Chapter 146: Chapter One Hundred And Forty-Six:Making Sacrifices For The Family.

"You know, there’s still time for you to wait so that i could change and join you too." Marya bothered Mario for the umpteenth time this morning, because he had suddenly decided that he was traveling to the city to see his dad.

There was no need to waste time anymore, since Marya’s mother has been bugging her about going back to India, and he can’t have that due to the fact that he hasn’t done what needed to be done to meet Marilyn Monroe. The wife of the man who was dragging the presidential election with his father.

So, he was stuck with trying to convince Marya that there’s no need for her to follow him, this was his first appearance in many years and he knew what it was going to cost him. He didn’t want Marilyn to be injured, nor involved in his family drama, although that’s bullshit because she’s been involved for a very long time.

But this morning, he goes alone to fix things up with his father. She can come along next time when he’s sure that his father wouldn’t shoot her at first sight. That would as well bring up another issue among them, and he can’t bear the risk of losing her too, in their present predicament.

"We have talked about this all night long, Sweetheart. This time i go first, you can come along the next time when i am sure all coast is clear. I can’t have him hurt you at first sight." He said in a really calm voice, so as to not have her worried about him because Marya can be overbearing sometimes. Especially since after the incident with their daughter missing, and not too long ago this morning they received news that Zoe and her parents were dead. They were involved in a ghastly accident while the ambulance was taking their father to the hospital.

He wasn’t much interested in the news since he’s got far more interesting stuff to put his mind in, but Marya being over dramatic hasn’t been able to stop talking about karma finally knocking at their doorsteps for what they had done to their daughter, Narika.

"But there’s no guarantee that he won’t hurt you first, Nelson. You don’t know that." Marua said, making a point as she folded her arms while waiting for him to say something about what she just said, but he was left speechless because he hadn’t thought of that possibility too.

"Yeah i know, but we both don’t know if he has been searching for me all these years, Babygirl, so it’s a fifty-fifty chance amongst the others, but that doesn’t mean that I’m gonna to risk your life for him. Baby, you know what sort of man my father is." Mario said, cupping her face as she had this sad look on her face coupled with her pouted lips that always seem to do the trick, whenever they have arguments that would often lead to him giving in.

But this time, he’s serious. There’s nothing she can do to change his mind. If his father kills him, then she goes back to India with her family and stay alive, that’s what is most important. Then she could continue searching for their daughter from where he stopped, but this time it wouldn’t include her mother’s suggestion to get close to his father just so they could reach Marilyn.

"But seriously..." Marya tried to complain one more time, but he did well by shutting her up with a kiss in the presence of her sister who chose that ungodly time, to come outside just to see the couples display their affection towards each other. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

"Mother, he’s not gone yet." Rosa yelled from outside, answering her mother’s question which had to do with Mario, as he stepped away from Marya who was all cuddled by his side, while he looked up to see her glaring daggers at them both.

But Seline had their attention when she came out, and tried climbing the stairs to them but not without Rosa’s help.

"You should have called for me, instead of stressing yourself out." Mario told her, when she stopped at where they stood before he took her right hand up to kiss the back of it.

"But you weren’t planning on leaving when everyone is awake, are you planning on commiting suicide Nelson, it’s just your father that you are gonna to see, why sneak out in the early morning?" Seline lashed at him, while Marya palmed her cheeks to stop the tears that were threatening to fall down her face.

"Rosa, can you escort Marya inside? I would like to talk to your mother alone, please." Mario told Rosa, for the first time in history without any hint in his voice, that he saw her as a nuisance instead of his sister in-law.

"Baby.." Marya called for him, but he shushed her by rubbing affectionately at her palm, before he let go of her when Rosa came at her side. Their gaze not breaking away from each other, as if it was the last time that they were going to see each other.

"Is there something you are not telling me, Nelson?" Seline demanded from him because he was acting so suspiciously.

"I just want to ask for one last favor from you, mother." Mario began, as under Seline’s suspecting glance he held her right in his. " If i don’t come back in two days, I want you to go back to India with Marya, and never come back until i come for you guys."

Seline removed her hand from his immediately," what sort of a request is that? Your father isn’t going to kill you if that’s what you are bothered about."

"You don’t know the kind of man he is, mother."

"Yeah, but atleast i trust the man standing in front of me that he won’t make a widow out of my daughter. So you need to conquer your fear, it kills before the actual fear comes, son." She advised him.

"There’s a stack of money i have in a briefcase, it would be enough to help you guys to stay in hiding for a while, Marya knows the pincode."

"So, she believes that you are not coming back? Foolish children!" She cursed, while she rolled her eyes at him.

"It’s just in case things don’t work out as planned, please, you leave the country as soon as possible. My dad won’t believe your words about Narika being a witch and stuff." He smiled.

"And how exactly do you plan on making him buy your own words?"

"I don’t know, but i am his son. He would have no other option than to believe me." He concluded, while she hugged tiredly before nodding her head at his words.

"Fine, but you are coming back soon. There’s no option about leaving." She told him, patting his cheeks before his phone started to ring and he took it up to see that it was Hendrix calling.

He had briefed him on what he was trying to do." I have to go now, mother.`` He told Seline, who nodded before he made his way to his car, and left without wasting any more time because if he stalls, he’s gonna have a change of mind about leaving.

But no!

He would better sacrifice himself for his family, rather than to be a dimwit at all who didn’t make any moves to save his daughter.
