Narika: The Ghost Bride-Chapter 45 - Forty-Five: You Are Fired!
A fuming Mr.McKenna sat down, with his hands gripped together in such a way that his veins were almost popping out to show feeling irritated he was, while looking at Narika who had a blank expression on her face.
She wasn’t showing any ounce of emotion, to show that she was regretting what she did to Tracy, who had an icepack held to her head, and a cotton wool up her left side of her nose.
She was whining, and throwing tantrums from all corners, so that their boss would take out his anger out on Narika, but it was obvious to everyone that if there’s anyone that would be needing any reprimanding that would be Tracy, who started the fight.
Adora had done the needful by explaining to the boss what transpired between the two, but she’s not so sure who he was going to take sides with, since they both broke a rule by fighting in his restaurant, and that being early in the morning too.
So, with the both of them standing in front of him, Narika was not breaking eye contact with him. She wasn’t scared of what he would do, as she was hundred percent sure that Mr.Mckenna valued her presence in his place of work.
As the only barista, whose work had attracted tons of customers. The least way of showing his appreciation would be showing his whore, where her place is, and that would mean Tracy staying clear of her.
"Well, as i have nothing much to say at this point of time, since you both know what you did wrong. But i am highly disappointed at the fact that Narika, you couldn’t hold your tempers in..."
McKenna cleared his throat before starting his sermon, that both girls knew that was going to end with the both of them having cuts in their salaries.
But what they didn’t see next, well what Narina didn’t see next was him trying to pin the blame on her, it was as if he didn’t heed to any explanation Adora had said about what happened earlier.
"Excuse me, but i don’t think..," She cut him short of words, just to rectify what he’s trying to do. But the man slammed his hands down on his table, making Tracy scoff at her.
"You dare not interrupt me while I’m still talking young lady, you bringing your bad luck to my business has already given me so much loss than your silly actions earlier!" He snapped at Narika, who didn’t fail to understand the meaning behind what he just said.
"I did nothing wrong," she said with gritted teeth, watching the way Tracy had a smug look on her face all this while. She didn’t say anything, but seemed to enjoy the torture at Mr.Mckenna’s hand.
"That’s totally wrong from the impression everyone has of you, which is why i have to say this in as much as it’s heartbreaking." Mr.Mckenna sat up, tugging at his tie but he could keep his gaze on her.
"Your services are no longer here,I would pay off your last salary and additional benefits..."
"Is this some kind of joke?" Narika stumped forward, so that he could look her straight in the eyes, and tell her that he meant what he was saying.
She was wrongly accused, and had only fought for her right but here she was getting fired for trying to stand for herself.
He didn’t say much, but dragged his drawer open, and brought out a heavy envelope and dropped it in front of her.
"Here, this is your earnings for the past months and..."
"You were planning this all along." Narika scoffed, looking at him before looking back to Tracy who avoided her gaze since she’s caught in the act. The fight was just an excuse, they were planning this all along and were waiting for her return from jail.
Did Zoe know about this too?
"I wouldn’t have you accusing me of false accusation, so please use the door and don’t come back here anymore." He said coldly, but she didn’t say anything further and went for the envelope which Tracy thought was her cue to leave.
"All my life, I have wanted to be a renowned barita and work my ass day and night for you, and this is how you repay me, because i punched your whore’s nose?" She asked, laughing in between her words since she’s trying so hard not to break down in front of them.
"Who do you think you are calling a ..." Tracy shouted at her, a silly mistake that would have ended up with her nose bleeding again, if she had come closer to Narika. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
"Tracy,"Mr.Mckenna shunned her, he didn’t know how he felt seeing that Narina knew about his affair with his employee. Not that she’s going to report him to his wife anyway, but her knowing about this didn’t sit well with him.
"Very well then," Narika said lastly, and before their very eyes, she tore the envelope with the money inside and flung it at Mr. McKenna’s face.
"What the...," He tried to stand up, but she had left his office to see everyone looking at each other at the front of his door. They were eavesdropping all along.
A few of them had this look of regret plastered on their face, but it was too late for any of that, while the rest that were on Tracy’s side, laughed right in her face
Among all these, Zoe was nowhere to be found. But at this point of time, she didn’t care about her anymore. If anything she was more of an enemy than a sister to her right now, and she wouldn’t promise not to hurt her anymore.
So, she left without looking back, she didn’t know where exactly she was going but she decided to walk away from this neighborhood till God knows where.
The sobs leaving her lips attracted attention to her, but she knew that the people of Tomorrow town didn’t see her as a human being anymore.
Whereas her stay here has much needed served it’s due time, so it wouldn’t matter if she decided to leave and start afresh.
The surprising thing about all these, is the fact that one person who had ruined her life, and put her in this predicament hasn’t shown up since after killing Morgana and pinning the blame on her.
She doesn’t know if this was the end of Adrik’s torture, but whichever one it is, one thing was clear, and that is him paying for every single pain he has caused her.
With that in mind, while cleaning her tears away from her eyes. She didn’t see the motorcycle that was coming her way, an action that would have ended up with her being at the hospital, had it not been for the pairs of hands that drag her away from the road into warm arms that felt all too familiar.
"Bambi..."
