Chapter 1774: Chapter 1774: Daily Life After Marriage (2)

They believed that it was actually Hannah, who appeared to be at a disadvantage, who truly held the upper hand.

Arnold Simmons could hear the sound of Hannah idly pressing the piano keys on the other end—just a few notes, no rhythm at all.

He couldn’t help but laugh softly and said in a low voice, "I’ll come back now to keep you company."

The remaining work could just as easily be done at home.

But surprisingly, Hannah rejected him, "No need, focus on your work. I’m going out to have some fun."

"Where to?"

"Big Round said it wants to visit Little Belle next door."

Little Belle was a Samoyed owned by a new neighbor who had recently moved in nearby.

Big Round, being the Husky that he was, had fallen for Little Belle, the sweet angel, at first sight. Ever since then, he would pester someone to take him for a walk at the same time every day.

Just as Arnold was about to say something more, Hannah bid him goodbye over the call.

"Big Round is acting up. I won’t talk to you anymore, bye-bye."

Arnold stared at the phone, which had been hung up, paused for a moment, and then shook his head with a helpless laugh. He then spoke out, "Come in."

The tightly shut office door opened, and his assistant came in again carrying some files.

Arnold had already made preparations to hand over his position during this return.

What he truly wanted was to spend all his time with Hannah.

It was him who couldn’t bear to part from her.

Every single second, he was thinking about her.

...

The weather in April—it’s hard to say how it suddenly changes. The morning was bright and sunny, but now a patch of dark clouds had drifted over, and a chilly breeze was blowing.

Hannah had only taken a few steps out the door when she turned back.

Big Round thought she had changed her mind. Planting all four paws firmly on the ground, he used all his strength to resist being pulled back.

Hannah could only explain to him, "I’m just going back to grab a jacket."

The wind had picked up, and it was getting a bit cold.

Big Round seemed to understand. He wagged his tail and followed her back inside with little plodding steps.

Hannah went upstairs to grab a jacket and, while she was at it, fetched a small scarf for Big Round. She wrapped it around his neck.

Big Round shook his head, not quite used to it.

Hannah patted his furry head. "Wearing this makes you look dashing! Little Belle will definitely fall for you when she sees it!"

Big Round obediently accepted this, walking with an extra pep in his step.

Hannah brought Big Round to his usual spot by the lake. There were white swans on the lake, gracefully gliding through the water, casually looking past Big Round, who was staring at them dumbfounded from the shore.

Feeling dejected, Big Round slumped over and trudged back to her. Hannah comforted him with a pat on the head, "Maybe Little Belle is busy and couldn’t come out today."

With the weather turning cold, even the swans had lost interest in swimming across the lake.

Big Round wagged his tail, lifted his head, and let out a mournful "awooo."

Maybe he was about to experience heartbreak.

"We’ll come back tomorrow," Hannah said.

Big Round rested his head on her lap, his round eyes gazing longingly in the direction of Little Belle’s house.

Though it was still only midday, the sky had begun to darken as if rain was imminent.

Hannah was just about to get up and leave when the phone in her pocket started ringing.

The caller ID showed an unfamiliar number, no name saved.

After a moment’s hesitation, Hannah still decided to answer. "Hello?"

On the other end came the voice of a rather young boy, polite and earnest. "Hello, is this Miss Hannah Winter?"

Hearing such formal words spoken in that childish voice was a bit odd...

Hannah didn’t overthink it. "Yes, speaking. What’s the matter?"

The boy on the other end seemed to let out a sigh of relief. Clearing his throat, he said very seriously, "Please come immediately to 96 Fir Street to pick up your lost son."

Hannah: "???"

What did he say?
