.
The herb was stored away in a secure place, and it could not be used for just anyone... only the Dragon King and his King’s guard in a life and death event.
The trainee healers were taught of this herb, it’s known uses, properties and terrain of growth.
The herb was too precious to be brought out and so only a glimpse of it had been shown to the trainees the day before, now the trainees were asked to give their thoughts on the herb.
With all they were taught of it’s properties and discovered uses so far, they were to find out new health complications in which the herb, could prove a partial or complete remedy,
As well as the best method to maximize the limited quantity available and possibly cultivate it artificially.
They were given an entire night to ponder over it and it was time to turn in their written report after the day’s class.
"Adrienne... what was that herb called again? The one healer Iden mentioned at the beginning of yesterday’s guidance?" Duncan, one of the trainee healers asked Adrienne, a shy smile set on his lips .
"Duncan... everyone knows you never forget anything you have heard even just once, if you are just looking for a reason to hear Addie’s voice, you should find a better one." Rosalie spoke up in amusement.
"I got into class late yesterday, of course I didn’t hear it ... what do you know?" Duncan grumbled in annoyance, though his face had turned red.
"Molt scales, healer Iden says it is most useful to dragons and exudes a heated aura hence it was named so." Adrienne replied to Duncan’s question with a small smile.
"You should learn to be like Adrienne...so graceful and soft spoken, you always chip in to every conversation." Duncan lectured the talkative Rosalie.
"You!..." Rosalie began to rage but was cut off.
"Many thanks, My lady." Duncan spoke over Rosalie’s voice, smiling warmly at Adrienne before he passed a glare to Rosalie.
"How dare he?!" Rosalie seethed as she stared after Duncan.
"Rosa..." Celia interrupted in a disapproving tone.
"What is that Addie would always say...even the dogs can be treated kindly, so long as they bear in mind that they will always be beneath your feet. That way, they can still be useful when the time comes." Celia reminded in a low tone.
"Duncan? He may be a genius...but he is nothing but a common born mortal...why bother?" Celia chided.
Rosalie huffed beneath her breath but nodded while Adrienne who was quiet all the while revealed a sinister smile.
