North American Detective: I am Proficient in All Kinds of Gun Quick Draws-Chapter 577 - 327_2
But even the tightest security couldn't compare to a military base. Dean had managed to breach a military base alone, let alone now that Little Mike had taken control of all communications and had identified all the monitored personnel in advance.
These people had no idea what was coming. The very surveillance that was meant for safety now posed a life-threatening risk. Communications, unbeknownst to them, had been blocked, which resulted in the mighty Yamaguchi Family's fall without them receiving any news. They continued to enjoy their dinner party leisurely, drinking sake and admiring the swaying figures of the dancing girls.
These few minor Japanese families had many members—men, women, elderly, and children. Although most resided on the estate, they were relatively dispersed, making them more difficult to handle than the Yamaguchi Family.
But Dean's objective was clear. This time, he intended to take the opportunity to exterminate the members of the Yamaguchi Family who bore the greatest animosity towards him!
Under his leadership, the group surged forward with clear targets, advancing unstoppably. Anyone who dared to block their path immediately fell into a pool of blood. The security experts among them didn't even have a chance to retaliate before Dean sniped them down one by one.
With such terrifying efficiency, they soon tore an opening in the security perimeter and reached the interior of the Yamaguchi Family's estate.
By the time those at the dinner party thought of escaping, it was already too late.
"Kill them all!"
"Leave no one behind!"
With a wave from Dean, his gunmen charged in. Without the slightest hesitation, they pulled their triggers on men, women, the elderly, or children alike, unleashing a saturation attack.
"Dean!" Lawrence's eyes widened as he watched the scene unfold.
The Yamaguchi Family members he had killed earlier were all bastards who lived on the edge; killing them hadn't caused him any psychological burden.
But now...
Dean then swung his gun, firing three shots in quick succession, blowing the heads off three bodyguards that charged into the courtyard. His expression remained blank as he said, "Lawrence, do you remember what we found at the Yamaguchi Family's place?"
Lawrence's mouth moved as if to speak, but he sighed and stepped out of the courtyard.
When they had reached the Yamaguchi Family's place, they found photographs of Harry, Harry's mother, Harry's daughter, and him, pinned on a large foam blackboard. The intent was obvious.
If they hadn't struck first, Lawrence didn't dare to imagine the consequences of being suddenly assassinated by a group of assailants.
However, he ultimately wasn't as ruthless as Dean. He could only turn a blind eye, tacitly accepting the situation.
Dean glanced at Lawrence's retreating back and then refocused on the crowd, his gaze cold, devoid of any spark of humanity.
He felt as if he had returned to the training island from his past life, a place where he'd buried countless comrades. For survival, he had done too many horrifying things. Wiping out a mere family was nothing. Now that Dean had torn through that fragile, soft layer within himself, the mountains of corpses and rivers of blood before him couldn't stir his emotions in the slightest. If you don't cut the grass and remove the roots, it will grow again when the spring breeze blows. Blame them for being born into this family! And blame those little bastards for provoking me!
A crowd of unprepared people, mere flesh and blood, were helpless against the torrent of bullets; their desperate wails served no purpose.
In less than a minute, the entire banquet hall had become a scene from purgatory.
Dean glanced at his watch, his voice ice-cold, "From left to right, one by one, finish them off. All headshots!"
Such cruelty and bloodshed made even these well-trained gunmen feel a chill creep into their hearts.
They carried out the orders without a word.
Dean moved forward, verifying the identities of each of the dead.
Only after confirming that all core members of the Yamaguchi Family lay dead did he set the place ablaze. Then, leading his men, who reeked of blood, he headed straight for the coast outside Los Angeles.
By the time the police responded to distress calls from these Japanese and arrived at the scene, they found nothing but a field of corpses and a group of terrified, wailing Japanese survivors. They gained no useful information.
At sea, someone was waiting to pick them up.
Dean and Lawrence watched the gunmen board the boat and disappear from view. Only then did they get into a pre-arranged pickup truck, carrying the 'game' they had prepared in the back, and head towards the city.
In the truck, Lawrence hesitated, wanting to speak but holding back.
Dean took the pipe Niel had given him from his pocket, lit it, and took a few puffs. The icy coldness emanating from him slowly dissipated.
He reverted to the affable and talkative Detective Dean he usually was with colleagues. "Lawrence, buddy, what's wrong? You're not usually this hesitant."
Hearing Dean's familiar teasing, Lawrence also lit a cigarette. After taking several deep drags, he said in a low voice, "I thought you were going to silence those gunmen too. I even had the safety off on my gun."
Dean rolled his eyes. "Don't be silly, Lawrence. You know me; I'd never harm my own people. But don't ask me where I found those gunmen. That's my secret!"
Although Lawrence worried that the gunmen's departure posed a risk of leaks, Dean's words finally eased his tense and heavy heart.
Yeah, that's right. Although Dean had seemed more terrifying than a serial killer just moments ago, it was because those people had threatened his life, Harry's life, and the lives of their families. He cared so deeply for us, his brothers, that he reacted so strongly.
Thinking this, Lawrence actually started to feel guilty about his earlier reaction.
Fuck! I'm such a piece of shit! When Dean heard his brother was being bullied, he didn't say a word, braved the risks, and took me to eliminate the threat. And how did I react?!
He slapped himself hard on the face.
"Dean, I'm sorry. I actually thought you were being a bit too cruel just now," Lawrence said, his face full of guilt, his jowls drooping.
Dean shrugged, "Don't be like that, Lawrence, we are brothers!"
"Yeah!" Lawrence nodded vigorously, "We will be brothers for life!"
