No Substitutes for the Bigshots' Dream Girl Anymore!-Chapter 1742: Arnold Simmons Side Story (108)
The class monitor scratched his head, looking a bit embarrassed. "Playing badminton isn’t really my strong suit."
"Okay, get off the court then. If you’re free, buy us some water—with ice, alright!"
"Got it." The class monitor nodded.
From the other side, Joe Taylor chimed in, "Class monitor, I want a Coke!"
"Noted." The class monitor picked up his glasses from the side and put them on, while also jotting down who wanted what drinks.
Hannah sat under the shade of a nearby tree, holding Tessa Thompson’s sun umbrella with one hand and a small electric fan in the other.
Seeing that so many people wanted drinks, she proactively offered to help.
The class monitor didn’t hesitate. "Thanks, Hannah. Let’s head out together then."
Hannah stood up, just about to fold up the umbrella and put it aside, when Arnold Simmons stood up too.
The class monitor reacted swiftly. "Arnold, you can come along as well."
Recently, Hannah and Arnold had been spending more time together, inevitably stirring up some gossip. But with final exams around the corner, no one had the time to pry into their relationship.
The three of them headed to the school store together.
The class monitor held a small notebook in his hand. Some classmates had asked for iced water, while others wanted Coke or milk tea.
Iced water and Coke could easily be purchased from the convenience store, but milk tea required queuing up at the adjacent shop.
The school campus was well-equipped, with places like a convenience store, a milk tea shop, and even snack stalls. The cafeteria spanned three floors, each offering a different selection of food.
For high school seniors with tight schedules, eating on campus was undoubtedly very convenient.
While waiting for the milk tea to be prepared, Hannah and Arnold sat on a bench nearby.
A few other students from different classes were there too, buying snacks and drinks for their classmates.
Off in the distance, seniors were playing basketball on the school court, laughing and joking with one another—trying to hold onto their final days at school, freely embracing the fleeting moments of youth with their sweat and energy.
"Arnold, have you thought about which university you want to apply to?"
Hannah withdrew her gaze from the basketball court and looked at the boy across from her.
The teenage years, once they begin to be reminisced upon, are always labeled as youth.
And right now, during this fleeting season of youth, the person she liked was sitting right in front of her.
She was becoming a part of his present, intertwined with his story.
The boy, not yet tempered with the steadiness of adulthood, brimmed with the uninhibited exuberance and defiance of youth. His smile—radiant and dazzling—was impossible to ignore.
"I haven’t decided yet," Arnold replied, though his eyes remained fixed on Hannah’s face, his gaze openly revealing his thoughts, unconcerned about others noticing his intentions.
Hannah met his candid gaze for a moment before looking away, turning her attention to the sunlight behind him. Lightly intertwining her fingers, she softly suggested, "What do you think of A University?"
A University was the school Hannah had been pre-admitted to. Located in the Capital City, it was one of the top universities in the nation and a dream school for many students at their high school.
With Arnold’s current grades, getting into A University was practically guaranteed.
Arnold looked at her and smiled. "Do you want me to go to A University?"
Hannah thought for a moment and said, "If I want you to, will you go?"
Before meeting Hannah, Arnold hadn’t given much thought to which university he’d attend—or maybe it didn’t really matter as long as he could leave the Simmons Family and escape the control of his so-called father.
He never believed in punishing himself for another person’s mistakes. Still, on quiet nights, staring out at the sea of lights scattered across the city, he would occasionally feel a hollow indifference toward it all.
