Chapter 116: Chapter 116: Meeting

George River averted his gaze, saying coldly, "Don’t overthink it."

She opened her mouth, just about to say something when an alarmed female voice shattered the silence, "George, are you alright?"

Outside the door, it was the hurried footsteps of Tiffany Lynch, running over in her high heels.

Hannah tactfully stepped aside, giving the two plenty of space.

George noticed Hannah’s action, feeling a bit unsettled, but as Tiffany was already running towards him, all he could do was rush to meet her halfway, holding her in his arms and comforting her patiently.

Tiffany threw herself into George’s arms, tears that she could no longer hold back fell down her cheeks, "George, your assistant called me saying you were hurt, do you know how worried I was about you?"

George listened, feeling heartbroken. His large hand gently stroked her back, his voice softened significantly, "I’m fine, you don’t have to worry."

Tiffany lifted her head, tears still on her face, sympathetically reached out a hand to touch George’s bruised corner of his lips, "You say it’s nothing, even the condition you’re in."

George, bearing the pain, cooed to her, "It’s just a minor injury, it will heal quickly."

Tiffany, angered, glared at him, even though she didn’t have the heart to chastise him, "Who were you fighting with? How did you end up like this?"

In Tiffany’s impression, George has never been in a fight before. Even in his most furious moments, his polished upbringing wouldn’t allow him to do something like this.

This was the first time she had seen him so disheveled, his shirt missing several buttons and even dusted with dirt.

George’s expression subtly changed, unsure of how to explain to Tiffany.

Thankfully, at that moment, George’s lawyer and assistant took care of things and informed him he could leave.

George nodded, taking Tiffany’s hand to walk out. Half way through, he seemed to have remembered something else.

Looking back, Hannah was looking at them, a faint smile on her face as they left the room.

Following his gaze, Tiffany saw Hannah standing in a corner. Unexpectedly seeing her again and particularly noticing the coat Hannah was wearing.

It was George’s.

George was a fastidious man, even when he was discarding something of his own, he would never easily give it to anyone else, but now...

Tightly gripping onto George’s hand, biting her lip, she lifted her head towards him and casually asked, "George, do you two know each other?"

A subtle change of expression crossed George’s eyes. He could have outright denied any relationship with Hannah but found the words wouldn’t come out.

He could only watch as Tiffany’s demeanor became increasingly dismayed, feeling more distressed inside.

It was hard for him to see the girl he cherished blazing with such sadness.

Just then, Hannah walked over. After glancing at George, his warning gaze seemingly amuses her, that she explained lightly "We don’t know each other, I was just a bit cold and put on a random coat I found. I thought it was abandoned..."

As she spoke, she paused for a moment, something appearing to hide in her eyes as she gazed steadily into Tiffany’s tear-filled eyes, her voice becoming even quieter, "...I didn’t think it belonged to this gentleman. I am truly sorry, I’ll return it right away."

George didn’t expect Hannah to help him cover up. While listening to her explanation about how they didn’t know each other, he felt an inexplicable discomfort in his heart.
