Chapter 40: Chapter 40: Ethan Evans Causes Trouble

In the business world, viciousness and scheming are commonplace, but having blood on one’s hands is... rare.

When Harvey Cooper mentioned it, it didn’t surprise Oliver Taylor. He made a perfunctory remark, "It’s all unclear; the victor is the king and the loser is the bandit. Who among us in this circle has a clean conscience?"

"True that." Harvey Cooper nodded in agreement.

Over there, at the end of the game, Arnold Simmons threw his few last cards onto the table with a cold tone, "Boring, you guys carry on." 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

Nobody dared to argue and quickly gathered up their cards.

Hannah had been searching for Louis Snyder on the first floor for a few minutes without success. Just as she found a seat and settled down, she ran into two old acquaintances.

Ethan Evans and his sidekick Alfred Shaw.

Ethan Evans hadn’t expected to run into Hannah at the bar, initially only recognizing her from afar as a familiar figure. It wasn’t until he approached that he realized who she really was.

Earlier today at school, Hannah had instantly recognized Ethan Evan’s intentions, especially his wandering gaze, as if he were afraid others wouldn’t recognize him as a lustful man.

Hannah didn’t plan to engage, she ordered a sweet wine and turned her back on the two.

However, Ethan Evans was persistent. He got up and sat down in front of Hannah. Eyeing the drink in her hand, he chuckled, "Hannah, I told you we’re destined. Here we are bumping into each other at night after missing out today. Isn’t that fate?"

Hannah smirked, "Don’t insult fate. It doesn’t have time to meddle with people like you."

The rejection and annoyance in her words were evident. Any sensible man would have turned and left.

But Ethan Evans didn’t care. He pulled his chair closer, deliberately leaning close to Hannah, lowering his voice. His eyes settled on the delicate white lobe of her ear, swallowing hard, "In Hannah’s perspective, what kind of person am I then?"

"What kind of person?" Hannah stroked the edge of her glass with her slender, fair finger, softly laughing, "What else could you be, but a rotten man?"

At these words, Ethan Evans’s face darkened, and Alfred Shaw, his sidekick who wanted to berate Hannah for being foolish, was restrained by him.

The man’s anger seemed to quickly subside, replaced instead by a smile, "Oh, I didn’t suspect that Hannah’s impression of me was this high?"

When a man becomes shameless, it’s indeed hard to deal with.

Hannah finished off the last bit of sweet wine in her glass, and looked Ethan Evans up and down. Her eyes seemed a little flirtatious and mysterious, as though a feather was brushing against Ethan Evans’s heart.

Perhaps it was due to the sweet wine she had drunk, but the girl emitted a sweet and tempting aura all over. Ethan Evans watched her longingly, wishing he could just throw her on the bed right away.

The next moment, a light laughter shattered Ethan Evans’s fantasy.

Hannah propped her head up, her gaze falling on the man’s chest. In the next second, her slender fingers tugged harshly at the man’s collar, forcing him to lower his head and hover in front of her.

"You must be very proud of yourself. With an utterly average face, you’ve seduced so many girls, driven them crazy for you, do foolish things, and let them grovel at your feet. So you can self-indulgently watch them hurt themselves over and over again for your sake, You must feel so elated, right?"

"But those girls are so naive, they think they lost you because they weren’t good enough. Girls, they should be cherished dearly, not defiled by you."
