Chapter 111: I’ve Seen the End

There was a far more pressing issue surrounding Gato that Ryosuke had overlooked.

It wasn’t Gato himself—it was the three jonin he had hired. All of them were traitors.

Kinoshita from Iwagakure.

Akutagawa from Sunagakure.

Atan from the Land of Hot Springs.

Not to mention the others, but just the fact that two of them were rebel ninjas from the Sand Village and the Land of Hot Springs was already dangerous enough.

Even though, for now, these men were aligned with the Allied Forces and under Gato’s protection, the Sand Village and the Land of Hot Springs wouldn’t dare act against them openly during such a sensitive negotiation.

But nothing in the ninja world was ever absolute.

Ryosuke didn’t know why they defected in the first place. That alone made it impossible to trust them. Who knew if they would betray their current employer just as easily?

Since arriving in the Land of Waves, Ryosuke had already done a great deal.

Now, the sky was pitch black. The night had fully descended, and the long day was finally over.

Ryosuke stood on a rooftop, looking silently at the castle’s top floor—Gato’s quarters—before turning away and slipping into the shadows.

So far, the three rogue jonin hadn’t shown any signs of betrayal. Although Ryosuke could kill them without leaving a trace, there was no justification for it—not yet.

Whether they had hidden motives or not, they were Gato’s men right now. If they died within the castle without clear cause, it would destabilize the entire alliance.

Still, one thing was certain: if they intended to act, they would have done it already. Earlier, when Ryosuke was alone and vulnerable, would’ve been the perfect time.

Leaving the castle grounds, Ryosuke made his way to an abandoned fishing village on the outskirts. He found a run-down house, pushed open the creaky wooden door, and sat cross-legged on the dusty floor to rest.

Regardless of whether the three rogue ninjas had hostile intentions, Ryosuke was prepared.

If they threatened the plan, he would kill them.

No hesitation. No mercy.

It wasn’t personal. It was just the way the world worked.

Their positions were different—nothing more.

But for now, the time to strike hadn’t come. The three of them still had a role to play.

What Ryosuke needed was rest. Tomorrow was the start of everything...

---

The first day of the alliance. The day when all the forces would finally gather.

Everyone spent the night on edge, their minds tense and alert.

The alliance couldn’t afford delays. The next morning, representatives from each nation gathered as scheduled at the ancient castle at the island’s center.

Due to the large size of the factions involved, not everyone could attend in person. After all, this wasn’t a battlefield—it was a negotiation.

Each faction was allowed only three ninja representatives. Nobles, however, weren’t restricted by number.

On Konoha’s side, the ones present were Mitokado Homura, Hyuga Hizashi, and the captain of the Anbu. The chunin squad, along with Hyuga Iroha and the Root Captain, remained behind at Konoha’s camp to secure the eastern coast of the Land of Waves.

"This is Konoha’s Hokage Advisor, Mitokado Homura-sama."

Gato was already at the castle gate to welcome them. As someone who had met him before, Hyuga Hizashi took on the role of introducer.

After introducing Homura, he moved on to the representative from the Land of Fire.

Gato, despite being a merchant, showed no signs of nervousness. On the contrary, he was relaxed and sociable, chatting animatedly as he led the group into the castle.

Then came the Sand Village delegation.

They were accompanied by nobles from the Land of Wind. Their representatives included the elder Ebizo, along with Jonin Maki and Jonin Yura.

Up until today, these factions had kept their distance—cautious, wary.

But the fact that everyone had shown up meant they were willing to talk.

And behind them, the neutral countries, the Land of Iron and the Land of Hot Springs, would soon arrive.

The moment Hyuga Hizashi stepped into the castle...

The moment the Sand Village team crossed the threshold...

Far away, in that broken hut on the edge of the fishing village, Ryosuke opened his eyes.

He had rested, but his eyes were bloodshot, filled with exhaustion.

And yet, there was an eerie excitement in them.

If yesterday had been filled with uncertainty—questions about the three rogue jonin, doubts about potential betrayal, or confusion about the hidden hand behind the sabotage—then today was different.

Today, he had seen it.

Once again, his eyes had revealed the future.

Not some distant possibility. A vision close to the present.

He saw exactly what was going to happen.

---

"Assign troops to the southern coastline. The area is guarded by Land of Bear and the Land of Hot Springs. Their forces are the weakest, which makes them the most vulnerable. If outside forces launch an attack, it’ll be from there."

While rising from the ground, Ryosuke used his illusion technique to temporarily control Hyuga Iroha, who was stationed on the eastern part of the island.

Through the illusion, he communicated with Iroha’s consciousness directly.

"The enemies are most likely from Iwagakure and Kumogakure. I’m only telling you—do not share this with anyone else. Especially not Root."

There was no need for introductions. The members of the Hyuga team were already accustomed to this. Ryosuke had warned them in advance that he might use this ability.

"I understand."

Though Iroha was confused by the suddenness, he followed Ryosuke’s command and started making arrangements.

Ryosuke-sama had already come up with an excuse to shift command to him, so it wouldn’t be hard to implement.

Once Iroha was in motion, Ryosuke severed the connection and moved to a high vantage point where he could better observe the area.

Then he shifted his attention to his next target.

Inside the castle, the meeting had yet to begin. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com

Thanks to Gato’s skillful mediation, the atmosphere between the nations was unusually friendly. Everyone introduced themselves with practiced smiles, exchanging pleasantries and compliments.

Just as they were about to begin formal talks, Gato turned to Akutagawa and nodded.

"Distribute the project plans," he instructed.

Akutagawa smiled and moved toward Elder Ebizo of the Sand Village.

Then—

His expression twisted.

Without warning, he pivoted, and a silver flash glinted in his hand.

A kunai slashed across Gato’s neck.

Gato’s eyes widened in confusion. The pain came a moment later, followed by darkness. He collapsed to the floor, blood pouring from his throat.

"MOVE!"

Akutagawa didn’t stop.

As the other delegates stared in shock, he formed hand seals and unleashed a violent wind-style technique, his longsword channeling the chakra into a gust that tore across the room.

He wasn’t aiming properly, and his panic showed. The attack missed the Konoha team but shattered the conference table in half.

Then he leapt out the window.

His two companions, startled by the abrupt betrayal but trained for chaos, followed immediately—vaulting to the wall and breaking through the windows after him.

The entire room was thrown into chaos.

Representatives from each nation instinctively backed away from one another. No one gave chase. No one wanted to be the first to move.

And in that moment when Gato died—when his voice fell silent—something else was unleashed.

---

Far away, on another isolated island near the Land of Waves...

A muscular man with bronze skin slammed his hand on the table. The veins on his arms bulged.

"What the hell’s going on?!"

His voice was a low growl.

"Who gave the order to move ahead of schedule?"
