No Substitutes for the Bigshots' Dream Girl Anymore!-Chapter 1766: Arnold Simmons Extra (132)
The weekend cartoon time was long, one episode after another.
Arnold Simmons couldn’t help it, reaching out to pull the young girl into his arms, then lowered his head to give her cheek a few firm kisses.
It was fierce, but his tone was soft, coaxing her, "Not angry anymore, okay?"
The look in his eyes was like a dog that had done something wrong, ears drooping.
Hannah turned her head, pressing her lips to suppress the smile, "I’m not angry."
Arnold buried his head in the crook of her shoulder, whispering, "Hannah, I like you a lot, you know?"
Perhaps love would be a more fitting word.
The faint warm breath on her neck made Hannah’s body feel a little tingly.
After a while, she couldn’t help but reach out to touch the back of his head, "I know."
Arnold, being soothed, immediately lifted his head, meeting those bright and clear eyes, he couldn’t help but hold her a little tighter, "You’re still too young."
Hannah’s eyes widened slightly, looking puzzled.
She didn’t quite understand.
Arnold chuckled, helping her straighten the collar that got tousled, "Wait a little longer, I want to give you a bit more time."
More time to think, more time to decide.
Even though I know I will always love you and protect you, I hope you can have more time to think it over.
At that moment, Hannah suddenly understood Arnold’s thoughts.
"Are you scared?" She reached out to grab his hand, then put her own hand into his palm.
The warmth transferred over.
Arnold felt his heart was being ironed warm.
"Not scared." He reached out, pinching her cheek, "Time for bed, it’s very late."
The cartoons had all finished playing.
At night, Hannah slept in the bedroom, while Arnold slept on the sofa in the living room.
The old bungalow wasn’t as spacious as an apartment, with the living room facing the bedroom, door left open.
The moonlight seeped in faintly from outside the window, Hannah turned over, seeing Arnold lying on the sofa.
He seemed to be asleep, eyes closed, breathing steadily. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Hannah watched for a while then turned back, and a few seconds later couldn’t help but sneak another peek, finally sitting up wrapped in her blanket.
She was hesitating whether to get out of bed when she heard him ask, "Can’t sleep?"
Hannah was startled, and when she looked over again, there was Arnold turning to face her.
His eyes were as deep as the night outside, yet in this dim light she saw them particularly clearly, like moonlight had fallen on him.
Very gentle.
She nodded, her voice soft, "I want some water."
Any slightest sound at night would be amplified, just like she could clearly hear Arnold’s footsteps, from the living room to the kitchen, then back in front of her.
The room that didn’t feel cramped before suddenly felt crowded at this moment, the shadow he cast almost completely enveloping her.
The water was still warm, very warm to hold.
Hannah took a couple of sips, just thinking where to place it when Arnold’s hand already reached out, "Ready to sleep now?"
She looked up at him, wrapping the blanket tighter around herself, her slightly tousled head shaking a bit, voice muffled, "Can’t sleep."
Arnold didn’t speak, just placed the cup down, then sat beside her.
The small bedside lamp was turned on.
The light wasn’t bright, it had a warm, yellowish tint.
