No Substitutes for the Bigshots' Dream Girl Anymore!-Chapter 1739: Arnold Simmons Side Story (105)
It looked like a torn corner of a draft paper, on which was written a line of delicate handwriting.
——If you don’t understand the problems, you should listen to the teacher explain them.
Arnold Simmons curved his lips into a smile at the sight of the young girl’s gently swaying ponytail and let out a soft chuckle.
For the latter half of the class, he truly focused on listening to the teacher explain the problems.
At noon after school, Hannah didn’t rush home but sent a message to meet Arnold Simmons at a sweet shop nearby.
Lately, the study load had been heavy, and for a rare bit of lunchtime rest like this, everyone hurried home to eat and sleep, leaving the nearby sweet shop much quieter.
Hannah arrived first and ordered two ice creams.
Two minutes later, Arnold Simmons came in through the front entrance.
His backpack had never left his side recently. Even Francis Evans and the others were inspired by his dedication to studying, saying they wouldn’t disturb him during this time so he could study well.
They had even stopped going to the internet café on Willow Lane.
As soon as Arnold Simmons entered, he saw the young girl sitting by the window waving at him; she had a small spoon in her mouth, looking adorably naive and a bit dazed.
He walked over and sat down, noticing the other untouched ice cream, "For me?"
Hannah nodded, "I ordered it for you, milk-flavored."
This year, the weather in Haicheng warmed up rather quickly; though it was only April, it was already sunny and hot, sometimes leading to sweating profusely during daytime drills.
But the air conditioning was on in the sweet shop, so the ice cream hadn’t melted.
Arnold Simmons wasn’t very fond of sweets, but he still took a bite.
There was a rich flavor of milk, not too sweet.
"Does it taste good?" Hannah’s eyes sparkled as she held the small spoon in her hand.
Arnold Simmons understood her intentions in a second and asked with a smile, "Want to try some?"
Hannah instinctively nodded but then quickly shook her head, "No need, it’s ordered for you, my treat."
She had only eaten half of her chocolate-flavored ice cream.
"Can I finish it?" He looked at her, gentle hues tinging his dark pupils, his words lazy and tinged with a smile.
Hannah scooped a big spoonful from her chocolate ice cream, "Mhm, go ahead and eat."
She wasn’t the least bit reluctant.
Arnold Simmons smiled and stopped teasing her, quickly finishing off the ice cream in front of himself.
Hannah continued to eat slowly, but of course, she did not forget about the main topic, "From now on, shall we do homework together?"
"What made you think of that?" Arnold Simmons watched her eat, his phone turned off and placed to the side.
A small wind chime hung on the door of the sweet shop, with a smiley doll hanging beneath it. As someone opened the door, the chime made a pleasant tinkling noise.
Hannah glanced over and then returned her gaze, answering Arnold Simmons’s previous question, "Doing homework together means we can make progress together."
When she smiled, her eyes seemed to fill with countless twinkling stars.
Could he possibly reject her?
Of course not.
And so, from that Monday on, Hannah and Arnold Simmons would sit together and do homework after school at noon every day.
Sometimes they’d be at a sweet shop near the school, at other times, in a nearby park.
Though it was about making progress together, it was mostly Hannah leading Arnold Simmons in their studies.
As a "little teacher," Hannah was undoubtedly qualified; she was never impatient, never angry.
"Do you understand?"
The two sat side by side, with Hannah propping her head on one hand and holding a black pen in the other, solving equations on the draft paper, pausing at each step to make sure Arnold Simmons understood.
They sat very close to each other.
