Naruto: Starting with Infinite Chakra-Chapter 165: Absolute Dominance
Chapter 165 - 165: Absolute Dominance
Barrier techniques are generally difficult to execute alone.
Take Jiraiya, for example. He could set up a barrier by himself, but it would require time to carefully construct, as it's impossible to instantly release the vast amount of chakra needed for such a technique—especially considering the sheer scale of his barrier.
Normally, barriers are created through coordinated efforts involving multiple shinobi. Very few would attempt to cast one solo due to the excessive chakra consumption.
And yet, Jiraiya had effortlessly conjured an enormous barrier on his own.
Ryūgen found this hard to accept.
For Jiraiya to pull this off meant his chakra reserves were extraordinarily vast—so much so that he didn't even need to worry about running out anytime soon.
Inside the barrier, the poisonous mist from Ryūgen's toxin-coated blade continued to spread, growing denser with every passing second. Jiraiya's barrier prevented it from dispersing, but that only meant the concentration within the enclosed space kept increasing.
Ryūgen had already taken an antidote and was unaffected. Jiraiya, however, was a different story. Even if he carried advanced antidote pills from Konoha, prolonged exposure would inevitably take its toll.
Ryūgen's strategy was simple—force Jiraiya to contain the poison within the barrier and bear the consequences alone.
What he hadn't expected was just how easily Jiraiya managed to seal the mist inside.
Despite achieving his goal, Ryūgen's expression remained tense.
Jiraiya, meanwhile, exhaled slightly in relief.
If the poison had spread unchecked, it would have severely weakened the Konoha shinobi.
But now, a troubling thought crossed his mind—could the barrier-encased building in Tetsuishi Town be holding an even deadlier toxin? If so, the layers of barriers surrounding it weren't just for protection, but to prevent a catastrophic outbreak.
If his suspicions were correct, then things were about to get much worse.
"Jiraiya, I'll be honest with you," Ryūgen sneered. "The poison you're breathing in right now? It was personally formulated by Lord Hanzō himself. Its potency far surpasses anything your Konoha antidotes can counter."
His voice carried a deep reverence when mentioning Hanzō.
To the shinobi of Amegakure, Hanzō was practically a god.
It was his strength alone that gave the Land of Rain a chance at becoming a major power.
With Hanzō leading Amegakure, they dared to stand against the three great nations. Without him, the Land of Rain would have long since been crushed under their invasion, left to be carved up as spoils of war.
Jiraiya smirked. "I don't know where you get your confidence, but if you really think this poison can affect me, you're sorely mistaken."
There was something almost mocking in his tone.
The toxic mist swirled around him, seeping into his body—only to be instantly wrapped in his chakra and burned away before it could do any harm.
Ryūgen's eyes darkened. "Arrogant fool."
He refused to believe that Hanzō's specially crafted poison could be ineffective against Jiraiya.
"Lightning Style: Thunder Binding Pillars!"
Jiraiya's hands flashed through a series of seals.
Massive blue pillars descended from a dimensional rift, slamming into the ground around Ryūgen. Sparks of electricity surged from them, crackling toward him.
"Earth Style: Falling Earth Cover!"
In response, a dense layer of earth plummeted from above, aiming to crush Jiraiya.
"Earth Style: Swamp of the Underworld!"
At the same time, the ground beneath Ryūgen softened into a deep, sinking mire.
Three powerful jutsu—launched in an instant.
"Water Style: Raging Torrent!"
Ryūgen reacted just as quickly. A powerful surge of water erupted from beneath his feet, washing away the incoming lightning while a second wave shot skyward, shattering the descending layers of earth.
As for the swamp beneath him, he didn't bother resisting—allowing himself to sink before suddenly bursting out, propelled by a high-pressure water jet.
"Ten Myriad Thunder Prison!"
No sooner had Ryūgen escaped than Jiraiya summoned another wave of crackling thunder, sending a devastating storm of lightning crashing down upon him.
The bolts enveloped Ryūgen completely.
With a swift motion, he swung his twin blades. Water rippled outward from them in waves, counteracting the oncoming electricity.
As lightning raged around him, Ryūgen let out a battle cry. His swords unleashed torrents of water that detonated upon impact, sending shockwaves rippling through the battlefield.
The explosion wasn't just a defensive maneuver—the residual waves absorbed moisture from the air, continuously amplifying their power.
It was an S-rank Water Style technique—more than enough to match Jiraiya's jutsu.
As the lightning dissipated, Ryūgen's breathing grew heavier. His face had paled slightly—unleashing an S-rank technique had drained him.
Jiraiya, however, had no intention of letting him recover.
He had already gathered chakra, and with a flick of his wrist, he hurled his Lightning Flame Blade forward.
The weapon transformed midair—one side erupting into a roaring flame, the other crackling with lightning. In an instant, it took the shape of a blazing tiger and a coiling thunder dragon, both lunging at Ryūgen.
Inside the barrier, the battle between the two raged on, each clash shaking the enclosed space.

Outside the Barrier
Beyond the barrier, a group of Amegakure's elite jōnin stood in formation, blocking Uchiha Raiden's path.

Raiden regarded them with barely concealed disdain.
"You really think the likes of you can stop the Uchiha from dismantling this formation?" he sneered.
"How laughable."
Tetsuishi Town had four elite jōnin in total.
Raiden and his Uchiha forces had a critical mission—destroying the defensive array surrounding the town.
With the remaining three elite jōnin occupied—one facing Isamu, another fighting Tetsuki, and the third locked in combat with the elite jōnin of the Akimichi and Nara clans—Amegakure had no choice but to send four ordinary jōnin to confront Raiden.
It was the best they could muster.
But they had underestimated the Uchiha.
At first, the four jōnin worked together seamlessly, their coordination allowing them to hold Raiden at bay.
But as the battle dragged on, their patterns became predictable.
Raiden's Sharingan spun rapidly, memorizing their movements.
The moment a single mistake appeared, his eyes gleamed with killing intent.
One of the Amegakure jōnin faltered—just for an instant.
That was all the opening Raiden needed.
His three-tomoe Sharingan whirled, his immense ocular power surging forth—ensnaring the unfortunate shinobi in an inescapable genjutsu.
