No Substitutes for the Bigshots' Dream Girl Anymore!-Chapter 167: There is Another Person
The call was hung up.
As Louis Snyder held the icy phone in his hand, gazing at the dark and deserted street in front of him, a gust of cold wind blew, messing up disheveled strands of hair hanging on his forehead.
Nevertheless, it was his heart that felt utterly cold.
The icy chill radiated from his heart, traveled through his blood vessels to his limbs and bones, sucking out his strength and leaving only a sense of bitter coldness.
A self-mocking and sarcastic sneer played on the corners of his lips.
He had hoped that his recent efforts would have made Tiffany show some sympathy and concern towards him. After all was said and done, he wasn’t able to compete with the man, George River.
He could not compete with the George River, who had already betrayed the feelings that they once shared.
For a moment he felt lost, staring at the surrounding streets, none of which really felt like home to him.
Perhaps he once had a place he could call home, but a place which was also his worst nightmare.
The source of his agony.
Louis put away his phone, gathered his medicine, and started walking in the opposite direction.
It was high time that he returned to his rickety, small rented apartment.
Except...he just couldn’t.
He didn’t want to face the empty house all alone.
Would there ever be someone in this world who genuinely came to him when he called?
No...perhaps there was still one.
Thinking about it, Louis ultimately dialed that number.
Hannah had just returned from Arnold Simmons’s place, and although she attempted to show an unwillingness to leave when departing, it was a pity that the lord sponsor, obviously eager, had to hold himself back in the end.
This time, Hannah did not doubt her charms anymore.
She started questioning whether her lord sponsor had some kind of problem.
As she prepared to search the internet for potential remedies for hidden illnesses, Louis’s call came through.
She sighed, slightly annoyed, but still answered. Before she could speak, a blunt question from the other end landed.
"Where are you?"
The voice lacked its usual pretentious obedience in front of her.
It seemed that since the time he was hospitalized, Louis had begun to reveal his true self, assured that he couldn’t separate from her.
After a moment’s thought, Hannah replied, "At home."
She hadn’t hidden the fact that she had moved house from Louis, and he hadn’t bothered to ask more.
Though taken by surprise when Hannah stated that she was home, there was a warmth in Louis’s heart, and his voice softened, "Could you come pick me up? I’m injured." 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
Hannah frowned, initially wanting to reply, "I don’t care even if you’re dead."
But the words morphed into one when they reached her lips, "Okay."
Relieved, Louis sent Hannah his location.
Hanging up, Hannah poked the sleeping Golden Hibiscus and began admiring her beauty in the mirror. "Check the plot. How did Louis get injured?"
Yawning, Golden Hibiscus obediently logged into the live stream room to check the plot.
After just a minute, she found the answer, "Master, the role that you helped Louis secure through backchannels was taken from someone else. When they could not stand it anymore, they hired thugs to beat him up. He seems severely injured."
The chat room was brimming with discussions about this event.
Some sympathies lay with Louis and others thought he deserved it.
After all, in the original plot, if we talk about ingrates, no one could outdo Louis Snyder.
All the other scoundrels were in high positions, manipulating the protagonist’s feelings, except Louis. The protagonist treated him sincerely, considering him even when she was barely getting by and helping him find resources and scripts.
Ultimately, it was a case of the farmer and the viper.
Simply reading the text made people feel upset, not to mention the real-life plot unfolding live before the users in the live streaming room.
