No Substitutes for the Bigshots' Dream Girl Anymore!-Chapter 106: Out with the Old, In with the New
Although his words sounded like rejection, they weren’t really. Instead, they contained a hint of amusement. Knowing that he was teasing her, Hannah playfully wrapped her arm around his and rested her head on his shoulder. Her voice soft and coquettish, she whispered in his ear, "Mr. Simmons, isn’t it something you haven’t seen before? Now you are seeing it, aren’t you?"
Arnold kept a poker face. He tried to pull his hand back but the young girl clung to him even tighter. He let her be, saying, "You’re so delicate, I might get tired of you one day and look for someone else."
She pouted, rubbing her head against his shoulder as she muttered, "Then go find them. You’ll never find a girl better looking than me. By then, you’ll regret it so much, your insides will turn green."
He tapped her smooth forehead lightly with his finger, his voice low and pleasing, "That doesn’t have to be true. Seeing delicate flowers all the time, I just might develop a new taste."
Don’t those novels always love to write about rich and domineering presidents falling in love with naïve, innocent little rabbits?
Although he doesn’t know if such people exist in reality, he knows his girl certainly isn’t one of them.
After all, she’s delicate, petty, vengeful, not particularly stupid or sweet, all that remains is her defiance.
"Then go find them." Hannah lifted her head, her eyes glimmering with tears, her voice soft yet stubborn, "I’ll definitely be able to find a sugar daddy who is a thousand, no, ten thousand times better than you. When you bring out your tasteless plain Jane, I’ll mock her, I’ll bully her!"
She became angrier as she spoke. Having no outlet for her rage, she broke into a sweat. With one hand on her waist and the other fanning her face, she looked pitifully at the man in front of her.
It was the first time he had seen her teary-eyed, the corners of her eyes tinged red, making her look both fragile and charming.
Although she said nothing, her expression revealed her thoughts.
You are about to lose me if you don’t comfort me right now.
In his life, Arnold had never backed down to anyone.
With his inherent ruthless streak and cold personality, he was a tough negotiator in the business world. Though not yet old, his sagacity and experience were enough to intimidate even the most seasoned businessmen.
Now he was expected to capitulate to this young girl, if the outside world knew about this, it would certainly be shocking.
As he hesitated, the girl turned her back on him refusing to meet his gaze, burying her head low, her shoulders shaking slightly. Her voice choking, she said, "I knew it, men always lose interest over time. It’s only been a while, and you already don’t love me. I will never believe your words again."
Her voice was pitiful, soft, and thick with sobs. Arnold gazed at her slender silhouette.
After a long silence, he finally said in a voice filled with resignation, "I was wrong."
The young girl turned around to look at him, her bright eyes filled with tears. Still, she could not suppress a smile. She wrapped his arm around her, tilting her head to look at him, "Mr. Simmons, what did you just say to me?"
The young girl was pushing her luck again, which was quite infuriating.
But the moment he frowned, the girl in his arms did too. The tears in her eyes threatened to fall at any moment, looking as though she was about to cry.
The man sighed helplessly, looking at those bright eyes, he slowly repeated, "I was wrong."
