As Yohan carried her up the stairs on his back, her hands swayed lazily from side to side. She looked every bit asleep—but Yohan could tell she was pretending.

Her heartbeat gave her away. It was racing, far too fast for someone who was truly out cold, and pressed so close to his back, he couldn’t miss it.

’She’s probably nervous’, he thought, continuing upward without slowing.

’But if she’s awake... why am I still carrying her?’

"Y-yeah" Cassie stuttered, a bit surprised that he knew she was awake "You can put me down here,"

She stood in front of the third door, steadying her hand as she unlocked it.

"Wait here for a bit, I have to arrange a few things," she opened the door slightly and slipped in, leaving Yohan alone in the hallway.

Yohan didn’t expect her to invite him in so he was initially planning on leaving once she was inside.

’But it wouldn’t hurt to wait around...’

On the other side of the door, Cassie rested her back against it, her face was slightly red as she glanced around the slightly messy room.

There were books and clothes scattered all over the place.

"Since when was the last time I did a proper clean up?" she asked, her face red from embarrassment.

It was her friend’s house and she was only staying there because of the back to back test they were having this period of the semester. That was why the place was littered with books and clothes.

She quickly began moving the things around and arranging the single room apartment.

After she finished, it looked way better than before.

That was when she finally let Yohan in, her face still red as she did.

’Why am I feeling so nervous?’ Cassie wondered. She thought that maybe it was because she was having a boy over, even if it was just her cousin.

But that would make no sense if she really saw Yohan as just cousins.

As for Yohan he didn’t even notice all the things she was worried about, for him it didn’t look much different from his own room other than the few books scattered around.

"Wow Cassie, you must really read a lot," he said casually carrying a book from the side of the bed.

"Yeah, I’m studying literature so it’s kind of compulsory for me. Plus these days it’s been one test after the other, that’s why I take every chance I have to escape,"

Yohan could finally understand why she was drinking so much, he also suspected that it was the same reason she had been hanging out with Freddie. Maybe as another form of escape

"It’s so bad that I can hardly even sleep at night anymore," she sighed, taking out two cans of bear and placing it on the center table, while they they both sat on the floor beside it.

"Are you serious? that’s really not good for your health," Yohan replied, trying to ignore the fact that the girl was actually planning on drinking even more.

"I know, but it’s not like I can help it, especially with the current situation in the family. Without dad, me and my mom can only rely on each other. I have to work hard now if I want to get a good job,"

’So that’s why she’s pushing herself so hard,’ Yohan thought to himself. He could tell that Cassie really meant what she was saying, and the fact that she was speaking to him so freely made him feel a little warm inside.

It didn’t matter if it was only because she had no one else to talk to, Yohan smiled softly.

"Well you can also rely on me,"

His words stunned her for a moment. She never realized just how competent her cousin was until now. He was really an ideal man. He was kind, strong, with money and good looks. He was like one of those mysterious hot guys in the books she read.
