No Substitutes for the Bigshots' Dream Girl Anymore!-Chapter 1653 Arnold Simmons Extra (19)
Every floor of the library houses tall bookshelves, neatly arranges books from ancient to modern times, from China and abroad. A faint scent of ink and paper permeates the air, it’s not unpleasant, rather it strangely calms the mind.
Hannah alone made her way to the third floor, while Tessa Thompson and a few other girls remained on the first floor, each holding an extracurricular book.
This was considered a rare moment of relaxation.
There weren’t many people on the third floor; Hannah stood on tiptoes and stretched her hand to pull a book from the shelf.
The book was written in a foreign language, she only looked at it for a short while before preparing to put it back.
Standing on tiptoes with her hand just lifted, the book in her hand was snatched away from behind.
Startled, she turned around to meet a boy’s dark eyes, still tinged with a hint of mirth.
Arnold Simmons seemed to have a particular fondness for black, and today, as usual, he was dressed in dark attire, wearing his coat’s hood, which pressed down on his somewhat disheveled black hair, as he gazed at her with downcast eyes and brows.
A low voice carried a flirtatious undertone, the breath prolonged, "What book are you looking at?"
The distance was close, the rich scent of books in the air replaced by the fresh smell of soapberries emanating from the boy.
Hannah was stunned for a moment, then came to her senses, and looking at the book the boy held, its cover displayed a boundless ocean, with the vessel afloat, a small boat drifting with the waves.
She said, "I love you, until life extinguishes."
Fine, dense threads twirled between them, carrying the tenderness of a spring breeze, entangling around the heart and slowly tightening.
After a moment of silence, Arnold Simmons raised an eyebrow, glanced at the cover of the book, and then spoke leisurely, "New classmate, are you confessing to me?"
His words, tender and heavy with a smile, the soft teasing climbing eagerly into one’s ears.
Golden sunlight spilled through the window, specks of light falling upon him, enveloping his entire being and casting a gentle gold hue on him.
As if no matter how many years had passed or whatever time lay ahead, he would always remain the most dazzling presence in her eyes.
Hannah averted his gaze, looking at the book he held aloft; actually, against the light, it was impossible to make out the title, "I didn’t, that’s exactly what’s written in the book."
Arnold Simmons lowered the book slightly, his laugh carefree, "Are you implying that I’m too poor at my studies to understand a foreign language?"
"That’s not it." Hannah reached out to tug at his sleeve, lowering the book’s height further, "If you don’t believe me, you can verify it online."
Arnold Simmons’ expressions shifted subtly, lying without a change in his face, "My phone’s dead, can’t check."
"I’ll show you with my phone." Hannah took her phone out of her pocket with an inexplicably stubborn air, "Lower it a bit, I can’t see the words on the book."
Arnold Simmons stood very straight, nearly a head taller than she was. Now, with his sleeve pulled by her, he obediently bent down again, "Is this better?" 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
Their proximity was too close, their posture intimate.
But Hannah seemed to have long gotten used to it, her heart might be racing, but no sign of it showed on her face, she simply looked down seriously searching for a translation app.
Arnold Simmons lowered his gaze and saw her fingers tapping on the screen, lips pursed, soft cheeks slightly puffed.
He felt a teasing urge and slowly said, "You can’t even see the cover, where did you get the book title from?"
Sure enough, the next second, Hannah stopped her actions, her fingertips stiff, and for a long while, she couldn’t press down.
