He was aware of everything.
It didn’t take much for Adrik to notice that she was gone, nor was it much of a hassle for him to trace her to wherever she was, until he saw her.
He heard her call for him.
She looked frustrated, and tired of living. It made him angry that she would want to die, without thinking about him.
Why would she think of death when he’s here?
Besides, how sure was she that she wouldn’t see him again if she’s dead? She’s definitely going to be a ghost. His ghost bride.
Now that sounds amazing. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
Adrik smiled in satisfaction when he figured out that there’s no way out for her, whether she chooses to live or die. Fate has doomed her future by allowing her to be born into that family. It messed with her mental health by making her resemble Polina from inside out. But the only difference is that she had more fighting spirit than her aunt.
She wouldn’t easily give in, and maybe just maybe if she was Polina. Then the incident that had to do with allowing her dad to hook her up, and get her engaged wouldn’t surface.
Maybe. Just maybe..
Adrik sighed, feeling a slight headache forming in his head when he tried to continue comparing both women. But what he didn’t fail to realize out of all these that were happening, is the fact that he’s obsessed with Narika, way more than he was with Polina.
Tagon tried to talk him out of it. He told him the fucking truth right at his face but he refused to believe. But since the things that had gone down in his life these past few hours, and yet after leaving hell the first thing that came to his mind was Narika. He knew that he was definitely hooked on her.
He stayed aside, watching her from the very distance he shared with her as her brown eyes looked at every passing figure, in hope that it was him.
She called for him.
Yet, he hasn’t shown up because he was pissed off that on the day she was supposed to give him the answer to his proposal, she bolted.
But from the look of things, and desperation from her eyes. Adrik noted that she was in a tight corner. She was robbed, and had nowhere to go. Not even a phone nor a cent to make any calls back home in the phone booth.
Whereas, she could have easily found help if she had begged any nice looking person for a cent to drop a call for her parents. But here she was, waiting for his answer while she called at him.
Narika was one interesting fellow. She hated him, and was escaping from him. But yet, if things come down to the point that it was beyond her capability, she calls for him.
Why is that?
He wanted to know.
Was she changing her mind about him already?
He thoughts deeply, keeping his strong gaze on his girl. He wanted an answer from her, just like he wanted one from his mother.
Narika had looked him in the eyes, and confessed her abject hatred towards him. But right now, she was confusing him. She was messing with his feelings, and his heart.
Yet, he couldn’t look away and deny the attention she wanted from him. The plan was to make her grandfather pay for what he did to his beloved, by using his only granddaughter.
But it seemed his feelings had changed, and his decisions too. He didn’t get that desperate urge to hurt her, like it was in the first place when he came to know about her.
Rather, the feeling was replaced with something else, and he didn’t like it one bit. Neither could he change it. He wanted to protect her from the world. He didn’t want to see her cry, because of anyone or anything. Just the mere thoughts of someone who wasn’t him making those tears leak from her enchanting eyes, made him annoyed.
Just like he was when he figured out that she cried, because of her best friend. What was the name of the blondie again?
Zoe. Zoe Wintergreene.
She’s going to pay for having hurt his girl, best friends were supposed to stand by each other no matter what, and Zoe is nothing but stupid when she stood by and watched his girl get fired from what she loved doing the most.
Everything was going fine, with him being in the dark watching her call for him while having the scared look in her face from the attention she was getting from the men that passed by.
His jaw hardened in anger, and his shoulder flexed when someone had enough courage to approach her. He sensed the negative energy seeping from him, and figured out that he was nothing but a creep who wanted to fuck his girl.
"Hey young lady, need any help?" She heard the bastard ask his girl, who shook her head negatively making the young man sigh in disappointment and leave.
He was lucky as fuck that he didn’t pressure her more, that would only make him come out of if the dark he is, and ruin his fun about waiting to see if she would give up or continue calling unto him.
Well, that’s what he thought until it started to rain. She wrapped her arm around herself while moving backwards under the building to avoid the rain, but the beggars and assholes there made shudder away and she moved forward towards where the light, and attention of people would be on her.
But the rain was falling on her, and she was calling his name more than ever. How was she so sure that he was even listening?
How?
"I know you are hea..ring me Adrik. I’m really sorry that i ran awa..y but it wasn’t because of you. So please, help me."
She said lastly, a sob raking thought her and that was what did the job. Her tears and her endless trust in him. You are so hooked Adrik!
His conscience shouted at him, but he didn’t care about what he wanted anymore. His fianceè was calling, he would only be an asshole not to answer.
So, he came out of the dark, snapping his finger and an umbrella appeared in his hands as he walked towards where she was under the rain.
With her head bowed down, while wrapping her arms tightly around her. She didn’t see him. All she heard was the thumping of shoes against the ground, until a pair of sleek italian shoes stopped in front of her, then the rain ceased pouring down on her.
"I heard someone was calling for me!" Adrik teased her, and before his very eyes, she looked up to meet his amused green eyes that were looking down at her.
He’s here.
That’s all she said, and before his eyes. She stood up instantly and engulfed him into a tight hug, shocking the ghost who felt her arms wrapped around him tightly, she wasn’t planning on letting him go.
"Thank you." She said lastly, holding onto him not caring that maybe the passersby were looking at her strangely for hugging the air. After all he’s a ghost, but what she didn’t know was that the man in front of her was more human than a ghost.
His heart was beating against his chest. His strong heart hasn’t been functioning since five years old, but she did make it beat without any hassle.
She made his heart beat for her, his enemy. Now, isn’t that ironic?
