No Substitutes for the Bigshots' Dream Girl Anymore!-Chapter 38: Winning Sympathy
The young man was talking to himself, and in the midst of his actions, the jacket he had already put on had somehow come undone, revealing the bruise that had darkened to a blue-green on his shoulder.
Hannah furrowed her brows, then stretched out her hand to rip open Louis Snyder’s clothes directly, revealing the horrifying and grotesque scar beneath. The red swelling and already developed bruise had almost covered his entire shoulder. "How did this happen?"
She looked into the youth’s eyes, her voice quivering slightly.
The young man just laughed, a bitter smile. "Just bumped into a prop on set, that’s all."
"What kind of prop would cause this?" Hannah didn’t play dumb this time, once the drama began, it had to continue. "Tell me, did someone bully you?"
The young man remained silent, only lowering his eyes, his densely curved eyelashes trembling.
Hannah’s eyes started to redden in urgency, a faint blush of pink tinting the skin around her eyes. She rose hurriedly, grabbing the young man’s uninjured arm. "Who bullied you? Let me confront him. It’s completely unacceptable to treat someone this way!"
The girl’s voice was choked with sobs, her eyes glistening with tears, but her movements were stubbornly persistent.
Louis Snyder remained still, waiting until Hannah was almost out of breath from crying, before pulling her into his embrace. He rested his head weakly in the crook of her shoulder, his voice filled with utter exhaustion, he softly spoke. "Hannah, can you stop it?"
He sighed, "...These are trials I should undergo."
Hannah responded heatedly, "What do you mean ’should undergo’? These serious injuries could disable your arm."
"It’s okay. I don’t have resources or a powerful backer. I don’t have professional knowledge, not even a diploma, this is already quite good." He nuzzled Hannah’s neck, the warm breath from his sigh lightly brushing the girl’s ear and watching her fair earlobes blush with amusement before drawing the girl closer into his arms.
"Hannah, let me hold you, just for a bit, okay?"
The girl remained silent, thus silently accepting the youth’s behaviour.
He tightened his arm around her, hugging the person in his arms closely.
It’s the first time, the first time he held her.
The girl seemed to be even smaller than what he had imagined. He could easily envelop her in his arms. She didn’t reek of any cheap perfume that usually disgusted him.
It was a familiar faint floral fragrance, blended with a hint of kitchen cooking. Despite so, it still smelt pleasant.
The tall young man clung tightly onto the girl in his arms. For that moment, it felt like embracing his whole world.
The moonlight outside the window was spilled on the ground, it was only a step away from the pair.
Hannah’s hands were hanging by her side throughout, the tears on her face yet to dry. Her eyes were no longer filled with sorrow and grief as before, only tranquillity was left.
The naive and passionate teenage boy’s embrace must have immersed the original host in a dreamy haze.
She once thought that this youth’d embrace would be her future home. Even though she had feelings for someone else, she told herself that she could forget, and she could devote herself entirely to taking care of this young man.
She was willing to give him her all.
But what was the result?
Ruthless manipulation.
The person to whom she devoted her heart, the young wolf that she wished to nurture with her own flesh and blood, eventually turned on her, savagely ripping her open, and that was not enough. He also crushed her heart and cast it into the abyss.
Then, with a smile, she was told, "Hannah, it was only a game between us, surely you didn’t take it seriously, did you?"
