No Substitutes for the Bigshots' Dream Girl Anymore!-Chapter 1927: Hayes Edwards Extra (84)
Hayes Edwards handed her a bowl and urged her, "Hurry up and eat, I’ll take you back afterward."
Grace Winter greeted everyone, then turned her head to softly negotiate with Hayes Edwards, "Can I wander around a bit more later?"
She had barely come in for a few minutes when Hayes Edwards bumped into her.
Hayes Edwards sneered at her and retorted, "What do you think?"
Grace Winter obediently picked up the chopsticks and started eating.
Originally, it was agreed that the dinner party would go past midnight, but because Grace Winter was still there, he said goodbye to everyone and left just after eight o’clock.
Walking far away, he could still vaguely hear the soft voice of the girl, "Really can’t wander a bit more, there’s a holiday tomorrow..."
"No way, no room for discussion. Either you go home, or I’ll have your mom and dad come to pick you up."
"Alright then."
A few boys exchanged glances, seeing the shock in each other’s eyes. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
Were they seeing things? Or hearing things?
When the holiday was over and they came back, someone ran over to ask Hayes Edwards about Grace Winter, it was the first time they saw Hayes being so "kind and pleasant" with a girl.
Hayes Edwards had no intention to explain much, only saying that she was his neighbor across the door.
Hearing this, the boy said meaningfully, "Neighbor?"
Hayes Edwards was too lazy to explain further.
In the next semester, the entire first high school could feel the pressing sense of the college entrance exams approaching.
But compared to the college entrance exams which were a year away for him, Hayes Edwards first thought of the high school entrance exams.
Grace Winter was going to graduate from Dawn Light Middle School this year, and with her current grades, she had no problem being recommended to First High School.
The only issue was which of the two best key high schools she would choose.
"Hayes, which one do you think I should choose?"
They bumped into each other on the road.
It was a Saturday, Grace Winter had just returned from visiting Helena, and Hayes Edwards had just returned from a self-study session.
Upon hearing this question, the words "go to First High" turned into, "You’re asking me, how would I know, it’s not my high school entrance exam."
As soon as he said it, Hayes himself paused.
Sure enough, his sharp-tongued nature hadn’t changed over the years.
Fortunately, Grace Winter was used to it and didn’t seem upset or angry, "Alright, I’ll think about it myself then."
Hayes Edwards: "..."
In the end, Grace Winter chose to go to First High School.
When Hayes Edwards found out about it, he inexplicably felt relieved.
Thinking about being in the same school with Grace again, he seemed not to have the resistance and annoyance he had before, but rather a bit of... anticipation?
In May, there was only one month left before the college entrance exams.
The high school entrance exams, which were after the college entrance exams, didn’t get as much attention.
But Hayes Edwards would flip through the calendar to count the days, and even dreamed of the scene two years ago when Grace Winter came to see him off for his exams. He always kept the ugly hand-woven bracelet under his pillow.
Once, Mother Edwards accidentally threw it into the trash, and he spent a whole day rummaging through the trash bin downstairs.
Worried that Grace Winter might see him, he even embarrassingly hid among the bushes as she passed by.
He thought that this time he should reciprocate and give Grace Winter a gift too.
But deciding what to give became a big headache.
Thinking and thinking, Hayes Edwards forgot all about it.
He forgot until after Grace Winter’s high school entrance exams were over.
When Grace Winter took her high school entrance exams, Hayes Edwards couldn’t see her off because he still had classes.
