Chapter 123: Chapter 123: Shopping

Hannah had a quiet time recently. Louis was too busy filming to take notice of her, and George River, naturally engrossed in his affectionate and soft life, was unlikely to reach out.

So the happiest thing for Hannah right now was chatting with her own financier each day.

Although her financier was quite cold, she enjoyed it nonetheless.

— Mr. Simmons, do you think my cactus is pretty?

—Every day I tell it nice things, just as they say on the internet.

—It’s going to bloom soon!

A half-hour later, a reply comes in from the other side.

—Spend less time on the internet, or your brain will decay.

The smile on Hannah’s face froze, but she soon recovered, and her fingers were typing away a new message.

—If it decays, you’ll have to take care of me.

Two minutes later, the reply arrived.

—Read more during the day, sleep less, and you’ll have fewer dreams.

Hannah was fuming, wishing she could crawl through the wires right now.

I’m done.

Cannot chat anymore!

Once Arnold Simmons, on the other side, received no reply from Hannah, he guessed that he probably irked her again. With a slight chuckle, void of any humor in his eyes, he signaled his secretary to continue the previous issue.

The secretary curbed his surprise and hurriedly continued, "President Simmons, several directors have recently placed their people in crucial positions within the company. Despite some discontent within the upper management, they dare not express it due to the substantial shares these directors hold."

This is perhaps a common problem in family-run businesses, much like the old ministers in feudal dynasties.

Resting on past glories, they live on the merits of the past. But these people are not just satisfied with privileges gained from their forefathers, they also bring along their family, becoming a parasitic drain on the company contributing nothing but harm.

But eradicating them is no easy task.

Mr. Simmons closed his pen gently, his smiling expression barely noticeable, "I understand, you may leave now."

The secretary looked up in astonishment at the man in front of him.

He assumed that President Simmons would decisively resolve these issues with his unwavering approach after assuming power, but instead, he has remained passive.

Was this going to store up trouble for himself?

But the secretary didn’t dare to question further, he was a mere wage worker, who was he to speculate on the ideas of a top-level boss.

Once Hannah put away her phone, she got herself ready. Today, Jack had asked her out shopping.

Jack was keen to buy clothes for Hannah, after all, she needed to look beautiful for the shows.

Before leaving, she left her beloved cactus out on the balcony for some sun. "Look at you, with all your beautiful spikes, be a good cactus and you’ll bloom by the time I get back tonight."

A gust of wind blew from outside the window, the cactus remained steady in its clay pot, showing no sign of blooming.

Hannah changed into a round-neck dress, reaching only to her mid-thigh, both cute and sexy. This time, instead of high heels, she went for a pair of comfortable flats. Her hair was casually tied into a bun, attracting attention from many passersby.

Nothing special.

It was rare to see such a lovely young woman.

A young man gathered courage to ask her for her number.

She responded with a delicate laugh, "My sugar daddy gets jealous, he doesn’t like me getting too close to other men."

Disappointed, the young man assumed the ’sugar daddy’ she mentioned was a term of endearment for her boyfriend.

Other men, who initially showed interest, respectfully withdrew onto seeing the earlier man’s failed attempt.

Hannah waited in the shade of a tree for nearly ten minutes until Jack finally sent an address, suggesting they meet there.
