No Substitutes for the Bigshots' Dream Girl Anymore!-Chapter 1940: Hayes Edwards Extra (97)
"Even I can take care of you when you’re mooching meals, what’s a few goldfish to me?"
He curved his lips smiling, his face very close.
Grace Winter felt a bit embarrassed, her face red, "I’ll learn how to cook in the future."
Hayes Edwards laughed at her, "You, learn to cook?"
"Yeah?" Grace looked up at him, even when angry she was gentle, "Can’t I?"
Hayes Edwards: "Forget it, I don’t rely on you for meals anyway, better not learn."
Grace hugged her arms and fell silent, her cheeks puffed slightly.
Hayes put down the fish tank and reached out to lightly poke her cheek, warm with a soft warmth, "Angry?"
"No." She turned her head away, not looking at him.
Hayes smiled, "Don’t be mad, I’ll treat you to ice cream."
Grace was tempted, "Now?"
"Yeah, now." Hayes said.
A little later, there were two more people on the seats of the neighborhood basketball court, Grace eating ice cream, her lips reddened from the cold but she was still very happy.
Hayes sat beside her, leaning back, watching her eat, "Is it that good?"
Grace was too busy to answer, she nodded, mumbling it was delicious.
Hayes slightly tilted his lips up, his gaze falling on her slightly puffed cheeks, deliberately talking to her at that moment, "Eating ice cream in winter, isn’t it cold?"
Grace said nothing, just shook her head, indicating it wasn’t cold.
Her smiling eyes curved like the sun that was hidden by clouds today.
Just like when she was a child.
She truly hadn’t changed at all, even after going through so much.
A light rain fell from the sky, Hayes reached out to put her coat’s hood on, gently pressing it down, then took her hand and headed home together.
"Your hands are frozen stiff, yet you say it’s not cold?"
She awkwardly smiled, her cheeks flushed red, her lips red too, her gaze bright and soft.
Hayes shifted his gaze away, tightening his grip on her wrist.
On Chinese New Year’s Eve, Mother Edwards woke Hayes up early, and Hayes went next door to wake Grace Winter.
Grace was already awake early, sitting in the living room with those goldfish, wide-eyed.
The goldfish were blowing bubbles, and she couldn’t help but cover her mouth and laugh, her eyes curved, softening people’s hearts.
In the past, Grace would hug that fish tank, saying she wanted them to meet Hayes’ goldfish.
Hayes: "..."
The three goldfish were being kept by Hayes on the bedroom windowsill, leisurely swimming and blowing bubbles.
Grace placed her goldfish beside them, then greeted them, "Long time no see."
Hayes was amused, covering his mouth before Grace noticed, "Let’s go to the living room."
The Edwards family always made dumplings together for the New Year, with Father Edwards rolling the dough and mixing the filling himself, and when everything was ready, the family would sit and wrap dumplings together.
Grace was not very good at wrapping dumplings, the few she tried didn’t look quite right. Mother Edwards smiled and let Hayes teach her. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
After Hayes showed her a few times, Grace reluctantly managed to make one that looked decent.
Mother Edwards said, "It’s okay if you can’t, as long as Hayes can, he can wrap them for you in the future."
Hayes was drinking water and almost choked on his mother’s words.
Grace hadn’t caught on yet and rubbed her face with the back of her hand, "Wouldn’t that be not so good?"
She had already mooched quite a few meals Hayes cooked.
Mother Edwards laughed, "There’s nothing wrong with it, we’re all family."
Hayes was choked.
