No Substitutes for the Bigshots' Dream Girl Anymore!-Chapter 1694: Arnold Simmons Extra (60)
It was the spoken words that stunned everyone around.
Arnold Simmons was silent for a few seconds, then reached out to touch Hannah’s forehead, asking the question that was on everyone’s mind, "Have you become a little obsessed with studying?"
Hannah slapped his hand away, getting a bit anxious, "What I said is true."
Arnold could only concede, "Okay, what you say is true, studying makes one happy."
The onlookers silently looked away.
The girl in front of them continued to exclaim to her best friend, "If I had had this realization back then, why would I be queuing for stinky tofu now? I’d have bought out the whole stinky tofu shop!"
Unfazed, her best friend poked holes in her claim, "Really? Back then, your chanting slogans didn’t stop you from sleeping."
"..."
The line had been standing for twenty minutes, and only half of the people had been served.
Hannah started to feel unsteady and bent over to rub her knees.
Arnold reached out to grab the strap of her backpack and pulled her up, "You can’t even stand still, are you that weak?"
Hannah glared at him with puffed cheeks.
Not fierce, quite cute.
Arnold chuckled lazily, "Didn’t you just say that you were swimming in the sea of knowledge? How come your body didn’t get any better after swimming for so long?"
"..."
"There’s no relation between the two," Hannah turned around and shook off Arnold’s hand, "It’s just a metaphor, do you know what that is?" 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
She was nearly a head shorter than him, and half her imposing aura disappeared when she got angry.
Arnold, with one hand in his pocket, chuckled: "Okay, if you say it’s a metaphor, then it’s a metaphor."
Hannah didn’t want to deal with him and turned around to quietly queue.
Another twenty minutes passed, and finally, it was Hannah’s turn.
The time was close to eleven at night; there weren’t many people queuing anymore, and the store owner’s stinky tofu was almost gone, just enough for those who were left.
"For the two of you, will it be dine-in or takeout?"
Hannah said, "Takeout."
The owner then looked at Arnold.
Arnold was about to say he wouldn’t eat, but Hannah spoke up first, "Let me treat you, let’s eat here in the shop."
She raised her eyes to look at him, the light and stars in her eyes making it impossible to refuse her.
Arnold said, "Two servings, here to eat."
"Alrighty!"
The two found a spot by the side to sit down in the shop.
This was just a small shop; there were no staff, just the owner and his wife. One was responsible for frying the stinky tofu, and the other for cleaning tables.
The shop wasn’t big, but it was very clean and well situated, close to the school so business was always good.
Hannah couldn’t help but exclaim, "The First Middle School is really great."
"What’s so great about it?" Arnold, who had just checked the time and turned off his phone, caught Hannah’s exclamation.
The fan in the shop blew, dissipating the stuffy heat. Leaning back in her chair, looking up, Hannah felt sleepy, "There’s a lot of delicious food nearby."
Arnold said, "Just for the food, huh?"
"Of course," Hannah straightened up and turned to look at Arnold, "Don’t you know that enjoying delicious food is one of life’s greatest pleasures?"
Arnold turned his body to face her, his arm resting on the back of his chair, "Didn’t you just say that studying is what makes people happy?"
Hannah paused for a moment, her gaze shifting away, "Life’s pleasures are not limited to just one thing."
Studying brings happiness, enjoying good food brings happiness, running brings happiness, and so much more. The world is so vast, time is long, there will always be things that make you happy.
