Obsessed to Hate Him-Chapter 66: Royal Summon
KIAN
People have shitty days, shitty weeks, and even shitty months. I have a shitty year. I can tell that the year is going to be my downfall. And I realized it the moment I tasted Liam.
He tasted like the sweetest sin. Warm, spicy and sweet. All mixed in one flavor. He tasted like a new spring and the first cherry blossom. His tongue moved against mine so much ferocity that it made me dizzy with a desire to ravish him.
He tasted the way I imagined. No, even better. And honestly, the kiss was better than any sex I have ever had. I am not exaggerating. I am speaking the truth. He felt so nice and warm that it was enough for me to spread his legs and find out if he tasted as good down there as well.
But I had to contain myself. I can’t lose my shit over something like this. Well, maybe I already have, but I had hold of the last string of self-control and drove him out of the rooftop that night two weeks ago.
The next morning Jennifer forced me out of the palace even though the festival was supposed to continue for three days. Apparently, Jennifer had seen Liam and me together.
She followed me out of the banquet and eavesdropped on our conversation.
Well, it is bad, because Jennifer is my aunt after all. This is what I thought when she first revealed that she saw us. But it turned out, Jennifer was more than fine with it. She didn’t mind how much we screwed around; the only thing that mattered to her was how much secrecy we maintained while doing so.
You don’t want a scandal going around about a secret affair between two enemy Kingdom’s most influential people. Not to mention that one of them is the ruler and the other is the prince. I can’t get any worse than that.
"Why did you drag me out then?" I grumble as I follow Jennifer through the bustling streets of the central market of Sylvyran.
Yes, we are still lurking here because I didn’t want to go back, and Jennifer wanted to explore. She likes the liquor that they sell here. I feel bad for Fred though—just a little—he is the one who is handling all the work in Oblivara. Poor soul. I may pay him well for his effort.
"I do not mind if you want to get under his pants," Jennifer says as if it is the most natural thing to say in the world. It is anything but that. A man wanting to get into another man’s pants, not to mention they both are sworn enemies. Wow. "As long as you don’t cut each other’s throat.
Oh, we, no, I will eventually accomplish the task as well, dear aunt. Rest assured.
I don’t spell it out loud though. I don’t want her to nag me in the middle of a market. I have my dignity left.
"This is considerable," I reply simply, lie evident.
Jennifer shoots me a look, "This is why I dragged you out. Who knows if you kill the poor soul in the middle of your sex session? I can’t take the risk. It is as nasty as it can be. Stay away from him."
"You are no fun, old hag." I pillow my head with my arms as I walk behind her with languid, lazy steps, looking up at the sky and trying to forget those green eyes. They make me equally furious, hostile, and turned on. It is a troublesome effect to have on myself.
"Who did you call, old hag again, huh?" Jennifer smacks my head, "You insolent little brat, doesn’t even know how to respect the elders."
I bristle at her slap.
I then blink. It feels like I am getting rubbed off by Liam. He used to have this kind of reaction when I messed with him.
"In any case." Jennifer’s tone abruptly edges toward a more serious and wary side, "Have you noticed something different?"
"Yes." I nod my head, "There was no envoy from the Kingdom of Nyxvarral." I say in an equally serious tone.
"Things are about to get nasty, Kian." Jennifer shoves her hand into her pockets as she continues to walk, "Nyxvarral has always been a troublesome nation. Do not lower your guard ever against them. They are Oblivara and Solaryn’s mutual enemy. They are as tricky as a sly fox."
I don’t say anything as I listen intently to Jennifer’s deduction. She is more than right. The great war was waged because of that Kingdom. And there have been many scattered problems regarding this one nation. Their movements have always been fishy forever.
We return to our guest house that the crown princess arranged for us outside the palace. Just when we step foot in the reception hall, a staff comes running to us, a nearly sealed letter tucked carefully in his hand. He hands it to me.
Jennifer and I exchange a mirrored puzzled glance before I unfold the letter.
***
Commander Eryx J.
This is an urgent summon to the royal palace by the crown princess Vivana Von Sylvyran. I hope you will be considerate enough to pay a visit or I will have to come myself.
Vivana Von Sylvyran.
***
The latter sounds more like a threat than a summon. But I highly doubt Vivana will do anything foolish enough to offend me. Other than that. I now have an appropriate reason to go to the palace again. Not gonna lie, it makes me happy.
I look at Jennifer, a smirk tugging at the corner of my lips. Jennifer looks disdainful. "Alright, you can go. As it is a royal summon." She says gruffly, "But if I hear anything suspicious. Kian, I will haul you back to Oblivara." She rebukes.
"Yes. Yes, madam." The smirk turns into a fully blown grin and I can’t hide the smugness behind it.
Oh, Liam. Just you wait.
