No Substitutes for the Bigshots' Dream Girl Anymore!-Chapter 1722: Arnold Simmons Side Story (88)
Clapping and turning her head, Hannah reached out to tug on Arnold’s sleeve to join in.
Only then did Arnold shift his gaze from the little girl’s fluffy head of hair and clapped along twice.
Hannah held her candied haw on a stick, biting into one, and savored it with exceptional joy.
Seeing her like this made Arnold unable to help feeling good himself, "Is it really that delicious?"
Hannah nodded her head, too busy eating to answer, with the sugar melted and sticking at the corner of her mouth, her eyes filled with smiles, warmer than the winter sun. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
He curved his lips into a smile, taking a tissue to wipe her mouth.
The whole process was incredibly natural for Hannah, whereas Arnold couldn’t help but have his ears turn red, forcing himself to look calm, "There."
He clenched the tissue in his palm.
Hannah continued to watch the performance.
In the square, as soon as the dragon and lion dance troupe left, a group of aunties doing square dancing took over, with rhythmical music playing from the speakers, causing several bystanders to join them.
When Arnold looked down, he met the little girl’s bright, eager eyes.
Realizing something, he quickly pulled her away before Hannah could speak, "Let’s go, time to eat."
Even though it was Chinese New Year, the restaurant was still bustling with many families out enjoying themselves, parents queuing up while the children were playfully messing around, creating a noisy atmosphere.
After lunch, Hannah and Arnold headed straight back to the library.
By afternoon, the library began to fill up with people, mostly senior year students like themselves carrying backpacks, there to do homework.
By six in the evening, it was completely dark outside, and the streetlights were lit, casting a dim glow on the roads.
The subsequent days were spent in the library with Arnold for Hannah.
The atmosphere was not as warm and cozy nor as intimate as imagined, it was just mountains of homework piled up in front of them.
Seeing that the holidays were coming to an end, the topics in the class chatroom shifted from initial feasting to a frenzy of homework completion.
Today Chinese, tomorrow mathematics, you have to ask around in the group beforehand to see if anyone else is in the same boat.
——No rush, there’re still three days left.
——By the way, weren’t we planning a get-together? Let’s just do it tomorrow.
——You dare to hang out without finishing your homework? I say we better wait till after the college entrance exams.
——Agree with the above, let’s meet up after the exams, homework comes first!
——Madly catching up on homework here, did you guys write the ten Chinese essays?
——What! There’s still essays to write?
And so, that get-together never happened.
With the last sound of firecrackers, the Chinese New Year holiday officially ended.
At six in the morning, Haicheng No. 1 High School opened its gate, various breakfast stalls were set up, and the aromatic steamy food pervaded the street, awakening the early morning.
Only the senior year students had school today, everyone hurried, grabbing breakfast along the way to the classroom to continue working on their homework.
When Hannah arrived in the classroom, it was already half-past six.
Most of Class 2’s students had already arrived, sitting quietly at their desks, either scrambling to finish homework or reviewing.
Tessa Thompson, as soon as she saw Hannah, excitedly pulled her to share the fun encounters from her hometown, and also brought out local snacks she had brought from home to share with Hannah.
By seven o’clock, everyone in the classroom had arrived.
The class monitor took a trip to the office, and upon returning, organized the class representatives to start collecting homework.
