No Substitutes for the Bigshots' Dream Girl Anymore!-Chapter 1628: No Response
——For over a hundred years, the royal family has been continuously waging wars and invading other planets.
Online opinions have become increasingly vehement, with many demanding the royal family come forward to admit their wrongdoings and not to allow this error to continue harming innocent people.
The royal family, however, has never responded.
Under the current circumstances, the king is more concerned about strengthening the palace’s defenses than appeasing the emotions of the people.
Because most people have been deployed to defend the borders, there are far fewer guards remaining in the royal family than usual.
The king struggles with sleepless nights, haunted by visions of a blood-red sea of corpses, the dead seeking revenge.
They reach out their emaciated hands from hell, slowly dragging the king down.
Inside the royal bedroom, the king, plagued by nightmares, flails his arms helplessly, yet no matter what he does, he cannot disperse the vengeful spirits in his dreams.
The queen sits in the garden all night, weeping, uttering vile curses, all aimed at Hannah.
As the moon climbs over the willow tops, the palace is shrouded in an indescribable darkness and gloom, with chilling breezes penetrating one’s heart.
In a hundred years, little has changed within this palace, each flower, each blade of grass, each tree, and each branch remain as they were.
Even the tree that Hannah used to climb is still lush with foliage.
The night is silent and still.
At the palace entrance, the guards who usually stand watch are absent for some reason, leaving the outside empty, with only the rustling of tree leaves in the night breeze.
Hannah stands outside the gate, pausing for a moment before pushing it open.
The long palace avenue stretches forward, seemingly endless, with only the moon above providing a hint of brightness.
At the end of the avenue, Hannah sees Wayne Lane already waiting there.
Under the night sky, he still wears the blue combat uniform, as indifferent and calm as ever. Yet, the sharpness in his eyes is gone, as if all edges have been smoothed over.
His complexion shows a hint of pallor.
Eventually, he betrayed the loyalty he once vowed for a lifetime, but surprisingly, he feels a sense of relief, as if finally unburdened of the heavy stone that had pressed upon his chest for years.
His gaze lingers on Hannah momentarily, then he notices Arnold Simmons following close behind her.
He recognizes Arnold Simmons.
Back on Blue Star, this man seemed to appear out of nowhere, clearly a character within the narrative, yet uncontrollable by anyone, even falling in love with Hannah.
Their eyes meet in the air, bearing a heavy, oppressive atmosphere like a storm over the mountains.
But just for a moment, they both avert their gazes.
"Everything is ready inside," Wayne Lane speaks.
Hannah looks at him and smiles, "Thank you."
As she is about to walk inside, Wayne Lane shifts his stance, his expression unreadable, "Hannah, are you sure you want to do this? After all, he is—"
"My father, is that what you were going to say?" Hannah glances at him, a thin smile on her face, "Wayne Lane, do you think that just because someone is a father, he is entitled to inflict harm without restraint and without bearing any responsibility?"
He can do no wrong, simply because he is your father.
There are no parents without fault; no matter how wrong they are, you have to accept it.
That is your fate.
"After all, he is the one who gave you life." She says this with a smile, her voice calm and even, revealing no emotion.
